Hey, really nice tip. I'd like to say I knew this, but honestly, the times surprised me. I've always figured the less detailed the extra pixels were (the cut background here being just brown "wall") the less it mattered. Before you showed the times, I'd have figured you'd have saved 10%-20% removing them. Shows how wrong I was. I usually do a decent job of framing, but I'm definitely going to bear this in mind in future renders.
There's lots of little things you can do to speed things up .. it's amazing how many times people avoid them such as this. I know I often do! As I say though - if there's some artistic reason to use a larger viewport than what's necessary - or a practical reason - then just go as small as you can.
Having started daz this year its insane iv run across your reviews on various things i didn't know you covered render settings iv been asking around through other users who work with daz as im looking to start my 3d webcomics and post character models but i never knew the right render settings to use the aspect ratio part i mean
Thanks for stopping by Tony. Yeah, I'll try and touch on every subject that I can .. big or small .. to help people out. So stick around as they'll be more stuff coming soon!
I'm learning so much from your uploads. Thanks. But I'd like to know what HDRI file you're using, and what lighting rig is in place. I can *never* get that quality of lighting in that short a period of time. TIA. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Tony .. in this video example I'm using this light set from the Daz store tinyurl.com/ydbw85xb ... it uses a basic HDRI and a couple of emissive light sources. But - outside of that, it's just mixing and matching different types of light. I've started a little series on lighting where I'm going to go through each type - HDRIs included. But, as a spoiler, when it comes to HDRI it's really about how you use them rather than which you use.
Eventhough it makes perfect sense and so obvious, I haven't thought of that before! So, thank you very much for this video which is so valuable to me since I have an older laptop with no dedicated graphics card. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video, i did some images last year at 2133 x 1199 but forgot the aspect ratio, trying to do the same size images again but when i set the dimensions the aspect changes, to the same figure, if i change the aspect down the dimensions change, how the heck to i set the image size but set the aspect lower so render times are shorter? On mine it just won't allow it, when i did the first images last year it took around five mines to render with shadows, but now taking forever!
You're welcome. If you're in Daz 4.20.0.5 (latest version - but it might be a problem in an earlier version too) then I think it's bugged out in that instance .. I've noticed this myself from time to time .. best solution I've found is to select a "Dimension Preset (Global)" first .. for example : "Full HD [FHD] / 1080p (16:9 1920 x 1080)" .. and this seems to reset the bug allowing you to put your own aspect ratio / dimensions in again.
Hey Reuben .. top right corner of the viewport next to the camera selector .. there's a menu button (4 lines with a little triangle) .. click on that and select "Show Thirds Guide" ..
Is there a way to save the avatar in 3D format for use in another animation program? Such as Unity, Blender, Zbrush or Maia? Could you teach me how to do it?
Hey MyGames - there are free bridges available in Daz that allow you to easily export Daz models to other apps like Blender, Maya, Unreal, Cinema 4D, Unity etc .. you can see the all options here : tinyurl.com/yxenp7tm Sadly, I don't use them myself so I'm probably not the person to ask for that. I've done it once for Blender to try it out - and it seems simple enough as the bridge does all the hard work ..
Hey Cooper - yes, everything is fine, thanks for asking .. just had a few real life issues to sort out and a couple of technical problems to overcome - but, hopefully, I'll be back with more videos soon!
Yes, 1000 iterations .. Yeah, sorry about that. A few people have reported low sound volumes on some of my earlier videos .. and I've often tried to get to the bottom of it (other than just bluntly amplifying the audio to max in recording) .. for me, either on headphones, speakers or tablet - it sounds fine .. maybe a little quieter than norm, yeah I agree .. but not to the point where I can't hear it (currently, my speakers on my PC are at 20/100 volume and I can hear it fine) - the only time where I experience such quietness is when I watch on my TVs included RUclips app .. if you let me know what you're listening on I'll see if I can replicate it.

It's always the obvious one that we miss, Rafed!!
Great video! Can you do one on how to use the daz scene optimizer script?
I'll add it to my list - thx for the suggestion!
Great, is there a way to render out animation with motion blur using iray?
1:44 is when you mention it
Please can you do a video on how to frame characters
I'll add it to my list and see if I can come up with enough to justify a video

Noob question ?...how do you get the framing grid?

hay Rauko i have a probleam and its to do with my render
Hey there - what seems to be the problem?
what is your GPU config ?
Hey Nico - not great .. running with a 980ti at the moment but am looking to upgrade when the new Ampere cards are released.
@@RaukoDaz3D i hope you still have your 980ti
@@1986Hikaru Hah! not now Darcy .. I've upgraded to a 3090 now .. :)
Please invest in a better mic. It is so quiet and then you hear sound effects and it blowes you away. Its really bad man.
Seriously. I have my volume all the way up and when you talk softly all you can hear is the S in the words. Di you say 1000 interations
