I thought of another tip I want to pass along to newbies: You'll feel better about all the work if you see the process as a chance to improve yourself. I had no idea what a miserable impression I made until I started recording myself on video. You would not have guessed from those early attempts that I am, in fact, an adult with substantial education. Recording myself on video is one of the best things I've ever done.
I didn't know anything of this video until I saw it now! Thank you for all these spectacular tips, Nick! My tips are upload schedule, longer video and interesting content.
Put some time into it. If it's not ready, if you're not convinced that it's a good piece of content, don't put it out. Accept that there will be a few things that you'll realize you could have done better before publishing, but it's ok. The viewer may or may not catch these flaws.
On the topic of messing up what you say, it's so true...if you're new, don't be discouraged at all because I've made 120 videos and I still feel like I can't speak at all some days that I sit down to record. You got this 💛
Oh god, I can totally relate to this!!! Whenever I record my audio, I always feel like everything I say is somehow incorrect or poorly worded hahaha...still, I keep plugging away!
I look at other people in my niche, sort their videos by most popular, and make a huge list of the top (100K+ views) videos. I then analyze the list for similarities. i also just do keyword research when I'm not busy, playing around with different titles and phrases on video idea I'm contemplating until I get 80/100 or higher. I feel like all of this active research does help my channel. I made it to 1000 subs in 6 months by strategizing often and not just making random content!
Definitely agree, consistently is important, but good interesting videos is more important I feel. Rather take a few more days to make a great video than a good one.
My channel is still small and my friends are joking over it, but idc imma stick to my schedule and try to make every new video a better one than the last one. Good luck to everyone out here!
My channel will likely always be small. I just wanted to give my point of view about my fave tv character and tell about her. So It's not a channel where I can put out stuff for years and decades like Nick Nimmin here. I don't mind. Do what you want. Who cares what those frenemies of yours think. Do what makes you and your audience happy.
When you dropped down to the bottom right corner to nail home the proper framing concept. That was gold lol A very easy adjustment that makes a BIG difference though 💪🏾

I see your videos regularly and they have really helped me🙂 My suggestion is to ride the wave. If one of the videos on a topic gets very high views then we should make more content on it. It really helps😄
I wish this was posted back when I got started! Just saying that all those extra takes are normal--that alone will help a lot of beginners. My tip: Do what Nick says. Arrange media in folders for each project. This will not only help the editing process go smoothly, it will force you to be professional about the work.
Tell me about it. I tend to have all my files messed up in my project folder. Sometimes I just go nuts trying to find something to add on the timeline! Haha
That search bar auto fill really does the trick! It can take a long time to find a topic that is popular but hasn't been overdone, but when you do, make that video right away!
Thank you so much for this video, Nick! I found this very helpful. Recently, I revived a secondary RUclips channel based around the topic of hypnosis, and I began screen recording a bunch of different hypnosis recordings I had created on another website, so I could share them here on RUclips. (This took place about a week and a half ago). The next morning, I woke up to my videos getting views, which really surprised me. As of right now, on the 2nd channel, I have 12 subscribers and counting. I'll try to implement some of your tips into growing my main channel too, as I have a lot of video ideas I want to get out there. Also, I just want to say, when you added in the bit where you talked about editing out all the "ums" and "Ahs" in video recordings, the skit made me giggle, so thanks for the laughs xD It made the video all the more entertaining!
Love these tips Nick - thanks. I just got started and I’m trying to build some momentum with consistency and getting more comfortable in front of the camera. I’ve spent much of my life behind it. These will help me a lot with just optimizing and getting better.
Thank you, Nick! 🙏 I've seen a big improvement in the quality of my content by following your tips and as a consequence, I've been getting more views. As someone that was camera shy, your tips were of great help to me. My videos seem more natural now and gave me the confidence I needed to start posting more regularly. Also, the power of editing is truly amazing!

