Great, chill, honest, complete, balanced review. I'm tired of jaded reviewers who drive a lot of cars, reviewing them from that perspective. Anyone who is considering buying that car is very familiar with whatever they're driving now and maybe they remember what they owned previously, so they're not nearly as jaded or picky as many reviewers. "I drove a tesla last week and the acceleration blew the Bolt away". Ok, that's nice but it has no relevance to someone who did not drive or own a tesla last week.
This review is from the POV of a thoughtful, intelligent person who took the time to learn about the car, then drove it and gave honest, reasonable feedback and commentary. Which is what any of us considering buying one needs.
I was really excited to see this review. I love that one day Topher will throw up a super car I can only dream of and the next he’s driving a sweet little electric econo car. Love it.
My first Chevrolet EV car! Brilliant job bro.
I absolutely enjoyed this ride-along. I put on some headphones in front of some 24-inch dual screen monitors. This was just enjoyable. Thanks for this review. It was worth watching.
As a delivery driver I currently spend 166 bi weekly on a car and around 700-800 a month on gas.
Even with the increased sticker price of an EV like this, I would be saving hundreds a month on refueling.
Just what I was waiting for, thank you!
I know it's just cosmetic and offers no performance, but I love Chevy's Redline editions.
I had a 2018 Malibu Redline and I loved it. I definitely miss the wheels
Same. Really nice aesthetic the Redline (looked good on the Camaro as well).
This doesn’t seem too bad considering it’s gm econo car. I asked an owner of a chevy equinox why she bought it and she pretty much said she wanted a car and that’s what they had lol
They aren't bad for the price now.
@@Toymonkeyjr Nah they’re awful values no offense
@@mustasheolll2020you gotta look at dealer discounts, the premier trim Equinox we’re going for 27k pre Covid. Yes they’re not good cars but you can see how people went for them over competition due to the price difference
@@davewilson7602 The bolt is good, I’m talking about their other cars like the equinox traverse etc
@@davewilson7602 Bolt EV not EUV
Great video we love our bolt 40k trouble free miles and really fun and fast comfortable and easy to drive
I own a 2022 launch edition bolt euv and as far as dc charging and road trips go, for me it works. By the time I get the car plugged in and start to charge I walk across the parking lot to go into walmart to use the restroom and grab something drink and a snack and come back 40 plus minutes have gone by and the car is almost done.
Yeah that’s definitely a lie. It only pulls 50kwh which means it takes forever to charge.
@@Ezvy I know for a fact that at 15% to 80% only takes 45 to 50 minutes and apparently you can't do math the bolt only has a 65 kw battery you don't dc fast charge to 100%
@@ryansherman4556 I have one myself. It definitely does not go from 15% to 80 in 45 minutes. Stop lying to yourself and everyone else lol. And yes you can fast charge to 100%. It just slows down after 80% on purpose so you give others a chance to charge
@@Ezvy you are full of it. I own a bolt. Get over yourself. It slows down cause you’re at the top of your battery. All electric vehicles do it. That’s why you don’t charge past 80% at dc charger. You do at home or on a public lvl 2 to get to 100%
@@ryansherman4556 nope. It definitely slows down because you have been sitting there for so long already hogging up the charges that if you wait to get from 80 to 100 it’ll be around the same time that it takes to get from 40 to 80. I only charge at dc fast station so I know a thing or two about a thing or two. So go off and act like you know more :)
I wonder if the ride quality is slightly better in the EUV vs the EV due to the increased wheelbase in the EUV.
I have an EUV with super cruise and it works great. I had the same problem with it not working when I first got it. I think the car needs a little time to download maps after you set up your OnStar account. I have only had it a week but I have found the regular adaptive cruise control the most useful feature. My commute involves a lot of 4 lane roads with a median down the middle that are no highways and it is excellent for those driving conditions. It brings the car to a stop behind other cars at lights and then I just have to tap the gas to get moving again.
Does the mirror have the camera rear view as the Bolt EV got?
Why is the chime diff?
on supercruise, are those blinking red lights visable to you, or is that IR spectrum that the camera is picking up?
I just purchased this same car with a white exterior...love it! :-)
did this trim have the camera rear view mirror?
Hi what camera did you use for this POV recording
How’s the motor still going in this car? You have a lead foot on acceleration so I’m wondering if the motor has lost magnetism yet?
this is really a kick ass car. I wish they would have chosen even SLIGHTLY faster charging components. Peak 50 is brutal. Despite that, if you're just doing the daily commute stuff or just weekend warrior chores, i can't see this being beaten for value
Yep, its perfect for all that. 11k and going
I have an EUV Premier and I agree that it would have been better to have faster DC fast charging. It wouldn’t make sense to get this car for long trips. In its defense, it is a very efficient car so you add more real world miles per minute than you would at 50 kW in other EVs. It also has 11 kW AC charging which is pretty fast so it can technically charge at home from 0-100 in 7 hours. All of those specs are kind of pointless in the real world though. My wife has a 60 mile round trip commute and we drive ourselves and our kids all over the place in it and I don’t think we have ever taken the battery below 50% so even with a slower charger (I have a 3.5 kW charger), it is always able to get fully charged overnight. Even in the Atlanta area where we live, 240 miles is a lot of range.
