Um, no... Just listen to the main intro bass line. The first note (synth bass and bass guitar) is G, followed by a chromatic run of Bb, B, and C (then back to Bb and back to C) - followed by a run of E, F, and G - then G, Bb, G, Bb, G, Bb, and B (rinse and repeat starting on the first C note from this point on)). I admit this is a terrible way to explain it, but it's correct. The chorus root notes are C, Eb, F, and Ab... (the song is in the key of C minor natural). 100% sure, been playing bass and guitar for over 33 years. :)
My first attempt at a bass tab on RUclips (intro/verse, played on the two lowest strings) A string:- - - 1- 2- [ ] 3- 1- 3- - - - - - - - - - - -1- - - 1 - - -1- 2- -3- 1- 3- - - - - - - - - - - - E string:- -3- - - - -[ ]- - - - - - - - 0- 1- -3- - 3 - - -3- - - 3- - - - - - - - - - - - - -0 -1- -3 - - - The first 3 notes is the "pickup bar," which I marked off with a [ ] symbol - it's not the number 11...) So after the first time, ignore the first three notes and start from the 0-1-3 fret E-string riff up until the chorus, which is literally just the 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 11th frets ascending on the A string. Again, not the best way to explain this (using your ears is much better). There's a slight variation at the part that goes "Well it's set way back, in the middle of a field..." Easy as pie, though. I think this is the last time I'm going to do music notation in RUclips comments (what a headache!!) :P
P.S. At least this is how the synth bass part (heard here) goes... I recall the bass guitar part - which is featured on the original version (mixed with the synth bass) - is slightly more complex (with a few more notes / less rests / something...). Just listen to the song - I'm digging myself into a hole here over something super simple!!! :o
If this doesn't do it for you - YA BROKEN! Excellent!
