Someone sure had enough caffeine for the day lol But seriously, straight and to the point just like how all other RUclips videos should be. Thanks for not wasting our time with any nonsense and getting all your points across clearly and efficiently. Subbed!
this video is why I love the channel so much, so much info, without going to overboard.... welcome to mining to everyone who's thinking about it for 2018!... may the hashrate be ever in your favor
OC tuning is where the kids are going to cry and give up, only man will survive , they'll learn how to drink coffee! I needed almost one year (include tuning part) to learn by my self what you taught here. Great job!
that was mouth full that i think i can truly say im just as tired as u are after that i felt all the times ive done this in that voice but u have talent with it
I'm a casual miner sitting on 10 cards of all price range. My rig building strategy is always used market>new parts. Aside from GPU and PSU which has the most critical effect to the mining operation, i go for cheap 3x PCIE h81/p67 mobos, most of them can be bought from china at about 25$/pc. The rams are cheap as well, about 15$ for 2x2GB. LGA1155 celeron is about 8$ or so. The total cost for me building a rig without psu and gpu is averagely 90$. I also look for usable parts in my old parts pile like i have found old sata HDDs, cpu fans, rams, and recently, a i3-2100. For PSU, i either go for a good 600W for 3 cards or a cheap 400W for each cards, depending on the gpu i'm using. Don't let the 80+ stuff fools you, it doesn't really represent the built quality of the psu, i have a 10$ AVF peasant PSU worked for 8 years and a expensive as fuck 80$ EVGA dead within 6 months. The trick is to keep the load low, i recommend 40% or below, this way you keep the psu cool and quiet. GPU is rather tricky but can be easy if you do some research on different models offered by each manufacturer. I.E. those fancy RGB GPU is definitely not the choice as the LED usually means expensive. Don't go for cheap cards as well (unless they come with good warranty policy), there's reason why they are cheap. Lastly, ROI, anything more than 200 days is not worth it right now, consider most are of old generation that is to be replaced by their upcoming successor. Adding on that, the bubble is going to burst, just no one knows the exact time, could be tomorrow or a few years later, don't be greedy, sell what you mine, keep some if you wanna risk.
One thing not mentioned about mining rigs, and my recent situation, is the power usage and whether your household wiring, breakers, etc. can handle it. My example: 2 rooms of my house have outlets that are wired to the same 15 amp breaker in my breaker box. At 120volts, the power most USA households use, this is 1800watts maximum before the breaker in the box cannot handle it. Further, since you are running this mining rig 24/7, electricians recommend multiplying that 1800 * .8 = 1,440 watts for safety. Lastly, remember, this is the total power draw through this breaker. Have anything else plugged in too? (Older homes would connect the room's lights and outlets together to the same breaker. Further, even older homes may hit their maximum power draw... for the entire house... of the main 125 amp breaker if you build a few rigs.) So, using the pre-undervolting settings of the video's rig, at 1,250 watts, you cannot plug much else into ANY other outlet on the same 15 amp breaker... or it will trip. And, remember... this was a 6 580 system, not an 8 card system. Using a specific manufacturer's PSU calculator, and putting 8 Nvidia 1080 Ti's in a system (along with a selection of the same base parts the video used), and you "need" a 2,200 watt PSU at load on the system. Lower that by a bit for average vs. load, but... the breaker won't handle it. Have money, and want to build two? Most definitely forget it. So, if you pay off that first system and want to build a second one, be careful with your household's wiring, breakers, etc.
Your previous video about how cheap you can go help to build my mining rig. You didn't give all the information you're giving in this one so I had to do my own research before buying the parts. It's satisfactory that most of the things you mentioned here are very similar to what I got from the research. Actually I have one RX 570 and a GTX 1070, but I'm adding at least 4 more cards in a near future (I soon as I get my risers from China. There isn't other option to pick from my country). Thanks for giving me the initial information I needed. Go ahead with this series so other people can learn about it -including me-. I still need information on how to get the maximum from my cards. 11:00 when it comes to rizers I would recommend picking up as many as possible. That way you not only have plenty for backup in case one doesn't work but you also have expandability if you want to make a larger mining rig.
Fantastic, Can't wait for more, I have 36 gpus but only 28 running and much of them mining sub-optimal coins because trying to get windows (for nice hash/awesomeminer) to recognize all 6 cards per mobo without error 43 has been an absolute nightmare.
For my 6 GPU build, I also had one bad riser out of 6. Luckily I had a spare on hand, but I only isolated the stupid riser after troubleshooting literally everything else, including a format and re-install.
I'm building a rig, but it seems I'm basically waiting for the next big breakthrough to occur before I drop a load on some GPU's. If you had to guess, what is a "must have" in the next round of gpu based mining?
LMAO I am 3 years into the Marine corps and just realizing that I can use the free electricity in the barracks to mine. IF YOU ARE IN MILITARY USE THE FREE ELECTRICITY WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!!!
I've read that the best way to keep a system economical (both for electricity costs, and longevity of parts) is to not load your power supply more than 50-60% if you're planning on running it 24/7. Getting your rig down to 875 on a 1200 watt supply puts you close to that range. Any experience running a psu at near max wattage 24/7?
I drove from Cape Town to Wootware this morning, the dude at reception was not very friendly, not very helpful, and i had the impression that I could not go soon enough. I had a credit card with money for 5 x 1070 gaming cards for a few people that I introduced to your channel in the last 10 days, Wootware also does not have card facilities ??. Back at home now, gave all back their money, too much of a struggle
