Dr. Danoun, I was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. I suffered for years without knowing what was wrong; I have focal seizures in the temporal lobe so my symptoms were strange, hard to figure out, and assumed to be just anxiety. Your videos helped me connect the dots and talk to my doctor and get help for my epilepsy! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. May God bless you!

I am only 20 years old and I don’t want to be taking medication for the rest of my days. Could surgery be possible so I can get rid of this seizure in my sleep and stop taking medication? Than you doctor

    Hello Doctor.
I'm really glad that I came a cross with your super informative channel for epilepsy & seizure. Since I've been suffering from epilepsy more than 20 years. I am 28 now. My daily moves are stopped due to this.
    I've 2 quires and I'm mentioning below.
    1. I was taking Oxcarbazepine 1800/mg per day for last 1 month. Then I had minor attack, immediately I concerned with my doctor & he prescribed 1500-mg/day.
Unfortunately, my Carbamazepin level get down to (0.8 μg/ml).
Besides, my lever function level has pretty fluctuation.
What could be the reason for this downgrade therapeutic level? I am surfing though your videos but do not get the information yet. My doctor said I wasn't taking med properly while I was.
    2. Is there any foods that are prohibited to take who are having Carbamazepin/Oxcarbazepine?Could you please mentions some of those if there are? I am from Asia.
Note: I'm currently taking medicines in a day are:
    [Levetiracetam 1500-mg
Oxcarbazepine 1200-mg(Dr. Changed the dose yesterday again from 1500 to 1200)].
Thank you for your amazing videos, it is a blessing for all of us who are suffering.
    Peace be upon you.❤️

hi, I got epilepsy from a vaccine when I was little, then I had a seizure, they punctured my spine, I left the hospital, they told him that it would happen again, when I turned 18, I had a seizure and since then I suffered until 2011, I left to the operation, the operation was successful and after 2 years, the doctor told me that I can drive in 2017, mine said that I can stop taking the tablets, I was afraid until now, which means that I drink and 13 years after the operation that I did, my epilepsy was called temporal lobe epilepsy from the day of the operation I didn't have seizures, but I was afraid to stop the pills and now I'm tired of them, I drink tegretol 300 mg in the morning and 300 mg in the evening and now I started to stop it, it's been 7 days, is it safe since my Neurology said that there won't be any more attacks and gave my paper how can i stop in 12 weeks thanks in advance

Taking meds since 2001 ... it's like part of my identity. I'm now 30 years old and will most likely take meds till the end of my life. I have epilepsy because of a specific genetic mutation.

I don't think so.. Has to be in the brain to cause seizures except in certain cases when inflammation happens

They found "mesial temporal sclerosis" and started to medication but not a year passed by without seizures (all type's of Focal seizures) the medication was build up and up, causing allot of side effects, and It took 4 years before they suggested starting with the Surgery tests. The result was positive and now its almost a year ago since they removed my Left Hippocampus. since then nothing happens anymore :D !! Already started with medication tapering ! So after doing allot of research I really wonder why it took so long before they named/suggested "Surgery" ??

Dr. Danoun, is there a possibility that weather cause seizures? Meaning like barometric pressure being unstable and cause seizures? Even if you are taking medication. I have brain trauma. I got in car accident 12 years ago a horse went through the windshield of my car. I developed epilepsy and non epileptic seizures. But, I just was curious about that. It has happened to me, I even have had clear liquid come out of my ears and nose. 🤔 thank you so much for your videos as well, for the longest time; I thought I was crazy or my seizures were all in my mind and other neurologists turned their back on me because I do have PTSD from that day and other serious events after multiple surgeries and procedures that went wrong. So, I do take psychiatric medications. Your videos helped make me realize that my first neurologist was right. I do have epilepsy and non epileptic seizures. God bless you and thank you again.

Assalam Alaikum Dr. Omar. I'm a final year student of MBBS. On 21st April when I was getting ready for university in the morning, I fell down. At the same time i experineced blurred vision, and then i fainted out. A guy was standing next to me as i live in a hostel/dom explained that; as your entered lights were flickering fastly and you fell down your whole body started shaking, upper and lower limbs as well like fits or seizures. I have been unconscious for more or less an hour. Paramedics came and gave me Nacl 0.9%. +10 Dextrose and told me to take rest as all of this were due to ramdan. They said you had a hypoglycemia. My fellow said a very little foamy discharge we saw. and i had a very little lateral cut to my tongue. I visited neurologist a month ago on 29th may he took the history, did 1.5 Tesla MRI and EEG. Both are quite normal. No pathology was seen. He didn't ask me to take meds as it's my 1st episodee. But He gave me Sodium Valporate that i i'll have 2nd episode i should regularly take meds.
I wanna ask l, scans are clear do i have epilepsy or how many chances that i'll have 2nd episode?. What measure should i take to keep my health in best possible situation.
