I can picture them going over the battlefield after it was all over and picking up equipment off the fallen. "Look mum, body armour.... I'm gonna get promoted to Principes for sure now !"

@@samym1694 Im focusing on this time frame in Historical Warfare at the moment, but gradually will be going up the centuries as time progresses, Im already looking at describing the various different legionary types and how they looked depending on where they were in the world during the early Empire, as well as the various imitation legions, plus Ancient Greeks own experimentation with more flexible units, Hemithorax, Thurospears, e.c.t
He misspronounces a couple of things. I'm guessing he does it for the same reason map makers create places that don't exist on their maps. It's a trap for people who steal a creators content & reproduce it.
Me and Alex are from the southwest of England. Usually we talk with quite heavy emphasis on Rs even when there ain't any. That being said in comparison to most somerset/Wiltshire people we actually don't have that strong of an accent unless we are speaking to others in our local regions :)

Lol, thats how Carthage re-armed itself during Hannibals invasion of Italy!
Good timing. I was just arguing with someone over roman legionaires and noticed there was almost nothing on the wikipedia page for the rorarii
Before listening to this I never thought much about the make up of the Roman legions. This was an eye opener! Many Thanks!
No problem!

Haha, Both me and Alex pronounce it Roar-ee-aye, might be a South England thing. And haha yup!
I've heard about it as a Pre-Marian unit from Rome 2: Total War
So when can you talk about the "Evocati" that still serves in the legion?
I might actually actually a video on the evocati tbf something I hadn't thought about!
@@AncientHistoryGuy also how about the Hellenised armies of Egypt after Alexander or Pontic Legionary imitations?

I was thinking the same! Before this I was confused as Wikpedia says they were skirmishers
So Velites upfront, then Hastati, Principes and Triarii, THEN Rorarii?
Equites on the wings.
And then more skirmishers in the back to fill in any holes :)
Accenssi?
Seems more Like the velites are the Combination of the whole light infantry Part
It boggles my mind that you don’t have more subscribers
Thankyou! We have been steadily growing this year!
how about roman accensi next-slingers/light infantry
Scripts are written!
What about the Comitatensis and the Limitanei Ripensis?
interesting, never heard of them
Thankyou! and now you have!
Why do you pronounce echelons with a hard ch resembling a k?