you are A W E S O M E Brett!! .. did you ever manage to get over that rock? ..lol just fantastic video great energy as always :) u r a gem! .. Alfred... last praise..lol
Hey UFD. For next video, show how you build a mining rig. The actually chassi that is, those aren't cheap if you buy a pre-built one and its bound to increase revenue + vewiers.
I'am using Asus Prime Z270-P with 8 MSI Armor RX570 , wtih a G3930 and 4gb ram, and 2 m.2.0 adaptor to pciex. and set PCIEX to GEN 2 in bios.I'am using 2 Corsair TX750w to power the rig. In ETH 206mh/s for 1160watts for the 8 card!
Really Good Video. Much Better for new people to mining compared to channels and answers most questions good job. (Just So you Know There Is No Bubble...)
i'm 100% with you on the ssd over hdd. obviously usb stick too but that's another ball game i.m.o. sure it costs more money but you're buying convenience and ease of use. i don't even restart my pcs that much but when im changing things around or doing some multi tasking setups i much prefer my pcs with ssds over the one with a hdd it's just easier to be more productive. i totally understand the $5 used hdd argument and that's totally cool but ssds have there place too.
Going to the hardware store for wood and screws? or you could check the local business/industry and check their disposal piles, there is usually a lot of free wood and nails to be scored there. Or if you want prettier wood pieces the scrap pile of the local carpenter shop will be very happy to sell or even just give you scrap wood, or again, check their garbage. :^)
Maybe you should check about doing an article on renting time on supercomputers to get them to mine for you that is not flare hash just the prices and what kind of speed they could do hashing
tips from an old doge miner...yeah before it was cool. when trying to pick a coin to mine. its best not to swap every day, stick with one that has a low difficulty/price most of the time. but has peaks that are worth more, IE you are looking for something that has a flat trend line.. this signifies market stability in the coin, even if you have a mining beast that does xmr at 4mhs. you would still rather mine ETN solid for a month, regardless of weather or not its at the most profit at that moment. because once you have a large stash, you can dump them on the exchange at set them for a high price that has been reached before. they make take longer to sell but the profit is significantly more.
Can you get a mining performance decrease if you use a card which splits up 1x slot into 4 16x slots? If you can do you think it would cause problems with asus' bios for say x370 boards.
I absolutely love your videos, and this video has helped me a lot already. Can we expect a part two of this series? I really stand blank when it comes to picking OS and setting up the software
Hey I just subscribed, amazing videos dude, i think i've watched 6 so far! Could you make one exactly like this, except literally how to put everything together from box to functioning system connected to the bitcoin mining software. And then another video on how to set-up and start the software connected to this new computer rig from the very first step, to mining the actual crypto-currency and converting it to your actual bank account? Just an idea if you feel like making some more videos, this would be indescribably helpful. Thanks for these videos you already have man!
Ohh yesss I'm so excited!! Thanks man, I've been watching all your videos all day now haha Thanks for the great content! And nice Packer shirt, I'm from Wisconsin ha!
Great video I would love to see a video on the best and how to set up the software. Ill be putting my 1st miner together soon and spent about 1,000 the alt coin i am looking at will pay off this system at 180 to 220 day depends on the Dif level. Your videos have helped me greatly and i choose to do this so if it doesn't work its on me.
Bad Azz, video. Just letting my future fellow miners know!! Mining and making money is addicting!!! Watch this video 4 times if you have to because it has a ton of info in it.
can you do a follow up on what kind of mobos / GPU's to avoid (for features not price.. eg bad hashrate / not as many gpus supported as advertised) ? thanks ! also my fav vid by far has been on heating your room using a mining rig. its the only way to justify the power cost of all dis new fangle tech (cryptos)
Hey Brett, Thanks for another awesome video. You guys rock! Quick query on choosing GPUs. I've recently bought 2x Gigabyte RX 570 Aorus 4GB cards. I've flashed both as per your previous vids (Another big thanks), OC and undervolt profiles are the same and they both have Hynix memory. Im using claymore dual miner and the one card is giving me a decent 26 MH/s but the other only 20 MH/s. Do you think this is normal and maybe just an unlucky chip on the grandpa card?
Another brilliant and entertaining video!!!! Your videos are so much fun to watch than the ones from the other guy who always talks about tunnels and bears :P :D
In 100 years you may start recovering from the power usage alone, another couple hundred years you might actually start paying off that dusty old video card LOL.
@UFDisciple I had a question for your show to explore. 1 1080ti vs 8 1050ti, which would be a better value? Cost of 1 1080ti is almost $800 US vs 1 1050ti less than $100 US. Thoughts?
Gridcoin is a bit of an odd duck in that a powerful CPU (and potentially more RAM) is actually an asset instead of a liability, since BOINC projects are the mining workload.
Someone sure had enough caffeine for the day lol
But seriously, straight and to the point just like how all other RUclips videos should be. Thanks for not wasting our time with any nonsense and getting all your points across clearly and efficiently. Subbed!
Yeah ill take overcaffinated over slow drawn out boring videos that never get to the point.
This guy is a machine. Clear and concise. No pause or breaks. No thimble or anything. Awesome video 👌🏻
this video is why I love the channel so much, so much info, without going to overboard.... welcome to mining to everyone who's thinking about it for 2018!... may the hashrate be ever in your favor