Definitely think I’m going to try to just review products for awhile because those definitely do a lot more for me then the last few I made testing out and showing theories I had. At least till I get bit more traction. Though I just have a lot more work to do in general.
Some great advice here, as always! I'd love some advice on how to film yourself if you wear glasses, to try and avoid glare, etc - it looks like you've nailed the art! 🤓
Its a combination of soft lighting and angles. Diffuse all the harsh light by using a soft-box or bouncing the light. Experiment with the angles the light is coming at you in comparison to your camera. Dedicate some time to dialling that all on to minimise glare. Each set-up is unique, so a lot of trial and error comes into play.
Would love to see a behind the scenes video of you making one of your videos. Showing how you set-up, the process of your process, recording B rolls and rolling it all up into a finished content and ummm, uh, you uh know, ummm, yeeeeah we need the TPS reports as well

If you're not taking notes on this video, you're one step behind the process. This is probably the best start-up video for RUclipsrs and the process fits almost everywhere else, too.
If the value you bring your audience in streams is similar to what you do in videos it should be fine. If you change it up you might find that live streams don't do as well.
💖Thank you for a video on how to form a video that will help make a video go forward . I wish I had some tips but you basically covered literally everything people pick up on. The best one for me that you said was like adding personal touches to the video. I would see so many guys and gals with their beds in the image or piles of junk in their rooms I mean all have to start some where ..but that is not appealing.
Nice video Nick. Thanks! Camtasia is definitely very good, but I think it is little expensive for beginners like me and I could still not buy it. Does Camtasia has B-rolls which I can use in my science videos?
There are plenty of places online to source b roll - most software doesn't come with a lot of stock footage, but some will link out to a repository or stock footage subscription service.
I think one of the most awkward parts of making videos where I'm talking on camera is to make sure I look at the lens and pretend it's the viewer. That's the hard part for me because there's no face with no eyes looking back at me, lol. When I do straight up gaming videos with no face cam I feel more at home. That's not a good thing. I realize I need to be proficient with both styles. Thanks Nick for the great videos.

My niche is kind of vague but I have a defined “feel” I’m going for. I don’t know, sometimes I feel like I’m kidding myself. I wish I was better at getting videos up consistently and frequently, but it just doesn’t work out sometimes.

There are plenty of places online to source b roll - most software doesn't come with a lot of stock footage, but some will link out to a repository or stock footage subscription service.
Great video Nick : ) Thanks for sharing 💕👍 I take lots of notes, Research and my own experience : )
👊 ✋
I think one of the most awkward parts of making videos where I'm talking on camera is to make sure I look at the lens and pretend it's the viewer.
That's the hard part for me because there's no face with no eyes looking back at me, lol.
When I do straight up gaming videos with no face cam I feel more at home.
That's not a good thing. I realize I need to be proficient with both styles.
Thanks Nick for the great videos.
Very helpful as always, thanks Nick!!!!!!!
My pleasure! 🤓👊
Thank you so much 😊! I started only my RUclips channel. Stay bless and be blessed!
I struggled soo much to speak in front of camera 📷😥
Lovely and wholesome. Great info, as usual. I love this channel.
NICK This video was just for me I was literally just looking up how to get more views and get people to see more of my content and I see that you just made this four hours ago😂😂
Great tips! Need to improve my video quality. I’m using iMovie to edit. Do you have any other recommendations for any free editing apps?
iMovie is good, but you can check out VN or VLLO for free.

Hi Nick, love your videos. Thank you so much for all the invaluable info👌
Curious, what is your take on scheduling videos? Just go for it and schedule them all or keep it to some scheduled and some to current time upload?
Thanks
If you're organised, then there's nothing wrong with scheduling everything.
@@NickNimmin thank you🙃
The personality items in the background is a cool design approach. It Says more about you without actually saying it aloud.. ✊🏾
Those subtle details add up. :)
I'm gonna try this auto-complete strategy. Thank you! 😀
Great tips. Couple of things I definitely need to add into my regular to-do's
This is helpful to everyone that makes youtube videos. Take care. 😎
You are the man! Always the best advice 🔥
👊 🤓
Do you have any videos that can help out gaming channels find the optimum posting schedule?
Thank you for posting such great content, all of your advice has been incredibly helpful!
Not that specific, no.
@@NickNimmin Okay, thank you
Watch his Saturday live lots of tips that work for all channels. Also you know the stats of viewers in is your backend. But it reflects usually when you upload...but worth checking out-it shows when most of your viewers are online.
My niche is kind of vague but I have a defined “feel” I’m going for. I don’t know, sometimes I feel like I’m kidding myself. I wish I was better at getting videos up consistently and frequently, but it just doesn’t work out sometimes.
Great content as always.
You’re very helpful Nick.
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure!
Nick, you are a great teacher! Thanks 😊
My pleasure! 🤓👊
