This is one of the best and more objective review of Kontak 7 I’ve seen. I also realize myself some of the differences in Kontak 6 vs Kontakt 7, that match yours, so I decided not to delete my Factory Library 1. And yes, I completely agree on the downgrade of Orchestral instruments. I would rather keep using FL1 instead. Besides that, I’ve found a few bugs in the instruments, specially in Orchestral, (drop down menus issues) that I asked to NI support for help. I hope they found a solution or release a fix soon. thanks Carl. Some new instruments are released as compatible only with Kontakt 7, so sooner or later upgrading Kontakt (may directly to 8) will be "mandatory". We'll see and keep you informed.

I was going to throw the old library away to spare some space but I wanted to check if everything was kept in the new library and thanks to your video I now know that it was a good decision to keep the old library because I was guessing, by the look of the new Kontakt seven, that it would be a bad idea to throw Kontakt six away or any old libraries. Various companies make new products that turn out to be a downgrade in quality and options. I don't know what these people have in mind but is not our best interest.
hi Izidoro, happy to have been useful. The editing of sounds should be re-introduced but about the removed instruments... I don't think they will easily be re-added

Great review. I very nearly bought v7 today but you've made me think twice.
I really want the resizable interface, and the MIDI drag and drop would be useful. Some of the new stuff sounds good as well. I'm kind of shocked though that those Orchestral samples made it through NI quality control. That and the wet-only sounds and the lack of editability.
I just checked out the changelog, and even on v7.5 now it doesn't look as if these issues have been addressed. The £90 upgrade price isn't bad all things considered, compared to what I've sometimes paid for a single effect or instrument plugin. I'm very glad that I watched your review before buying though, it was an excellent insight into what I'd actually be getting.
Thanks Niki Rose; the editability should be addressed sooner or later when the new internal graphic engine is stable, regarding to quality control of Orchestral Tools samples I am not optimistic, but when editability will be available, a self-polishing might be an option

I have an additional problem using Kontakt libraries with EWI (wind instruments): there is no way to regulate dynamics, and volume jumps from zero to max. Some instruments have nice dynamics, if I blow lightly, the sound is low, and some have shapes to regulate attack. But in many cases it is zero or max loudness. Unusable.
Hi, I am sorry... I can only suggest to write to NI for this problem, in every 7.x version many bugs are solved so maybe they might look at it...

I got Komplete 14 Standard (its my first Bundle)
For some reason I can only access over Kontakt 7 these sounds over the presets. I can't see the libary in Kontakt 7, like all the other ones. The samething in the "old" Kontakt or in Komplete Control. Do you know this issue?
Sorry, I don't clearly understand the issue you mention, when you purchase Kontakt, both Kontakt 7 and Factory Library 2 appears in Native Access, in Komplete Kontrol and the Library in Kontakt 7, using latest versions of all these programs..
@@lightpoint-english Yes thats the nornal way. But for some reason I can't see those two libarys in Kontakt 7. I have to click on Kontakt and then scroll the presets. Otherwise I don't have a chance to use them. I see all the other Libarys I downloaded over Nativd access. Only those two factory libarys doesn't appear in Kontakt 7 /Komplete Control

Just paid upgrade from player to full and have been through 3 days of hell. Should have been so simple. No customer support from these guys, either. Should have stuck with the free. Looking forward to watching your video but I'm going to hold off till it's actually working.
Hi, for installation issue you can try to search and/or write on the NI forum (if not done already) and usually some other guy may have had the same problem or provide a possible solution, it's a pity not to use it since you bought it

how to get Orchestral sample on Factory Selection 2 ?
hi, I don't know if I have understood your question, Factory Selection is a limited library (since it is free) with respect to the standard/full Factory Library in all versions, so you will not find all the instruments that are included in the standard/full version. Hope to have answered in some way

@@lightpoint-english Oh it's just your accent. I liked it at first but after a while all the E's at the end of every second word do get a little annoying, that's 100% on me tho and not much you can do about it as an Italian I guess so don't pay me no mind :)
