Thanks Shug, more great info. I wanted to share another cleaning solution with you. I discovered it when looking for something to remove adhesive residues etc at work. It’s also a citrus based cleaning solution so it’s safe. I found it works so much better & faster than Goof Off and the other similar products. The product is called De-Solv-It. They have recently come out with a “Contractor” version. I keep some at work & at home. Hope that helps you and your viewers! Love your channel!

I'VE GOT IT! We use disposable wipes, well, there needs to be disposable tree wraps. Easy to use. Saves your straps from sap, and they are biodegradable.
Especially saps on my car because you want it on a spot for a bit without running off like rubbing alcohol. Than I just wipe it off clean. Goop Off is a basically a dedicated commercial product.
All good ideas there Shug. I've also rubbed a little vegetable oil on my straps to clean up sap. It seems soften the tree sap and then I rinse with warm water. I always keep my straps in a baggie also........Take care, Bluefin.
I always have a travel size hand-sanitizer container that I've refilled with scentless, high alcohol content (90%) hand-sanitizer clipped on to my shoulder strap. It serves quadruple duty: - I use it for cleaning my hands (not a germophobe but I'll wash them if they've filtering mucky water and I want to eat something without a wrapper) - can use it for cleaning wounds - it's fantastic for getting sap off hands, and equipment (like tree straps) - it's a decent fire starter, taking the place of, or suplementing kindling (it does have some water content that steals some heat but it still works)
Ayy, a fellow Norris fan. Love the hat and the content. Just tested my first ever set up in BWCA this weekend and took a lot of learnings from ya. Thanks Shug

Whhooo buddy!! I use my alcohol stove fuel... Takes that sap right off and evaporates clean! I've used it on my silpoly tarp as well, just a little dab on a rag.
Bonus Sap Tip: If you're hanging around sappy trees, the sap makes an excellent fire starter, especially in the winter! Just scoop it out of the bubbles in the bark with a stick.
note that the instructions for goof off so you should clean it with soap and water... and that's a step you probably shouldn't skip considering goof off is a petroleum-based product and those are synthetic straps
I learned this from an old-time logger: if you get tree resin on your hands, and it won't wash off; try running your hands through your hair. The oil in your hair will coat the resin, and it won't be sticky. The resin will not stick to your hair. Your channel is entertaining and relaxing. I have enjoyed you for many years. Thanks for the great videos. Where is the Maple King?
One of them $30-35 steam cleaners from Walmart may workout well for sap to. Haven’t tried myself. But I do use it for some other stuff. Maybe spray it some with the steam get it soft. Wipe it with a rag. Hit it again with the steam wipe a repeat. An anything left deep in he’ll rub some corn starch on it. But I’m sure some good steam can melt that old sap from better the fibers Like he said rubbing alcohol. Goof-off Another an I’m not sure if goof off contains any. But N-Heptane also. I’m sure not many just has that on hand. But in my search of sticker glue removers led me to that. Can be head online. But found the heptane will loosen/remove some glues that alcohol wouldn’t do much for. Also evaporates and don’t really leave anything behind like the goof-off would. But ild be willing to bet. One of them cheap hand held steamer spray cleaning things from Walmart would melt sap right off. If I had something with some sap on it ild have to report back. The trait of being meticulous about matters of taste or style
