Biden has been good for Ukraine and that's where your loyalty rightfully is. Unfortunately he's been terrible for the US. We're dealing with mass inflation, poor economic growth, an out of control housing market etc. It's tough because while we support Ukraine, we also need to look out for America.

As a slovak citzen I'm not a Fico voter, but I also didn't wish Fico anything like this. To be correct he stopped only supplies from slovak military stocks, but didn't stop the comertial sell of military equipment. It is not fair to say he stopped everything. Yes he said he wants "peace" meaning legalising russian occupaton, but he did it for his domestic audience. He's a populist and know how to gain political points. In european parlament he agreed everything you need. What is strange about the assasin, it is a 71year old poet condeming violence. He said something like "Fico is destroing our country so I wanted to act". Also he is a pensioner so Fico didn't expect anything like this. His voters are mostly older pensioners. As for now he's stabilized, so hopefully he'll recover. I hope things will get better Slovakia, and nothing like this will happen again. Political opposition condemned this action.

Ukraine just announced legislation that REMOVES 18 year old men's rights to public health-care, public transport, and frozen their bank accounts unless they enlist at a local conscription office. This is all THIS WEEK, what congratulations are you talking about!?!?

They get the job to build something, take a huge part of the money, and use the rest for working. Meanwhile they report delays, because of weather, like mud season, and enemies.
Then the money runs out, the job is just half way done, they blame the weather or the enemies and ask for more money. That takes time, until they get it, because of bureaucracy. In the meantime, the construction stands still.
I think, they used this method also in this case. They, most likely, didn't expect an attack, and thought, it's low risk to steal money like that.

3500 nuclear weapons were transferred to Russia from Ukrainian territory in 1991. I think that was a mistake.
1994-5. and it WAS a huge mistake! Trusting the US to defend Ukraine in the event of an attack -- that was a blunder of the first magnitude. Bill Clinton signed the Budapest Memorandum, but then his own wife abandoned Ukraine when Putler seized Crimea and half of Donbas in 2014.

I love the way he says that Russia lost another of their “ear defense systems”. Maybe that’s why it’s so difficult to deal with Russia, they just can’t listen! It’s difficult to learn a new language late in life, especially as different as English and Ukrainian. But that’s not stopping Denys for providing us with updates every day! I agree, this with the defense lines looks like corruption:
The person, who got the job, got the money. It seems like, he took a huge portion of it, so he couldn't pay the workers. I can imagine, he asked for more money, to take more and finish the job, but didn't get it in time.
That's one of the methods this corrupt people use: Saying, because of the weather or enemies, there are delays and higher costs. I can imagine, something simular happened near Kharkiv, because they clearly started to build the defense lines in time, but they didn't finish it.
I hope, the guy in charge gets caught and harshly punished, and they make an example out of this case, because something like that can cost so many lives. Shame on the corrupt person, who didn't finish the defense lines!
Because of all this, pay contractors _after_ the job is finished, not before. That's the usual procedure where I work.

The attack didn't come from anyone on the pro-Ukraine side of those issues, but rather from a rabid ruzzist radical.
The peaceful transfer of power is a corner stone of democracy and must be upheld.
As long as it’s democracy, which requires not just votes, but a free and fair voting system. A lot of countries have the issue that the elite tries to dispose of the free and fair part, and just keeps made up votes (see the country of Georgia right now for reference).
But yes, one advantage of true democracy is that we move away from violence to a more civilized political system.
fico doesn't have a majority, 24% out of 60% of eligible voters is not what I would call a majority (that's like 15% of eligible voters)

Looks like the Fico shooter was a 71 year old man. In the States, where shootings happen daily, usually the first thing to consider is an untreated mental illness. Not that mental illness makes someone dangerous, but a severe issue with schizophrenia or similar symptoms could make him think outside of reality. We will see. With 71 it could also be dementia as some forms of dementia can lead to violence (out media is really quite selective in depicting dementia).
