I just watched season 2 and....I see how Colin is totally clueless. I want a love.triangle, but I would honestly hate it if Pen ends up with Colin after Colin just starts liking her. He would have to do something extreme for Pen to be with him. I think it may be Colin accepting her as Lady W but Mr. Debling may not like that. Also, maybe Lord Debling won't even want to stay in London which would make being Lady W difficult for Pen. Idk. We'll see.
Colin needs to do something crazy for me to ship Polin. Debling is a MAN and treating her with the respect she deserves

They literately just added Lord Debling for the drama and to make Colin suffer a lil. They did change a lot of the main plot but they wouldn't deviate from the main pairings. I am very excited to Colin suffer tho

@@missbimbeaux pra não discordar inteiramente de você, reconheço que não foi SÓ tensão sexual, mas a MAIOR parte da história deles foi sim só isso. o que é uma pena porque o elenco é maravilhoso e os protagonistas tem muita química, se tivessem tido um pouco de respeito aos livros e incluíssem pelo menos uma ou duas cenas da quebra de expectativa dos dois quanto a personalidade um do outro, na minha opinião não teria tanta gente reclamando sobre a falta de história no relacionamento dos dois (inclusive por isso a primeira temporada foi aclamada pelos leitores, eles incluíram cenas novas mas a essência do casal permaneceu, uma pena que não puderam fazer o mesmo com kathony)

@@sadiecasey4802 Honestly, I don't. I've read the books. I haven't found her story as interesting as other ones. I liked what they were doing with Theo. That goes with her personality more than writing letters. I'd like to see either Francesca or Benedict's story. I know Benedict's story is a bit Cinderella-esque but it's a pretty story and Benedict's actor is way to pretty to not get his story. I'll be really gutted if he doesn't get his story on the screen and the show gets cancelled.

The point in all seasons of Bridgerton is that the "Gentlemen" do not follow the rules of decorum with their true love interests. Simon conspires secretly with Daphne, kisses her in the garden, talks to her about self-pleasure. Anthony kiss to Kate even though he was supposed to marry her sister. Precisely, the love stories in Bridgerton demonstrate that when it comes to true love, boundaries are crossed because unlike a "proper society love," what the Bridgertons end up finding is true love, knowing all the good and accepting the flaws of the person they will spend the rest of their lives with because NO ONE is perfect. And after overcoming obstacles, the Bridgertons become humble and heal their own traumas, while with love, they heal their partners' traumas: Simon overcomes his father's trauma, Kate overcomes her trauma of losing her parents and believing that all happiness should be for her little sister, and Colin is helping Pen to be more confident in society, to find her self-esteem, while Pen helps him understand what true love is and his purpose in life. That's where the drama and romance lie. The third parties added to the plot cannot be said to be good or bad because their personalities are not explored in depth. Whereas the main characters we do know, and we already know that love ends up giving them their arc of redemption and change, like Daphne who stopped being so innocent and pressured by society's expectations, and Anthony is now a completely changed man compared to the libertine and rough one he was in the early seasons.
I agree that this is very likely to happen. The main thing I dislike with Penelope and Colin as a match, is that there seem to be a certain level of pity, that wasn't there in the other relationships. Both Simon, Daphne and Anthony was considered a catch, and let's be real, Kate could have been high value as well, as we also see males of a more mature age seeking a wife, and Kate is clearly a very attractive woman. Colin is considered a catch because of his status/family name, and is seen as attractive. But Penelope is very clearly portrayed as the ugly duckling from the start.
Colin always look at her with pity in his eyes. And he panics slightly every time she conveys interest, it is very clear that he finds her unattractive. This is also strengthened by how others perceive her; both the Featheringtons in general, and her as the lowest status in the family, due to her looks and unconventional interests. And it shows pretty clearly, that a woman can be as smart and interesting as possible, but unless she is also somewhat attractive, she will still be seen as less than others. And I kind of don't want her to get 'stuck' in that dynamic of only being someone of value in society, because a 'high status' man takes an interest in her. It would just feel more like a pity marriage than a love match.
I get what you're saying but I wouldn't call it pity. I think that the reason why Colin starts falling for Pen is because when he notices how many suitors she's getting now and that's she getting away from him, he starts to want her in a kind of selfish way. I think it took him time to want Pen, but only because he never realized he already acted like their engaged for the longest time. I mean Colin does have a lot personality flaws like arrogance and a big ego, and I hope those flaws get resolved this season before he actually gets with Pen.

