Life is a gift....a precious one at that. And through the ups and downs...we can show our compelling passion for others along the way. I wanted to learn the guitar because of this fine human. Fire and Rain was out there holding their grief sticken hearts. In October 2017, my house burned to the ground in a massive CA wildfire. My sister got us tickets to see JT play in Sacramento, June 2018, just before we left CA. They gave us 6th row seats....wow. During intermission, he sat at the corner of the stage, and I waited my turn. Before and after, it was a JT love in...he'd be taking selfies with his adoring fans. When I was facing the legend, he signed my CD, and I said I'd like to thank his people for getting us to see him....that it meant so much. I mentioned the fire, and he took my hand, looked at me and said he'd heard about it, and knows that it's tough. He wished us all the best at getting back on our feet. A simple act of kindness means so much. My sister, Mary....thank you for making this happen. And Mr. T, you're a treasure and a hope to many people. I'm glad you've stuck around. We can all learn something about love, humility, and kindness.
We are getting old. The end is much closer for me, the years behind are more numerous than those in the future. James has been a good friend to walk thru the decades with. Cheers.......
Thank you, Dash. Same for me. Fuuuuggg, I see these 2 and it's surreal to see our heroes age ... as we do too. And that moment at 2:03 ... Makes me weep for no damn good reason.
For those who don't know, Andy Sottile was their monitor engineer - the guy who controls the sound heard by the performers on stage. A monitor engineer often has to handle five or six different mixes so each performer can hear what they want to hear - and what they don't want. Also, performers are usually a lot pickier about hearing different ranges - lows, mids, or highs - at high volume without feedback. Andy was 67.
Sad for all who knew Andy Sottile, so hard to lose a close friend. I have listened to and LOVED James Taylor & Bonnie Raitt since I was in my teens... saw them in concert many times, the first time I was 17 in upstate NY at the Saratoga Performing Arts center.. I have seen them several more times at different places...the last time was in Chastain Park in GA. when I saw James, and also noticed Jimmy Carter & Roslyn in the audience! I am now 64 and still LOVING JAMES TAYLOR & BONNIE RAITT!!
I’ve heard this song so many times and never heard it with such sorrow and grief - they are so amazing to be able to perform this after the loss of their dear friend, my heart goes out to all who new and loved Andy - Thank you James and Bonnie🎶❤️
One of my favorite songs. His sister Kate had this on her 1st album in the 70s. The entire Taylor family is gifted! Thank you James, for sharing your many gifts! ❤️
I was lucky enough to be able to take my parents to see these two when they played in Knoxville. Something to cross off the bucket list for sure, such a beautiful memory.
Goodness, man! Is there an amazing female artist you HAVEN'T worked with?!?! 😉 Your music has always brought me a special kind of peace when I need it most. Thank you for that, friend. RIP, Andy.
OMG!!! Just came across this on RUclips tonight! What a beautiful rendition of a classic!!! JT and Bonnie Raitt!! Doesn't get much better than that!!! 💕
Beautiful duet tribute...I used the same song for my sister's funeral in 2011. We saw James in Saratoga in '81. It was late and we had to stay awake on the NY Thruway, so we sang this song.
What a pair. Its hard to lose someone you love and then go on with life esp a performance of some sort? I love this song too. A perfect closer to a JT show!
Saw you in Knoxville quite the tough experience sorry to say wheelchair ran out of battery just before down pour, and directed 3 times to wrong seats. Missed Arnold during shower the people. Wanted to see you one more time. Love you. You have been the music of my life. Thank you james.
James, in particular looks crushed and it is reflected in his singing voice. Was not Andy younger than the both of them? Rest in Paradise, Andy and may God keep your family and loved ones in His loving arms.
I saw them together twice and they closed with this song both times. So iconic. When I found out about the Fenway concert that started all this I was somewhat surprised me they were friends but then I remembered her thanking him at musicares for letting her open his shows when they were in their 20s.
Andy had a tough job, in every-changing venues across America. James was blessed to have him in his "family", and everyone that has been to one of JT's concerts benefited from the fine level of work Andy did each performance. He will be missed by all the knew him...
Lovely rendition. Interesting that neither of them were singing the melody that we've heard on so many earlier recordings of the song. It's as if they were both singing harmony to that melody. Creativity at work.
Bonnie and James I love you! God bless your. Purity! And harmonies! I'm from San Francisco! Deep-deep-deep lover music! Airplane dead Beatles! Especially this collaboration!
That moment when you can't hit the *LIKE BUTTON* quick enough!!!........and the °°°°KICKER°°°° is: *I haven't even pressed the *PLAY BUTTON* yet!!!!!!! {}{}{}{}why? Because these two people are *ETERNAL MUSIC LEGENDS!!!!!!!* I'm next *🎵> > > > ° ° ° ° * * * *🎵*