Some other videos say it does change lanes. Or maybe I heard wrong ?
Tried to order one, line was too long and they didn’t let me order, they have half a year old order still not accepted. i’m in canada.
Has anyone had to replace the 2023 EUV battery? My 2023 EUV needed a battery replacement within the first week and I am afraid now I got a lemon
Thanks for this review of something affordable and eco friendly. I have a 2017 Bolt EV and it was the best car buying decision I made. When I financed in 2017, with A+ credit rating, I got a 0% interest deal and the total cost was 34k. After 6 years of ownership, the only maintenance costs have been several tire changes and a small battery at 70,000 miles. Gasoline savings is well over 4,000$ with the daily driving I do. Highly recommend
Do you have a gasoline car as well? I'm thinking about getting one sometime down the road but I'm not too sure about trading in my gas car to get an electric as I'd like to have a gas car for backup
@@ronnieperez8519 backup in case of what?
@@RaghavPrakash in case I want to take a road trip anywhere, or maybe I have to get the batteries replaced and I'm stuck without a car
@@ronnieperez8519 getting the batteries replaced seems like a very unlikely scenario. in that case, the warranty should cover a rental probably. ev infrastructure is getting very good where a road trip is very much possible in many evs.
@@RaghavPrakash with this car it would add hours. As long as you're OK with that, awesome. This has the slowest charge rate of any newer EV by a decent amount. Again, it's just setting expectations. This is not a great road roadtripper when most folks just "want to get there."
All my life I've told myself, never will I ever own a GM car..... Looking at this thing...hmmmm... Makes me reconsider!!
Excellent review. Thank you very much. I'm sold on it and with the IRS and State of Michigan POS incentives in 2024 - cost will be affordable for me. I already have a 4-50 240v 50amp plug in my garage for a welder - so charging will be no issue. Might use the incentives ($500.00) for a home charger for my daughter's home 155 miles away. Thanks again!!
Very good review. I test drive audi q4. Failed my expectation for the price
Loving this car. Its a very familiar car where things are suppose to be at. I look forward to the Ultium battery for this model. Shoot, throw a solar panel on the roof too!
Great car! 👍
i need a cadillac lyric bruh
Wish the dimensions were slightly wider. Maybe 4 inches.
This video was really cozy for some reason.
my old Nissan Leaf has way more trunk room. Wish I had that range though.
How close is the near setting when using SuperCruise? I have a Lexus and the auto cruise even set at lowest leaves way too large a gap.
Stay back, avoid accidents. You've seen the multi-car collisions on the news, where 40 or 50 vehicles pile up. This could all be avoided if these foolish drivers would increase the gap between vehicles. Don't worry about people sliding in front of you . . . . so what. You'll get to your destination and they are destined to crash sooner or later.
@@andrewhansen4179 250’ is to much
We still paid over 2k for supercruise it should be the same on all models, so many other ev have lane change , other than that have 300 miles and road trip planned soon
If only it was actually a real Redline performance trim like what Saturn used to offer.
Hey man! Wondering what kinda camera are you using. Really interested in making content like yours!

@@TheTopher do you notice much video quality improvement with the new hero 11?
Nice video. I am in CA. My 23 Bolt EV L2 will be delivered in two weeks and I am also thinking about getting a 23 EUV Premier with the sunroof and super cruise (to take advantage of the $7,500 tax break) or the new Equinox EV with super fast charging for long distance traveling. Seems like super cruise is good but I am not sure how well it will function in CA's traffic jam during commute hours. Thank you and stay healthy.
Robert: I leased Bolt EV Premier on Jan 7, 2017 and another on Jan 5, 2020 and I just bought a 2023 EUV Premier with Sun & Sound and Super Cruise in Radiant Red. Used Super Cruise in CA traffic from Monterey Park to Fountain Valley (Fwys: 60, 710, 5, 605, 405). Worked well but Super Cruise warned me that 405 has construction. It worked in the construction zone but lines are too crazy so I took over. I like just about everything better in the 2023 EUV but still getting used to the new Infotainment system layout and other controls. I actually liked the old transmission shifter than the new buttons and I miss that the Infotainment system doesn't have a Camera icon available all the time like my 2020 did (2017 didn't have it either). Enjoy your 23 Bolt EV L2! And I'm sure you'll enjoy the 23 Bolt EUV Premier if you decide to get that too.
@@mikekimura2532 Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, the infamous 405. It once took me three hours to drive from Irvine to LA. I didn't heed the advice to leave early. I left after 4 PM. LOL. I already have the VIN number of the new car and I cannot wait to see if the seats are more supportive than the ones in 17-21. I hope the 23's Bose system will have more bass than my 21 Premier's Bose system. Best Regards,
@@robertlee7332When I was dating my wife I was working near LAX and she was working in Riverside. Driving to Riverside after work was a nightmare! Seats are way better than my 2017 and 2022 and of course Driver's seat is Powered now. 23 Bose subwoofer seemed better than my 20 but my 20 had stuff in the back on top of the subwoofer and of course driving home from the dealership the back is totally empty.