watching the cameraman move whilst you stand there and talk in most scenes makes me feel like i'm watching a CAM movie
Beavis got a real job...I just changed my mind. This is an excellent video.
Your probably the most entertaining mining rig builder. Fun forums, and good education. I would appreciate a brand new break down on graphics cards.
Dude, my mind is blown! I can't wait to build my own mining rig. I'll be using all of you Amazon links.

Great content. You answered a bunch of questions I've had about mining rigs that I've not found answers to elsewhere on RUclips.
Okay, you are a really talented youtuber. Not saying that just because of the topic, you keep it so interesting while teaching so much
Now teach us how to properly use the different mining programs from scratch such as claymore ❤️😉
Awesome Miner is simple 👌🏻👍🏻

As a South African, I really appreciate that you also sum up in Rands. Well done!
Why you so good at RUclips. Like really dude you’re going to be 100k soon. I’m calling it now.
+Ross Mauck Thanks my friend. Really means a lot.
You are a natural teacher. Very impressed with the content. You have inspired me to take the leap. Thanks mate
Nice infomercial you should put this on TV. You got the energy that Billy Mays had. Just subscribed.
11:00 when it comes to rizers I would recommend picking up as many as possible. That way you not only have plenty for backup in case one doesn't work but you also have expandability if you want to make a larger mining rig.

For my 6 GPU build, I also had one bad riser out of 6. Luckily I had a spare on hand, but I only isolated the stupid riser after troubleshooting literally everything else, including a format and re-install.
I feel like I was sitting in the room, in a chair getting yelled at haha but this was helpful thanks

Although I have the same setup as your recommendation I still can’t help finish watching this awesome video. Nice job!
I love how the prices are already wrong in spite of only being 2 weeks ago. No hate on UFD, the pricing shifts are just ridiculous.

Crazy Eddy Jr. the only thing that's missing is him screaming "These prices are Insane"
Gave it a like because of the 1080p60 keep up making great content
Tried the Z270-A , big hassel, ended up returning and getting B250 Mining export and it worked first shot.. no problems.
This was intense. Meds may need to be checked.