I'm sorry, but sometimes I think many of you reflect your own biases onto the characters, unconsciously thinking that a character like Penelope cannot deserve love if it's not out of pity. Here's my LONG interpretation (but bear with me): Colin and Penelope in the series (not in the books) have known each other their whole lives, meaning since they were very young.
And they have a friendship that, for the time, is more about meeting at social events than anything else. Penelope falls in love with Colin, but in a way that's like her teenage crush, let's say. Colin, on the other hand, always seeks her out and appreciates their encounters as friends because they have been growing up together, so that process of transitioning from seeing Penelope as that little girl to seeing her as a woman is more complex for him, not because she's not attractive to him, but because Pen has always been there, as he says, "his constant."
But then we see that after each trip, Colin returns different, both with himself and in his dynamic with Pen. Each time we see him closer, precisely, differently attracted to her, having gestures with her that he didn't before, like increased confidence, they speak more openly, they write letters to each other, he wants to protect her, etc. But Colin is slow to recognize that as love because in the first season, he already made the mistake of confusing a friendly feeling with love, and he's left with that emotional burden.
While it may seem that Colin doesn't see Penelope the same way at first, it's evident that their relationship develops and grows over time. As Colin matures and faces his own challenges, he begins to see Penelope in a different light and finally acknowledges his feelings for her, but not out of her appearance or out of pity, but because they both start to really get to know each other due to the increasing closeness they have.
But in this case, the fear of ruining the friendship plays a significant role. It's easier to risk confessing love when it's someone you've just met, in a love at first sight mostly based on physical attraction, than in a love that evolved from friendship.
I know many judge Colin because he said he wouldn't court Pen, but that was his truth at that moment, not because of a lack of affection towards Pen, but because of Colin's own internal struggle in recognizing love. Penelope wasn't ready to truly love Colin either because she had idealized him, and she also didn't love herself yet. In summary, Colin and Penelope in this third season will be recognizing true love at the right time for both of them.
And about being valued beyond what society dictates, that's precisely what Colin does with Penelope. He has always asked her to dance, talked to her in public, sought her out at balls, because he feels good with her and doesn't realize or doesn't care what happens around them. She has always been his friend. While Debling probably only knows the "improved" version of Penelope. Debling doesn't know the shy Penelope who hides, who doesn't know how to talk to men, who doesn't dress well. Colin knows ALL the Penelopes and has loved them all, on different levels of love (from friendly love to love of lovers) and has always been with her, as a friend at first, but always there. Colin is the perfect love match for Penelope.

Kate was never going to be considered a good catch in the Bridgerton world, she was 26 years old, the oldest a girl could be and still find a husband back then was 21. Kate would never be high valued she was "too old", nobody looked at her and saw someone's future wife, she was a worst wallflower than Pen, Pen is at least still very young, she is not even 18 yet.

I will say I am furious at Colin for what he said s2. Even if he didn't mean it in a mean way, he should have put more care into his words. He made her sound like a joke in front of a bunch of eligible men.
That being said, they gave Anthony a great redemption in his season. I know they can do it for Colin, too. I think Debling will be what pushes him to realize that he's loved her all along and that he can't fathom losing her.
I completely agree with what you’re saying and you’re totally right! I just hate the trope of someone not realizing what they have until someone else shows an interest in them. I feel like the book plot was way better with him falling for her on his own and gaining a new sense of respect and admiration for her after finding out she’s whistledown instead of someone else coming along cause it’s always gonna make me root for the person who saw their worth first

But it is what he says in the book, although it was just to his brothers because they were irritating him.

The lengths that Colin will have to go to make me want them to be together is insane. Like they have really made his character as unlikable as possible last season when he was one of my favs at the start and I struggle to see how he would ever make Penelope feel secure and loved in their relationship. I think Debling would genuinely be a great match for her and I am truly rooting for him even though I know it’s gonna be a serious 2nd ML moment sadly. I doubt I will feel satisfied when Penelope ends up with Colin sadly.

To be fair, Colin never actually leads her on. He plays dumb a lot, which is a little hurtful. But I think he genuinely likes her as a friend, but he finds her unattractive on a romantic level. And like everyone else, there does seem to be a level of pity for her. He does have a right to look for someone he finds attractive, and Penelope deserves someone who truly finds her attractive. So I would also personally prefer her to find love with Debling. It could be a way to symbolise the move from little girl (kind of naive, not really knowing the difference between friend and love interest), into mature woman (who knows who she is, and knowing the difference between appreciating a friendly person, and someone who there is a true connection with)

But, alas, we know where this is heading. We have the books. But wouldn't it be thrilling to see the writers blow the lid off this whole story by pairing Penelope with Debling!!!! I wish. Sigh.

