“Who won the debate” is identical to “what’s your political party” at this point. Nobody looks at things objectively. They hear what their candidate said and then do everything they can to justify it, and they do the opposite for the other one. It doesn’t matter who’s actually telling the truth, because everyone has their own truths now.

doing a "coin toss" before a debate to decide who speaks first is actually a feature of pretty much every other form of formal debate. The first person to speak typically has an advantage.
It's a give and take, the first person who speaks has the advantage of being first, but also if you go 2nd you can cherry pick your own argument a bit more having a advantage over your opponent.
No, the second person to speak typically has the advantage. That's why Trump won the coin toss and chose to speak second. Getting in the last word on a topic means that you can say something outrageous and the opponent can't refute it.
The person to speak last typically has the advantage. Like in this debate, Trump threw out that Kamala had three years to fix it and didn't, but she couldn't respond to why that doesn't make any sense
@@richardduncan2954 It could have been a good point if he mentioned what he would have done differently. A better criticism of Harris would be that she's clearly overpromising policies that would never pass through this currently divided Congress, and Trump did mention this, but the reason he doesn't bring it up more often is because that criticism can also be levied towards him.
Completely agree in regards to the online reaction to/discussion surrounding the debate. Our nation's rationality is continuing to disintigrate, and people are too busy screaming themselves red in the face about issues that truly aren't issues at all instead of paying attention to the slow collapse of our economy and freedoms.

I liked your takes about problems with the debate itself and how it was too short to address certain issues that need to be addressed. To me, the most surprising of these non addressed issues is gun violence and mass shootings… kinda tragic how normalized it has gotten in society.
I do wish there was more discussions about stuff like this. Obviously I'd figure Trump would take a more 2A stance and Kamala would take a more gun-control style stance, but to actually hear them talk about this in length would have been nice. This and violent crime in major cities across America, there's cities in virtually every region with outlandish crime sprees going on.
Normalized in blue states and cities. You cannot talk gun violence without mentioning that over 50% of all homicide are done by blacks. You cannot talk mass shooting without mentioning that over 95% of mass shootings happen in blue states and cities.
It's true that it's normalized, but careful how you say it, because when Vance made that statement, he was slammed. He was not calling it normalized in a positive sense, he was saying it should not be normalized, and the fact it is a bad thing.

Yuri Bezmonov warned us about this. He said there were 4 stages. The second stage of destabilization involves the creation of social and economic chaos, often by exploiting existing divisions and conflicts within a society. The third stage of crisis involves the escalation of conflict and the breakdown of social order, leading to a situation of extreme vulnerability. The final stage of normalization involves the imposition of a new social and political order that is more favorable to the interests of the enemy.

Also it will raise wages in particular sectors in the economy because there is higher demand for products raising the price and you need people to work in that job so you have to raise wages to aquire new people.
@@barnousauresrex2662 Tariffs do have positive affects yes, but none of those are things he brought up. No it won’t. Literally every analysis of economic policy shows Trump’s economic plan will be worse. Look at his signature economic policy: tariffs. Tariffs are taxes on imported goods that get passed on to consumers. If you think prices are bad now, you don’t want Trump’s tariffs on top of that.
yeah like this is my process im thinking okay last 4 years... what was trump era like and even with covid hitting at the end of trumps time it was still better than what we have now.. so yeah I know which one im going for
One thing important to note with the economy: people say that the economy was worse under Biden than Trump. This is true. However, the factors outside of the presidency arguably affected those economies and our perceptions of them. Trump inherited a largely pretty good economy from the previous presidencies, wherein Biden inherited a post pandemic economy which was on a downturn. At Least in my mind, a president and their economic laws largely have less effect on the economy than events outside of their control. Tariffs will effect supply less than no one being able to work due to a pandemic

How do you think Trump will fix immigration? What's his plan? Why did he shoot down the immigration bill three years ago? 3. How do you believe Trump will fix crime? Why does he proclaim to be "pro police" yet actively denigrate the officers maimed and killed during January 6, 2021? 4. What is his plan to reconcile the Middle East? Will he reach out to those who didn't vote for him? Will he double down? Why or why not? All the best
I’m voting for Harris because I think trump’s cutting of taxes on the rich and implementing tariffs will make the economy worse and I don’t have faith that trump will not support project 2025. I’m voting for Harris because I think trump’s cutting of taxes on the rich and implementing tariffs will make the economy worse and I don’t have faith that trump will not support project 2025. I personally think that trump gives off wannabe dictator vibes. He has shown that he doesn’t respect women, he uses fanatical and dividing language and he said there were “very fine people” among the proud boys, who are misogynistic white supremacists. He speaks of immigrants as inhuman. Even if the immigrants are criminals they are still human. To dehumanize them opens up very dark paths… I fear that if trump is elected many people will lose their liberties and the poor will only get poorer.
1 were under the effects of trumps economy, not bidens
2 trumps economy was literally from the coattails of Obama. There was literally no policy in place passed by Trump to make our economy better
3 middle class Americans are feeling the effects of trumps policies and tax plan which in no way shape or form benefited the Middle class.
4 his tax plan was made permanent tax cuts to the ultra wealthy and the middle class has to pay more (I can further confirm this when I owed 7k this year vs the 4.5k I was paying in the past few years even though my income barely changed).
5. He is starting to show his age like Biden. He sounded much more competent in 2016 compared to now. He's far too old and only wants the position to gain immunity

As a German, I want to give my viewpoint as an outsider (so please take it as that, I'm open for peaceful discussion about it). Given the way Trump views international Programs like NATO and his standpoint towards the Ukraine War, for us he would be the worse option. His last time as president also felt like it was harmful for international connection and friendship. Although he might promise certain improvements for Americans and their life (for which I totally understand that people would like to support him for) I still view him as very regressive and extremist in some topics. The underlying thing though is, that the USA has the same problem as everyone else: You don't vote for what you support, you vote against what you don't want to support.
It’s not our job to single handedly pay for the defense of Europe.
@@admiraljohan7152 that's definitely not what I'm looking for, I understand that thought but don't you see that it is in your interest as well in terms of world peace? As long as NATO exists and as long as the US with all its atomic weapons etc is part of it, every NATO country is safe from attacks, which in turn means peace. Sure NATO hasn't really been that smart when it comes to Putin and how to handle him but that's not the point. Europe in general has a lot of US-Army outposts as well, which benefit the US when it comes to coverage.
America spends far more than our Allies to keep them safe, and the American people are tired of footing the bill to ungrateful countries who don’t even meet their defense budget requirements. We are a country of gun owners that is impossible to invade so we don’t need anyone else for safety.
Our roads and infrastructure are crumbling, our social services and schools don’t get enough money, and we are in trillions of debt.
Ukraine is not our problem. Israel is not our problem. Taiwan is not our problem. We want to start addressing issues here!
America cannot be the backbone for our allied nations if we are not in a place of strength internally. Our media and corporations have divided us to a point where it's smarter to pull back from international conflicts and focus on our own. I'd love to keep holding our military might as a check to chaos, but my country is currently in decline. These debates and recent elections have been nothing but a hollow popularity contest, making it difficult to vote for the policies of the candidacy when they never talk about them. If we can clear our heads and once again bring it back to discussing policy instead of he-said-she-said we would have a real chance to help again. But neither candidate can do that.
@@iaindickinson3120 That's true, there's much to work out inside of the USA and we all suffer if you don't work towards that. But from an outside pov I believe that, once again, it doesn't have to be "we do that OR that". Sure priority number 1 should be solving internal problems but to focus on that you don't have to completely abandon everything else. "Just" cut back a little. Or do you think that's unrealistic?
