You guys need to react to the song “Hot Line” from the Sabbath album Born Again. This has Ian Gillan from Deep Purple on vocals. This is probably Sabbaths heaviest and dirtiest sounding album. It’s a good album.

I was in high school when this came out. It came out in the spring of 1980, and I was so PISSED that Ozzy wasn’t in the band anymore... I wanted to hate this album!! I remember their “new” singer Dio from Rainbow and couldn’t imagine him in Sabbath...
I’m a die hard Sabbath fan and this is one of their best albums!!! It STILL sends shivers in me when I listen to it..
Later, I remember right after school started in September of 1980, Ozzy released his “solo” album with, as I remember, the two guys from Uriah Heep, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake... and the rest is history. I thank God I grew up when I did...

@@AssMonkeyGaming , hey man. That's fair. A lot of it comes down to personal preference. But by any measurable vocal standards, Dio was a superior vocalist. Ozzy himself even admits that.
It's a shame that you don't like him. As a person, Dio is famous for being very kind and appreciative of the fans. Every single fan interaction that I have seen about Dio has been a good one. Admittedly, I never personally had a chance to meet him before his passing.
I know that from a popularity standpoint, more people like Ozzy than Dio. That's ok with me. I like Ozzy too. But Dio was just far more talented.

I think Dio gave Sabbath a broader musical range, I saw them live a number of times during his short stint and they were incredible, one night we hung out after a gig at Newcastle on a freezing cold winter night, after about an hour and a half there was about 12 idiots freezing their balls off outside the stage door, next the doors open Dio pops his head out and says "Come on in guys," we got to spend about an hour with him and Iommi, they were both very generous and I got Dio's signature on the inner lining of my motorbike jacket.

Ozzy rates right up there in the beginning of solo career with songs like diary of a madman and mr. Crowly. Songs he did with sabbath like meglamania and hand of doom show not only his skill as a vocalist but as a lyrisist. Very profound in his writing contradicting his over the top persona. I brought this album and Van Halen's Women and Children First home and put the Van Halen album on first, its the one with Everybody Wants Some. It was an OK album, the first Van Halen I had ever bought and it was just OK. I knew I was saving the best for last. I had cranked up the volume on my system for the first album, and maybe I turned it up Just a little for Black Sabbath. I had no idea what was about to happen. The first song on the album, Neon Knights came on and I jumped up because my walls were literally shaking and my speakers were about to explode as I quickly turned the volume back down. I'll never forget that, and if you've never heard Neon Knights before, do that, and try to remember the fool who had his volume all the up when that song almost blew his speakers.

Saw them on this tour. 1980, Black & Blue Tour, alternating headliners with Blue Oyster Cult. Sabbath headlined the night I saw them at Memorial Stadium in Seattle, in the shadow of the Space Needle. It was so loud, they forbade concerts in that stadium for years until they finally let Billy Joel play there in the early 90s. ha ha haaa That was my 2nd concert. Riot opened the show, followed by Molly Hatchet, then BOC, then the Sabbs. What an awesome day. I was 16, me and my parents were on vacay visiting family, and I was PO'd I was gonna miss BOC when they came through my town that summer. HA HA HAAAAA Had the awesome one-up on my hometown buds when I got back!! I still have the t-shirt I got at that show. It's threadbare as hell. Black with white 3/4 sleeves (like a good concert shirt should be), the front featured Satan and Godzilla battling it out with the words "HEAVY METAL ROCK" across the top. HELLS YEAH. The back pronounced the show "Summer Jam '80" and listed the bands and the two stops with dates this particular incarnation made: Salem, OR and Seattle, WA. Over time, somehow magically, the name Salem and the date faded, but the Seattle date remained.
Both times I saw them was in the Dio era. Never saw them with Ozzy, though did see Ozzy solo in '84. Motley Crue opened for the Ozzman.

I am 58 yrs old Love to see you young guys getting into this.I was 18 when sabbath booted Ozzy. We as guys were all disappointed. Then this Came out Holy shit ! Then the Ozzy Blizzard and on on and on . Do" Light in the black" Off Rainbow Rising. With Ronnie Dio It's awesome. Both Era's are very good but in different ways. In my humble opinion.

Dio Rocks! And personally I prefer Sabbath with him. At 50, I still listen to this album at least 3 times a week. “The Mob Rules” is another favorite. Both albums are worth deep reflection, and a lifetime of enjoyment.

HEY GUYS! How did I instinctively know the first word out of both of your mouths was gonna be, "DUDE?!" Pretty fuckin impressive little tune, huh? I can tell you both like the unexpected little Iommi surprises that happen during their songs. That is why you must hear SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE off of side A of SABOTAGE.

Hahahah, Ian Gillan hated that album so much he threw up when he heard it the first time, then threw his 25 advance copies out of a hotel window. The emotion you hear in some of the songs is "how the hell do I get outta here" no joke but funny nevertheless.

Will forever prefer the Ozzy years, especially the first six albums, but the Dio years were indeed epic in their own right. Great groove, voice - still had it all!!
HIGHLY recommend a couple 'later' Ozzy Sabbath tunes - first is 'Hole In The Sky' from Sabotage, second is 'Sabra Cadabra' from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Two incredibly rocking tracks!
LOVED this reaction - the whole Heaven & Hell album is fantastic.
