    Short answer. No. Especialy if you are thinking of getting your own truck and have no consistent work lined up already. By the time you pay for fuel, truck finance, parking, maintenance and driver wages. £200 loads a day wont cut it. You will be bankrupt in no time and if you price loads at what these companies should be paying, you simply won't get any work. As you will always be out bidded.

    Courier exchange is only 5-10% of
    UK loads moved in the haulage exchange etc
    Most companies dont want or rely on return loads as tgey are delivering to their own stores etc
    Day in day out etc
    Couriers need to get their own customers 1st and use Courier exchange as a back up only and possibly have a part time job as well as the Courier exchange

      I agree but getting your own customers is rather difficult.

      My own personal opinion, the exchange is getting worse every year. They keep on taking on more and more drivers for their subscription fees and there is less and less work, so you are working for around between 0.65-0.95p a mile. The issue is it's even difficult getting these jobs..I would only recommend the exchange of you have your own customers

    It is hard on Cx today...low volume of work created battle to book a job therefore cheap prices, like 2021... think twice before you make a decision

    If you’re a experienced courier with other work.
    Courier exchange is a extra source off work and great for contacts.

      @@Coln-yy2xp oh it's not my company, I just drive for them. But I wouldn't invest in such thing as I've seen so many going wrong here already in 2 years. And the best trucks for it are the 18t curtainside with TL. For artic is hard to find return loads so it comes back empty or takes 7.5t 18t jobs. The 7.5t just don't make enough profits. So best is 18t with a large cab and 1-2 nights out per week. Or tramping obviously.

    Most couriers would get more work just by making a 60 second youtube short video advertising their courier service and state your own mileage rates and state prices non negotiable
    Smart plain van
    Smart dress code
    Eg black trousers black t shirt
    black jumper black coat black safety trainers with no colours in the trainers etc
    From my experience as an agency driver for years etc the drivers that wore the above clothing were always sought after by professional companies and always booked first
    And be reliable and always turn up a few minutes early
    Better to wait for the customer whilst drinking a coffee than the customer having to wait for you
    Reliability and capability.and professionalism is more important than a cheap price

    • @TheDomainNameGuy
      @TheDomainNameGuy 5 месяцев назад

      @@leechi001 It might be worth also registering with a nationwide driving recruitment agency because they will get a lot of driver work from driving companies direct that don't need a driver with van they just need a driver or a driver's mate to sit in a truck usually a 7.5t or 18t truck and be a passenger and help the regular driver unload and load the truck etc where all you do is ring the driving agency to let them know which days you are available etc and if they get you work you just drive your van to the customer they send you to and park your van in the company car park and drive their van or truck if you have the licence for a truck etc which will usually already be loaded etc but this driving work won't appear on the courier exchange but is available every day

    I think a lot of it depends on where you live in the UK. I live down on the south coast near Brighton. It's been really slow today and didn't pick up until the afternoon. I've found if I don't get a job booked in for the following morning then it's very unlikely I won't get a job until gone 9 am. It's so bad at the moment I'm seriously thinking of not renewing my subscription when it runs out at the end of the month.
    I also think the CX knows there's not a lot of work around as I've been seeing jobs over 40 miles away from my home when my settings are set at 25 miles. So at this moment in time I would say the Cx is not worth the money.

    Sadly it used to be good but it costs far too much to join, no payments for 30 to 60 days. You need at least £10,000 to keep you going. DO NOT HIRE OR LEASE A VAN. If you can't afford a van, don't bother. Too many people undercutting each other, silly prices.

  • @MikePuplett
    @MikePuplett 5 месяцев назад +1

    It'll be a no from me when renewal comes up. Been almost 7 years now, and worse year on year, with exorbitant subscription costs, and the addition of 'Trustd' has driven me to distraction with its pettiness and nagging emails.

    Too expensive subscription
    Too many people doing it
    Everybody undercutting everyone eg Luton jobs going for 80p per mile
    Vehicle maintenance is too expensive nowadays
    Too many idiots on the road
    Price of fuel