If price plummets, mine the coin that you can sell for the most eth, neo, xlm, or Raiblocks. It'll pay off in magnitudes when a new bubble forms.

When he went in about windows loading and the ssd made me laugh and sub at the same time! Great video!
I love love LOVE your unbridled enthusiasm!!
Really Good Video.
Much Better for new people to mining compared to channels and answers most questions good job. (Just So you Know There Is No Bubble...)
Part 2? Also any possibility that you can show us how you built your setup?
Well done, it shows you went through a few such builds and have lots of practice.

Here in UK where the company is located, everyone is mining with them haha including me. they give good daily profits.
UFD Tech good video, good job.
Thanks friend!
Great video. Looking forward to the next part.

I picked up a old xeon, Mb with 6 pcie slots a cpu cooler and 2gb of ram for 70 bucks. works great for me :)
Very nice. You running Linux with that 2GB of RAM?
UFD Tech yessir, I've had less problems and restarts with Ubuntu over windows.
+Richard Duvall Makes sense. Glad it's working out for you!
Maybe you should check about doing an article on renting time on supercomputers to get them to mine for you that is not flare hash just the prices and what kind of speed they could do hashing
Finally!! Thanks for this vid man! (P.s. your channel is better than linus tech tips 😁)

Can you get a mining performance decrease if you use a card which splits up 1x slot into 4 16x slots? If you can do you think it would cause problems with asus' bios for say x370 boards.
Excellent explanation sir!
He sounds like a cross between Parker Schnabel & Jesse Eisenberg ;) Thanks for the video dude. I had time for this..
I absolutely love your videos, and this video has helped me a lot already. Can we expect a part two of this series? I really stand blank when it comes to picking OS and setting up the software
Thank you for including the South African pricing, appreciated.
you need as much RGB as possible, rainbows attract coins
No truer words have been spoken.
This has been so helpful
Thanks for the video. Do you speak about Windows vs. Linux and which is better and then a how to guide for the install?
Entertaining and informative. Thanks.
That would be parts 2 & 3
Ohh yesss I'm so excited!! Thanks man, I've been watching all your videos all day now haha Thanks for the great content! And nice Packer shirt, I'm from Wisconsin ha!
Thank you very much for such informative and in-depth information
+Nate Schepis You're welcome!
Great video I would love to see a video on the best and how to set up the software. Ill be putting my 1st miner together soon and spent about 1,000 the alt coin i am looking at will pay off this system at 180 to 220 day depends on the Dif level. It would be nice if Wootware will do a bundle price for this rig with the exact specs used in this video. ( saving time and money for us normal folk?)
Bad Azz, video. Just letting my future fellow miners know!! Mining and making money is addicting!!! Watch this video 4 times if you have to because it has a ton of info in it.
awesome video, this duude took like 3 breaths total
:D :D :D I edit the breaths out to save time. :P
can you do a follow up on what kind of mobos / GPU's to avoid (for features not price.. eg bad hashrate / not as many gpus supported as advertised) ? thanks ! also my fav vid by far has been on heating your room using a mining rig. its the only way to justify the power cost of all dis new fangle tech (cryptos)
Well done! Very energetic!
Excellent video
Great video. Can't wait to hang out on stream tonight
Excelent video man!
Love the Video! Love the Energy! Keep up the great work!
Thanks friend!
Awesome video :) Is part 2 coming out any time soon?
I really liked the rig build. My only request is that you have a less shaky camera.
Awesome video. Thanks!
Great video man!
His not BORING hahaha... Love this guy. Thank you for learnings
really enjoyed this vide, was needing something like this to decide what i wanted to do for a rig
Do you think this is normal and maybe just an unlucky chip on the grandpa card?
bro your channel is amazing! your videos are always on point and the most helpful I can ever find on RUclips. keep doing what you do
+Sittin Sideways Gaming Will do!
Another brilliant and entertaining video!!!! Your videos are so much fun to watch than the ones from the other guy who always talks about tunnels and bears :P :D
good job, crazy camera movement lol
Awesome video!
what was the total of the build and what profit do u make?THANKS I WAS WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO
Thoughts?
Layoff the red bull. That stuff with make your heart explode.
