    Great review as always! I have been binge watching your back catalog of videos as I recently discovered your channel. The back and forth conversation is so easy to listen to and a great way to get your varied thoughts on a shoe or topic. I have been a fan of Finn on Run to the Top Podcast for years so am glad to hear his voice here as well as see his face along with a new face in Brett! 😎

    Don’t know if y’all have looked into Asics’ newer TR versions of their shoes but I love the novablast TR for what it is, a road to light trail shoe that moves. It is definitely not for tech, but perfect for fire roads and a great single shoe to travel with! Check them out!

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  3 месяца назад

      Yes That's right the Novablast TR would 100% be in the conversation of a road shoe tuned just ever so slightly for trail. Definitely will have to check them out!

    I started doing trail runs in the original cloud monster and it was surprisingly amazing. Especially going down hill. Worked great until the gravel sized rocks creased the pods into oblivion which only took around 50 miles of mostly up/downhill running

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  3 месяца назад

      I loved the cloudmonster on the trails. I didn't take them on much rock, but I can see how the pods would wear out pretty quickly. Would love to see a cloudmonster trail some day

    Finn: Merrell Long Sky 2! Or Speedland GS:TAM or its progeny. Last weekend I raced the Wild Canyon 50 K in Salomon S/Lab Pulsar 3, which was superb, and won the Grand Master’s. The Genesis would also be terrific, as you point out, beyond 50 K. But keep in mind that overly soft shoes such as the Mafate Speed 4 don’t work for me. Good luck! Hydrate!

    Every time I see an On trail shoe I think of gravel or mud getting stuck in the midsole channels and instantly I despise the cloud design (which I think from day one is just a design gimmick). And then I just enjoy my good-working mud-proof conventional shoe while I’m grinding through the mud or jump from rock to rock. They could copy Nike’s idea with the mesh covering the midsole to avoid debris getting in there but I think they’d have to come up with a fancy name first.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  3 месяца назад

      I have never once gotten mud or gravel stuck in the pods through the sidewalls of the shoe. I used to get stuff stuck in the bottom when there used to be much deeper channels, but their last few trail models have fully fixed that

    The most obvious comparison is the Hoka Challenger. I tried the Hoka Torrent and it was too stiff for my liking. I live in Louisiana so lightweight and breathable are top priorities for me. No rocks, no technical stuff. What would you suggest? I run road in Hoka Mach 5s

    • @ConversationalPace

      This Cloudsurfer Trail could definitely be right in the conversation! I thought this shoe was fantastic on mellow trail, dirt roads, and paved roads.

    Great video! Any squeaking like with the "road" version?

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  3 месяца назад +1

      Just barely but only at the very end of some longer runs, but not while running. Only when walking after the run. No squeaking during an actual run though

      @@ConversationalPace Thanks, so it's like the mild squeaking of the Cloud Eclipse I suppose

    • @ConversationalPace

      Does the squeak come from internally somewhere inside the shoe, or from the outsole?

    another road-to-trail shoe you two gents, or rather fellas, left out is Altra Outroad 2. I love my pair even tho it lasted only 250 miles, but maybe I'll switch. I'm def a trail runner who needs within my rotation a road to trail shoe. I hate running on pave towards the trail with thick lugs

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  3 месяца назад

      I would love to see the Outroad get some of Altra's more premium midsole foams, and I think the fit of that shoe is fantastic.

    쿠션감은 굉장히 좋지만, 안정성이 살짝 부족한게 아쉬운 트런화..
    로드도 아주 좋음! 그러나 좌우 흔들림
    Cloudultra2 보다 안정성이 부족한게 크게 느껴짐. 그러나 다운힐시 앞발 충돌은 없음.
    쿠션이 풍부히고 뛰어난건 크게 매력적!!!

    This or Tomir 2.0? I'm having a hard time trying to find my shoe rotation with the Kjerag.

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  Месяц назад +1

      This and the Tomir are pretty different feeling shoes. The Tomir is a bit firmer, and much more suited for technical and mountainous terrain, whereas this Cloudsurfer Trail works great as a door to trail shoe. For me, I like the Cloudsurfer paired with the Kjerag, because the Kjerag is the shoe I am choosing for more technical terrain in the mountains.

    How does it compare to CloudUltra 2?

    • @ConversationalPace
      @ConversationalPace  3 месяца назад +1

      Cloudultra 2 is firmer and offers better underfoot protection. Better for more pure trail. I would also say it's a bit wider and higher volume in the forefoot than this Cloudsurfer Trail
