If the shark had worked, the film would never have been as good as it turned out. They used your imagination and a few yellow barrels to make you sit on the edge of your seat and it worked brilliantly 😊

It battles with the RC plane on an weather balloon. I think a swedish guy did it 10 years ago. He was also often at flitetest. This was awesome. I think someone else did it after that too.

First of all, great job. I'd be inclined to take that to the beach and ....you know. Now an observation, it looks more like a black tip reef shark than a great white ?? And, your obviously a very talented guy, why not servo drive the 2 shafts for the pectoral fins and make them work like sub bow planes?? You'd then be able to make it dive and surface on the fly. Great video. Have fun, stay well.
This is a work of precision animatronic engineering that would would definitely interest Hollywood. Matter of fact it won't be a surprise if offers start to be made for the patent on this innovative design. The shark is eerily lifelike and would scare the bejeebers out of swimmers in a pool, before they realized it wasn't real .

That is REALLY cool. I always wanted to build an RC shark - actually got as far as building a wooden mould for the body - but never got around to completing it.
Maybe keep on trying! This guy's control mechanism is super simple and easy to replicate. Not sure about the MHz radio, but I think the body work is what's really challenging.

It looks friggin awesome! Would love to see servos run the the forward fins AoA why for remotely controlled diving/surfacing. The "cherry on top" would be propulsion via the tail like a real shark. ^^

Magnificent work! Now it needs adjustable rods in the fins for pitch, yaw, and roll that can be controlled by the RC. I also think it would be particularly cool if the mouth had the ability to open and close to increase or decrease water intake, or, better-yet, a waterproof camera in the mouth that can let you see and navigate at depth. Some further improvements for greater durability like a rubber or bulletproof plastic might also prove useful in an updated model; a "Humpty 2.0" if you will.

The next version the pect fins should be able to tilt a little. Two servos either in the fins or a linkage through the pipes would be so awesome! I would love to build my own

Already done (twice actually). The last 5fter that I did had that feature, but it was of dubious advantage in practical application.

Super impressive and cool as hell. Being an aficionado of all things RC this thing is an absolute masterpiece. I believe you said this was V5 and I am very curious how long it took you to work the kinks out and get Humpty to operate efficiently (also curious to know if you have any type of engineering background). Not sure if you want to disclose this but if a customer commissioned you to make another Humpty, what would you charge?
