    Was going to make that today was my plan also craving pickle fish ...... ( but with hake ) only to discover I did not have vinegar. Not going to shops so we will have fried fish instead. Lol

    I make mine with swordfish! Don’t like snoek. Hake also works.

      I prefer hake for pickled fish. Although most people prefer snoek

    A good fish for pickling is the gurnard.
    Edit: it's a nice sturdy fish & really holds up nicely. Especially if you don't want as many bones.

      Barracuda or mackeral is a great substitute in the US.