Is the adaptive cruise control capable of coming to a complete stop and resume cruising speed?
@@michaelnavarro8786 That is a good question. I honestly don't know the answer.
Dcfc 55/56 kW. Lvl2 at up to 11.5 kW
We have the exact same model really loving it but the charge time not so much. Charging at level 1 in the 12 amp mode things improve but we are getting the outlet for level 2 charging paid for by GM. Charged at a fast DC Charger which took 60 minutes to get 80% or 175 miles. Great car though using it for commuting and local stuff.
this was what i want to see, a dam ev!!!!
I like it. Wish the cost a wee bit less.
Saludos 🖖🏻
It's not the horse power that is important, it's the torque. One gear no shifting instant torque can really move. I have the reg bolt and in sport mode you can give cara a run for the money off the start...
Hmmmm I thought the new update let us change lanes now
Features are limited on the Bolt.
New gm chime? Very loud too btw
Yup the old one is 10x better
This chime was 10 years old actually😂😂😂

2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Premier Redline Edition!
With this price, I see no good reason to go for short range model 3/y
Love this car. Best EV on the market because of the features you can get and the price point. Many people travel in this car. You just have to like taking your time and enjoying what's out there. Great Vid.
When the new bolt comes out if they can get the price down to close to 20k with the tax credit it will do really well
Is this better than the Tesla Model 3?
On price and back seat legroom, yes. On tech, charging speed and performance, no.
I hate that new startup chime
Although it is an eco car but quite inefficient compared to smallcar with tiny gasoline engine like fiesta ecoboost. With only 1 liter displacement but so powerful and practical refueling. The ev car's main problem is it take long time to recharge.
What an awesome car, too bad we don't get it in Europe
I thought there was an Opel version, but that may have just been the Volt (not the Bolt).
@@wesleywalls7582 You're right, the Volt was the Opel AmperaE and the Bolt was labeled as the Opel Ampera. But we only had the first generations. Both cars were selling badly all over Europe and now we obviously don't got the follow up cars. Not wondering too much, because so many people here just want to buy that crappy Volkswagen und Skokda stuff.
Corolla Cross hybrid please
If you can't road trip in a car that goes 250 miles, your driving too far in one day. lol
if only it had 150 kw charging
the achilles heel, for sure. Make it a car you'd really never want to road trip with. This is more a daily commuter and weekend warrior. As long as you're plugging in at home and your commute is reasonable, this is such a great offering.
Plenty of people road trip in this car you just have to not be in a hurry and enjoy actual traveling and not just trying to get to a place as fast as possible. Great car just not for everyone.
Yeat
Redline come with the appropriate fire extinguisher?
Tesla model 3 base is a better buy right now… the bolt charges like a snail 🐌
I sell these for a living lol
I love supercruise. it works 10% of the time. and if i move the right lane, it disengages.
So it definitely helps keep my wallet from getting too fat with the 2000 cost and monthly fees.
Chevy logo is really ugly, slightly less in black. They should black or silver it all over their lineup. The gold looks so tacky
It looks bumpy.
My friend has this car but I would not say it’s very good
Depends. I think it's quite expensive especially when the Ioniq 5 exists.
The base Bolt seems like a great deal for a daily commuter however.
Why is it not very good?
@@lanceluna9781 Idk know if it’s only his car but the steering wheel starts vibrating after it crosses 60kph and there’s also a lot of blind spots
@@abdullahm982 that not because its a chevy bot euv.... thats because it needs its wheels balanced lol
@@charlesreed8420 they are balanced
So many things can go wrong with all those electronics.
Imagine having to wait hours for your battery to charge instead of filling your vehicle with liquid hydrocarbons in 3 minutes and being on your way. Also, E vehicles aren't green in any way when you consider the amount of lithium that had to be mined and refined for the batteries.
First👍🏻
Nope
The Bolt suffers from a boring design and a less than reliable track record. No offense but for 38k im buying myself an Integra
Integra cost 38k?! Just get a civic and save that 14k. MY bolt euv LT redline after a year ownership with incentives and federal applied WILL BE UNDER 10K. WINNING!!!
throw in $7500 tax credit and you can't go wrong
⚡️ 🚗 = 😴
NO THANKS!!!...Ill just put gas in my truck....and drive it MYSELF!!lmfao!!!!
Those flashing lights on the steering wheel are really annoying.
Those are only visible through a camera as they’re infrared - pretty sure all the human eye sees is the green bar
The only problem is that Chevy's are super unreliable and it will probably break down within 2-3 years and be super expensive to fix.
The previous Bolts and Volts have been pretty reliable, from what I've heard. GM overengineered the powertrain, so all you have to worry about is the interior.
So the Bolt and Leaf have been by far the most reliable EVs on the market.
these have been known to be pretty darn reliable, actually.
Still dont understand why they make EV front wheel drive, thats so stupid.
That thign is so ugly and samll. They need to bring back the Volt with an interior redesign as a full EV.
Chevrolet Bolt is my dream car but I don't have money and I can't buy it😢
I can smell lots of cheap plastic...
It’s an econo car what do you expect