Checking the boxes, sadly, does not guarantee love in the world of Bridgerton.
The Prince was perfect for Daphne on paper ... but her heart belonged to Simon. He challenged her and pushed her to be more than the perfect lady.
Edwina is a perfect diamond and passed Anthony's questions with ease .... but it waa Kate that could match, challenge and even beat him. That caught his heart and passions.
Debbing might be perfect on paper but sadly looks to be going the same way.

It took many, many years for Colin to come up to par in the books. By eliminating that time for him to mature, it makes it more difficult to write him as the hero. Also, book Colin never proposed to another woman besides Pen. However, I think somehow it will all still work out and he and Pen will be together in the end.

Okay ik it’s easy to criticize Colin for not initially showing interest in Pen but to be fair, she was his little sisters best friend and friend to him. I don’t blame him for not realizing she was in love with him right away. I think now it happens because they’re in more adult situations together which provided the opportunity for him to see Pen outside of the family friend role she’s played since meeting him. I don’t think it’s that Colin didn’t respect her, I just think he never considered anything outside of platonic with her because she was a friend of his sisters and never really presented herself to him outside of that frame. I don’t think it’s fair to reprimand him for not realizing something she never vocalized to begin with. Can’t wait for this season tho! I love to see Pen gaining confidence.

No. Penelope was showing respect by calling him; "Mr Bridgerton", put also the main point that she was DISTANCING herself from him. Only lovers or family members of opposite gender would call each other by their first name. So she was saying that they weren't going to be close and personal with each other anymore.
Collin doesn't like that so he isn't trying to be disrespectful, he just doesn't want to lose that closeness between them.

Honestly before the trailer came out I was 100% for Polin but when Lord Debling came onto the screen and clearly noticed Pen for the beautiful and amazing woman she is I was sold and I wouldn’t mind if Pebling becomes real; when he says “you look especially beautiful tonight” he’s saying she looks beautiful to him anyways so I’m definitely going to be torn. I really hope they don’t ruin his character to make Colin looks better. Colin definitely needs to work for Penelope and make up for his horrible comment about Pen at the end of season 2.

Colin is still end game. Lord Debling was introduced just to help him realise that Pen is more than just a friend and his feelings run deeper than just friendship.
Personally, I think this is a really great way to adapt to the book. I’ve read the book and it is very internal dialogue. He in that for me, like it seems like the easiest way to translate that on screen would be to give Penelope someone else to have as a suitor so that Colin can realize like oh she’s not just a friend to me

@@CaRLaiTJiE what I meant in my last post is that Shonda has a lot of freedom to rewrite the story line with twists and turns. Yes Collin will end up with Penelope because of the frame of the book that’s what’s going to happen, however the plot twists are great.
I feel it would be great if Penelope chooses lord Debling in the end. It could be a grand new start for her with someone whom respects her from the very first moment they met. Colin has never really taken her serious.

I want Penelope to end with lord debling ...there is nothing wrong with colin. But colin doesn't seem right .just because they are friends and Penelope has crush on him , it doesnt mean they have to be end game ...colin is a seeker who is looking for something to fill the void ..and Penelope doesnt seem like that .or I think plot is not doing service to these characters

