GREAT VIDEO!!! Love the camera view. I wonder with the miniaturization of FPV cameras these days could you put an FPV camera hooked to an actual periscope that you could look around? That would be cool!
in fresh water deeper than 20 feet. But, if you can't see it, you can't drive it. So, as a practical matter, about three feet under is the norm. Usually no deeper than periscope depth.
Could a gyro be used to stabilize the keeling? RC subs seem to have an issue with staying upright, when they're not steering. It detracts from the realism. maybe the currents are just too strong?
Great great awesome vid and just love yours boat at flank bell. Uncredible under sea shots. Im a retired Submarine Sailor of fast attack boats. Just love this. How deep can an RC sub go? I realize that there are alot of variables in that question so how deep can youre boat go?
Love the vid!!! But i though you would do one of your old maneuvers and pull the prop and shaft out of that dd with your sail. Great resolution on your camera!!!!!
Hey, Tom. You bum! We gonna see you at Groton this year? No, I won't get too aggressive with this model -- put too much work in the paint and weathering to tear it up like that. I love these little 808 cameras now that they are true high definition and feature wide-angle lenses. Technology on parade!
David Merriman I wish i could.. groton looks like its Looking like fun again im thinking of next year now that i have one of tims 1/72 victorIII’s That sub is the model i have been waiting on for along time!! I will put in for vaca next year
@@tomspettel3646 Oh, that's right you got one of those. Got mine. Tim does excellent work. I'm so looking forward to this project. Hey …. when I get around to propeller and detail parts, remind me and I'll send you a set. Groton: next year. BE THERE!
David Merriman for sure im really looking foward to the victor III build!!!! Are you gone start on it after the 1/96 alpha? I cant wait for the prop your going to make!!!!
@@montigobear I said that this is a great model! My friend served for this. Try to make 705th project. "Lyra" is an excellent submarine. It is like a fighter among submarines.
@@Vash_Kep Thanks for the English. Much appreciated, sir. Yes, the LYRA class boats look to be good in-fighting boats. If I ever get my hands on some good drawings I might produce a kit.

The mounted u/w camera makes it tail-heavy when out of the water, but displaces its own weight when in the water, so does not disturb u/w trim or maneuverability much.
Who put the camera there? Duh! And whatever is wrong with the engine? - Sounds terrible! Good grief! It would be more interesting to watch worms mate! :-)

As a 7 year old boy I would have loved one of these. As a 60 year old man nothing has changed. Great hobby.
Nice looking model Dave, great to see you still doing awesome work!
Hey, Matt! This guy knows his stuff and a complement from him is a good thing.

Cavitation, the submariner's most hated enemy.🥱
Great underwater performance and fun video.
Some great times I had at old Trashmore...Greetings Dave from Rick
Where does the club meet?
Very interesting way to capture underwater video! Well done, great video.
How deep does this submarine can go down before It loses radio signal range?
in fresh water deeper than 20 feet. But, if you can't see it, you can't drive it. So, as a practical matter, about three feet under is the norm. Usually no deeper than periscope depth.

Thanks. What about with an onboard camera and screen on transmitter, like Quadcopters have, you know, guided by video?

Do you go to Nauticus to show your models regally? I'd love to go over there to watch.
Every month of the summer years unless we're in the middle of a Chinese biological attack, of course.
What controller did you use?
Wfly transmitter squirting out 75mHz. I think the receiver is an off-brand no longer available.
Just subscribed. Fantastic
How do you get reception that far under water?
anything under 300mHz passes through fresh water good enough. The typical 2.4gHz r/c systems won't punch through water. Period.
@@montigobear what kind of transmitter are you using? Is it specifically made for underwater use?

Can you list the parts..
Nope. I'm not your parts-bin.
Should have fitted torpedoes to your sub. Things might have turned out differently....