So ? Why are you getting old ..I get younger..
Thank you, Dash. Same for me. Fuuuuggg, I see these 2 and it's surreal to see our heroes age ... as we do too. And that moment at 2:03 ... Makes me weep for no damn good reason.
Cheers
❤️😢If he only wrote this one song it would be enough - lyrics are imprinted on my humble heart. Thank you Kind sir.
A wonderfully touching rendition of a true classic. How time passes... you blink your eyes and and it's all in the past. Treasure the time you have.
I think the one thing I will really miss when my time is done is the music. Every day I find new pearls of musical beauty.
"Dust in the wind ... "
Two of the finest musicians who ever lived. Bonnie cannot hide her deep admiration for James and this beautiful tune.

Thank you Brian! How thoughtful of you to let us know.
Thank you for the explanation and may his family and friends find peace and resolution 🕊
Thanks for letting us know that. The technicians and backstage people are often not regarded.
Thanks for that info, Brianin. It was a GREAT show, and a beautiful tribute to Andy. Sail on...……..

That harmony is the gift
One of my favorite songs. His sister Kate had this on her 1st album in the 70s. The entire Taylor family is gifted!
Thank you James, for sharing your many gifts! ❤️
Nothing sounds better than James playing an Olson guitar live! Great to hear the duet with Bonnie too!
Both James & Bonnie are as brilliant today as ever. Such a moving performance!

I close my eyes and think back over 40 years of James and Bonnie!
No, back then it was James and Carly Simon. She took over just recently.
Dee Anderson - This song was written for Joni Mitchell when he was in a relationship with her circa 1970/71.
@@deesplaylists6941 say what?? I think John meant James and Bonnie have EACH been performing over 40 years, not that they are a couple!
me 2
May Their Friend Andy Be Most Happiest In Paradise! ❤
Beautiful harmonies! 2 Legendary artists!!
Condolences JT
Beautiful tribute to a good friend
Thank you James Taylor & Bonnie Raitt! The show was wonderful and appreciate what you give to the fans who love you both.
My favourite J.Taylor song
ABSOLUTELY beautiful. You are my hero.
Ahhhh, James with Bonnie harmonies-thank you both. Sorry to hear about Andy Sottile
We are getting old, but we are better for it The lessons we're learned through pain, joy, and music.
This is a magic..my favorite JT song along with Bonnie Raitt, who went to the same small Quaker high school that I went to in upstate NY. Magic.
I'm sorry for your loss. You're brave and strong to be able to perform on such a day
Sorry for your loss James and whanau. Excellent piece to send him out to.
What a pair. Its hard to lose someone you love and then go on with life esp a performance of some sort? I love this song too. A perfect closer to a JT show!
Lethia Page it’s closed many. I saw them in July 2017 & June 2018 (after some fighting through it)- it ended both of those.
I adore this song 😍
Pure class
I was at this concert. You can only get a glimpse of the emotions here... they were intense in the concert hall.
James - Very nicely done. That was awesome...
RIP Andrew!
Saw you in Knoxville quite the tough experience sorry to say wheelchair ran out of battery just before down pour, and directed 3 times to wrong seats. Missed Arnold during shower the people. Wanted to see you one more time. Love you. You have been the music of my life. Thank you james.
More love and caring on that stage then I've seen in a long time.
James, in particular looks crushed and it is reflected in his singing voice. Was not Andy younger than the both of them? Rest in Paradise, Andy and may God keep your family and loved ones in His loving arms.
He is old but his voice is still gold..💕
Old doesn't mean you lose talent my friend.
What a fabulous and memorable concert this was! This last song was a very moving tribute. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Love to Andy!❤
Still have the chops! Thank you James and Bonnie ❤️
WE CLOSE OUE EYES ON EARTH, AND OPEN THEM IN HEAVEN !!
Bonnie is an immense talent......and a every underrated harmony singer.
definitely, and a few years ago she sung a duet with her father, their voices blended perfectly in harmony
I saw them together twice and they closed with this song both times. So iconic. Lovely rendition. Interesting that neither of them were singing the melody that we've heard on so many earlier recordings of the song. It's as if they were both singing harmony to that melody. Creativity at work.
Andrew Z James is singing the melody. The harmony Bonnie is singing may be different from other versions.
Thinking of you all! Beautiful tribute to Any Sottile.

He is pretty strong. I couldn't have made it through that song if I had just lost someone close to me.