You are majorly ignoring a lot about the whole filming tracking. Like Colin and Penelope standing right next to each other when the Bridgertons are waving off Francesca at the very end of the season and to add in your talk of courtship/society rules if Penelope married Debling, she wouldn't be with the Bridgertons (included in the family gathering wishing Francesca the best), let alone standing right beside Colin. It wouldn't even be appropriate for Colin and Penelope to remain friends, especially as close as they've been.
They are also wearing matching colors in those pictures, like spouses do. Even Anthony and Kate are doing so in the clip and the promos we got of them.
Debling is NOT in episode 4 of the first half and he is only in 1 episode of the second half (It's like 1 episode?) and not the last episode, but Penelope is in it.
Colin and Penelope sleep together. That is coming directly from Luke N. and Nicola. If Debling were the one; as you wish, he wouldn't take too kindly to that.
The Asian lady that he kisses the hand of was just to show the swagger they said he comes home from his trip with and nothing more. There is actually strong evidence, evidence that ties to Queen Charlotte even that she is a Symth-Smith daughter. That family has a whole book to themselves. They are most likely setting up a potential spin-off of them with her inclusion.
You ignored the fact that in the trailer Colin isn't still oblivious as you wish him to be. He is starting to realize his feelings for Penelope, thus the talk with his mother about friendship being the most important basis for love.
Colin is staring longingly at Penelope (to which you are using shots of while saying he isn't feeling anything, in this very video LOL) Him feeling his feelings for Penelope is confirmed again by Luke N. and Nicola while reacting to the trailer (them sitting super close and cozy to mimic their characters) They said that 8 times in that trailer he is looking longingly at Penelope. That is NOT being oblivious to his feelings.
There is also symbolism placed in the trailer about him realizing his feelings with his room candlelight going from a very small flame to bright flame all by itself while he is in the background, as Luke N. said himself (See the above point) called it looking longingly (thinking about Penelope).
For your information the trailer you're referencing is just for episodes 1-4. This trailer is not going to show the full-on stuff between Polin because that happens in the second half (episodes 5-8) which is the most important half due to it having all the courting/making it official stuff between Colin and Penelope. When he tells Lady Featherington that they are engaged and that is all that will need to be done when it comes to them being able to marry. Lady Featherington will be over the mood.
The foreshadowing in the previous seasons also confirm they are staying with the book couple. Penelope telling him what he should do when he is in love. He should declare it assuredly, fervently, loudly. Which is what he does in their book in front of everyone. Therefore, the show foreshadowing him doing just as he does in their book and then not doing it would make the foreshadowing horribly weird and then would stick out like a sore thumb upon rewatch.
Shonda Rhrimes has said the book couples will get their love stories. (Book couples/The same characters getting together.)
Polin is Shonda Grimes's favorite couple. You really think she'd not have them be endgame? Uh Nope.

The whole Eloise and Cressida hanging out is set up for something that happens in the second half to do with Cressida and Lady Whistledown. I 100 percent believe they a reworking how Cressida finds out. My guess is Eloise lets something slip. Then we will get protective husband Colin.
One of my most favorite things is that Colin and Penelope's ship name is right up the Bridgerton's ally. Polin (Pollen?) and Bees? You get the picture or at least I want to believe you should, Idk anymore. Whereas Pebling represents nothing.
The tie-in book that will have the endgame couple of the season on the cover, would become unsaleble due to false advertising. Unless they want to make Julia Quinn and the merchandising department lose sales of the tie-in books.

I found it interesting that Penelope's suitor is a man with enough attributes to terrify Colin. He's not someone inferior...I read the book and I didn't like the fact that everything was very easy for Colin, that Penelope asked to be kissed by him so as not to die without knowing what it's like to be kissed and Colin's immaturity at the same time. discover that she is Lady W.
oh, you make compelling arguments... but the heart wants what it wants; and Pen wants Colin, and Colin will eventually want her too. ... Plus I doubt the show will stray this far from the books; doing that to the book/show's fans would be infuriating.

Oh relax, Lord Debling is the Prince of this season. Added only for drama and jealousy. Nicola had said that she broke a piece od furniture in sex scene and it says everything. It would be Polin only. This is bridgerton show not featherington. It's not about Pen. It's about Colin.
nice theory however the actors have confirmed that there's multiple extremely intimate scenes between Colin and Penelope and even if they aren't married at any of those points, I don't think Penelope would marry dealing once she knows Collin has feelings

I hope for this season they will change them around so that Penelope will happily marry someone who actually deserves her. This is not Colin and it will never be Colin- he has taken her for granted for far too long and absolutely does not deserve the grace that she gives them. The ending of season two is a perfect example of this. If he truly wanted/respected her as a friend, then he would’ve never put her down in that way and would’ve been mindful of her feelings as a person.

Colin in the books is a wonderful husband. He’s sweet, attentive, and very VERY protective of his wife. He’d always been sweet and caring to her, and even more so as a husband. TV Colin is a bit of an airhead sometimes, but he’s always been sweet and caring to Penelope, and as shown with her uncle, he’s very protective of her too. In the books, and obviously the upcoming season of the show, he realizes that he grew to love her over time. He and Daphne talk about how love isnt a “first sight” kind of thing. It grows and changes with time.
