Well said. Though statistics tell a story. So no. All you said is correct and true. You can't 100 percent off stats and statistics on paper and accolades , awards. Those thi gs count in overall body of work. Yes one will dominate a category... but who's efficiently and balanced dominating all even if he's not number one is he top 5? Along with eye test, hear test. Like we all know ab- soul eats. He is a better lyricist than the top 3. He is there as many others are. Though because the body of work, consistency isn't there. You can't mention top 5. Like LeBron dominates everything. Jordan doesn't. Which some use as catalyst to why he better. In this drake dominates more. And longevity. So easily yes these top 3s. But drake changed the game. Sing rap.... you know. Tutorial after Wayne. Another top. So stats matter.

On the the lebron/jordan point, even with lebron doing so much more than Jordan on a daily basis there are still things Jordan has done that lebron hasn’t (thanks to espn😂jk). but numbers matter when it comes to coming to a consensus on a subject I suppose. but when it comes to anything personal it can be useless because people’s reasoning can make them asinine. Someone could have drake in their top 3 but have Kendrick or cole over him stickly because of his subject matter of their music but will still have drake in their top 3 cuz they acknowledge his impact/longevity. The personal aspect can negate things & cuz to some degree, using numbers can be like admitting u chose to listen because its popular (or unpopular).a personal top list could have some one like 3stacks who has enough body of work to be in someone’s top 5, but some say he doesn’t or some one whom may be felt is an lowkey big influence, like lil boosie or a Gucci n their crazy career/story can be made a case to be in a top 5 list. @@longjohn9064 but y'all Kendrick Fans also anoint any project he drops with this imaginary aura of "quality" just cause it takes him 5 and half years to make it. That quality > quantity narrative easily can turn into the perception that a artist ain't dropping cause they scared of being critiqued. I don't think Kendrick as confident in his material if it takes him that long to put out some music and I ain't heard nothing from him that should grant him decades to drop 12 songs while staying in top 3 debates.

Forcing numbers into the conservation is weird.
“Who is the best” shouldn’t factor in how many other people like them. It’d seem like you’re making other people’s opinions (album sales) a factor in yours, yet also ignoring that certain things have mass appeal outside of rap fan’s opinion. It doesn’t make sense at all.

Drake may be more versatile in terms of his genre of delivery (whether singing or trying a dancehall beat), but versatility in that mode delivery isn’t necessarily artistic.
Rapping with different flows WELL, having different types of content, concepts, etc make you more artistic, in my eyes. Ja Rule rapped and sang. But you could never convince me he’s more artistic than Lupe lol.
