Move the lamb's ear to be with your purple and pink flowers for a pretty contrast. Though many folks don't love the stachys flower, I can't help but notice how much the bees love them in my gardens. I'm all for supporting our pollinators and the flower has so many clusters for the bees to easily move on. They are lovely to touch when not blooming, so maybe close to a walkway. Just found you recently and for me, watching your videos is a fun/peaceful respite. Lots of great tips and items, and your crew is awesome. All of you have such a friendly nature. Thank you for providing this content for us all!

I would leave the lambs ear , put a couple other clusters of it along the brick wall area . I think planting a silver falls to drape and cascade down the wall in several areas would look stunning ! The lighter color / smooth texture, like the lambs ear , would off set all the other plant foliage texture you have along the wall. It will actually lead your eye through the garden to where your other lighter shade color plants are, hydrangeas,. Also trimming the flower off of the lambs ear will definitely give it a different look that you may like better.thanks for your videos, it’s my zen to watch. 🥰

🌿💗💐 Regarding the Lamb's Ear, I offer two options. Option 1 is to divide it into 3 total pieces and evenly distribute it along the wall. (I have the same issue with the silver plants. They are too bright for my taste but they have exploded for me. It is counterintuitive to add more but distributing it evenly makes a positive difference). Option 2 is to relocate it closer to the corner which eliminates the disruption it is creating for you (of the lush greens), but helps anchor the corner and ties in with the dusty miller on the other side of the front walkway. 😅 💗🌿

I’d divide the lambs ear into small chunks so you can create rhythm and contrast along the brick wall. I’m thinking about six to eight feet apart but it’s hard to tell scale on the screen.
I’d even continue it all the way back to the gate if/when you have enough. Plant them next to the wall and they’ll drape just a bit.
Then I’d put something red behind the lambs ear where the original clump was to break up the green around it.
    It will be gorgeous!!

Thanks to Linda on two counts today: 1) Removing male pumpkin/squash flowers to promote more females. That was my problem with summer squash last year! 2) Convincing me to pinch plants...with proof. And a belated hats-off for making me a believer in her backyard vision. Took me a while but I love it. Says something about ignoring the naysayers. Side note: I'd move the lamb's ear, as much as I love that plant, simply because there are no visible cool echoes along that warm stretch. Either take it out or mix in more silvers/grays. I'm for removing because, for me, that is a visual extension of "autumn's edge" with its warmer tones.

I agree with you Linda as far as the Lamb’s Ear not looking ideal in that spot. I have a great idea which I just did myself for my Lamb’s Ear, put them in pots!!! They look so good in a contrasting container color like black, and then you can move them anywhere you want to give extra contrast / interest to your “theatre” of potted plants. I find I’m enjoying them more this way.
Thanks for another great video as always and still making time for your “RUclips Family” in the midst of all your busyness! Enjoy every minute while your son is visiting as well!!!🥰

MY TIP OF THE DAY . . . I got a 5 foot standard/topiary red Knockout rose for Mother's Day. It is top heavy in its 20 inch terracotta pot. A tall wooden stake was not working. So, I had a 5 foot shepherds hook and I used it and it works beautifully. The design of the bottom makes for a firm grip and I wove the hook among the branches which helps to strengthen it. I tied it to the trunk of the rose with a soft cord. It is not even noticeable. Problem solved! --Sheila McDade in Chattanooga, TN

I love lambs' ears for my garden since they grow in very tough conditions. You do not seem to have the same challenges I do (deer predation and a rocky soil area) so you have the option of putting in a plant that better fits your vision. As for issues here, we seem to have more slugs than ever and are experiencing the dreaded spongy moth caterpillars.🦋🦋🦋

    Yes, relocate the “grey blob.”
Overall, your garden looks so pretty!
Linda, I’ve read that yes, deer won’t eat rocket barberry, but as they pass by with deer ticks on their hide, the barberry attracts the type of ticks that carry lyme disease. The ticks make a home for themselves at the base of the rocket barberry.
I can’t give you the source of where I read that but I decided, with all the deer around where I live, growing pretty rocket barberry is not worth the risk of getting lyme disease.
You likely don’t have deer in your urban setting.

Beautiful garden that you know very well and love! You don't seem too thrilled with the location of your lamb's ears so I would remove them and maybe put some in a new location. I agree, I think a boxwood would look good with the others along the wall. I was going to do some installations today;hydrangeas, sedum, and add another heuchera around the tree in the backyard, mulch etc, but land is just too wet although indoor plants need to be taken care of along with cooking and garage could be neatened up! We have also had alot of rain in Indiana so contractors are backed up & the bottom of the shed looks like groundhogs are chewing on the wood. They'll get here one day! Thank you,Linda for your fun video & have a great day!

If you are not happy with the lambs ear, I say move it. Personally, I love the contrast and the texture of lambs ear In a garden. I really keep mine at bay though. They spread like crazy if I don't. Pretty walk about your garden. Thanks for sharing.

Whatever happened to the seeds you planted in back of the garage by the street? I love your 🧣 scarf. Thanks
