It's better to introduce stuff as a sci-fi "story" as people are so easy brainwashed these days into thinking bullshit is true. Still maybe that's your goal.
I really enjoyed this, but the lack of correct military terminology irks me. Admiral and general are not interchangeable. Also, a temporary truce wouldn't be used to negotiate as the term truce is too broad for the context. It would typically be called a parley which operates under a truce between the two parties, but has a less broad meaning in time and formality of the arrangement. I realize the author of this will never see my comment; I just needed to get it off my chest.
Only difference between a general and admiral is the Branch they serve in. One is land forces and the other is sea forces or Naval and Coast Guard which have the same designations for officer grades. Still in a space force technically there wouldn't be admirals as our Air Force has no admirals, but if the designation were to be adapted for space I would tend to think of them as actually being interchangeable, but I don't see Generals going along with being downgraded to ground forces only in a Space Force. Where an Admiral in our modern navy would be an O-10 and would likely command a fleet since the five star Fleet Admiral or General of the Army have been done away with. A combat General, 4 star during wartime would command an Army made up of several divisions such as Patton's 3rd Army of 9,638 officers and 221,070 enlisted men. No modern General or Admiral commands such a number.
Thanks for clearing that up. I'm a civilian without military experience so the terminology did not really effect the story for me. But I could see why it would you. True the author should get the terminology right.
