Yeah if you have poor infrastructure prior to selling a bunch of these, some people have to do that (which is bonkers). The likelihood of that being en masse is highly unlikely. Countries with less strict safety regulations will get away with it for a time.
@@DIYtryer there’s no EV that can reach that range currently. It’s more modest with like 500-600 miles. Solid state with higher density might be able to attain that but that’s not for a long while. 1000 Mile EVs were a topic for a brief time until people understood it wasn’t doable with our current technology. The goal has always been to obviously get higher range with less battery size at a higher density. Lithium Ion has a lot of limitations mainly heat and thermal management being primary concern.

If we avoid going electric and fail to compete, we’ll become the Blockbuster to China’s Netflix. Chinese EVs are already cheaper, more reliable than ICE cars, and are being adopted globally at a rate that should concern us. Compete now, or in 10 years, say goodbye to our automakers-we won’t be able to catch up technologically. Americans, as they did with Japanese cars, will choose the affordable, reliable option. Let’s do what we do best: compete, innovate, and move forward. Stopping innovation would be a death sentence for one of our biggest industries. From 2016-2021, China made massive strides and due to trump era lax regulation, US makers got complacent and didn’t innovate faster; we don’t have the luxury of waiting anymore
People in China eat plastic rice I don't think we need to follow everything they do.
@ Maybe that’s where we differ. As an American, it’s highly concerning to me that they have dominated many consumer products we once led in. Our auto industry is already on the chopping block-this isn’t hypothetical anymore.
The consumers can't afford EV vehicles with the subsidies. How are the car makers and the government expecting consumers to afford a traditional ICE vehicle knowing how ridiculously expensive they are?

I bought mine because after doing careful and thorough research I knew that electric vehicle ownership would be a far superior experience when compared to the outdated old fashioned gasoline vehicle experience. After nearly two years of owning and operating my electric vehicle I find my research was spot on. Charging at home, extremely low maintenance, efficiency, smooth and quiet ride and quicker than any gasoline vehicle I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned many. I don’t think it’s needed to force people into electric vehicles, they will eventually realize that they’ve been bamboozled into believing these cars are not viable for everyone. They actually are. Elon Musk is the wealthiest man in the world because of this fact. And if politics had never been hindering EV adoption there would be so many more on the roads than the millions there are now. California did not have blackouts because of EVs. Last blackout was 2019, affected 900k. Calif pop is 47 mill.
These are facts. In fact, the total load put on the power grid from EV's is roughly only 1% of the total load.

@@rudy_6776 studies show that air conditioning units running in the summer is the main cause of the blackouts. Not EV's charging.
@@FLASHitude yes, but you are going to add a greater load with unreasonable mandates, without improving our grid.
@rudy_6776 of course, but the studies show it's an insignificant amount compared to ac units running in homes. Car insurance should not be a mandate. Pay at the pump, add 5 or 10 cent a gallon for car insurance.
Make them self-charging, and they'll be an instant hit. How is it that decades ago, we invented a bicycle with a dynamo generating electricity for its light, yet we can't create a self-charging car even after all these years?
There's not enough energy to self charge. Unless they come out with Flintstone cars that's not a thing.
An actually useful mandate would be making cars more dependable. Nothing is cleaner than getting the life out of a car that normally takes three cars. That's many tons less of pollution because those cars were never manufactured. We could do it by vehicle registrations. If a certain percentage of a certain model is no longer being registered after 10 years, the manufacturer could be penalized. If a certain percentage are still being registered after 20, the maker could be rewarded.
