How others spoke with roses on their tongue and could laugh along with everyone - but yet that i couldn't be like them, i was in the way. Now, i listen to this for the first time in a long while, and i find myself in the second half. Reaching out, moving forward, sharing what helped me with others. And remembering what it took to speak up and smile via the first part. And i still do feel the first part, because feeling unwanted or annoying comes and goes. But i talk to others now, I've got the confidence to walk up to the new kid or be a role model to the youngers. That's all that really matters to me. Gosh i love this song. So much. Outside of the canon meaning a lot of people seem to think of this song as a trans thing, but personally it describes the experience of selective mutism or being nonverbal autistic way too well for me to see it as anything else. I know that's probably a more niche experience but god this song basically describes it perfectly.
