The 21st staging of the FIFA World Cup was thrilling from beginning to end, and it also produced countless moments that endured itself in the collective memory of many fans across the globe. Held from 14 June to 15 July 2018 in Russia, this edition marked the first time that this football extravaganza was played in Eastern Europe.
Of all the 32 teams involved; 20 had also appeared in the previous tournament in 2014 at Brazil, while Iceland and Panama each made their first appearance at the World Cup. From Kaliningrad to Ekaterinburg, and from Saint Petersburg to Sochi, 64 matches were played in 12 stadiums across 11 cities in Russia.
France were crowned champions for the second time in its history just after they defeated Croatia (a newcomer in the Final) at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, 4-2, in what would go down as one of the most thrilling World Cup finals ever.
There has been an early version of the tournament's official TV opening billboard that was posted on FIFA's RUclips channel just days before the 2018 World Cup kicks off. That looked to be exactly the same as the final version, only to notice that the red star on the top of the Spasskaya Tower in Moscow's Red Square went missing, and instead, a simple cross was shown in its exact place.
The opener still had received some good feedback, but amidst pressure from some unhappy Russians; particularly those who were pro-Kremlin, FIFA did make an acknowledgement about the slight error on the intro, and it then had to be re-worked afterwards. Replacing and pulling out the original one (which was uploaded on 1 June), the fixed version was posted only a day later.

@archivesport7517 I can't find the Rio 2016 soundtrack on Spotify or on youtube on Som Livre's youtube channel. If you have the full soundtrack saved can you please release it on your youtube channel?

Same too, just as we attempted to find the 'Samba-Funky version' of the medal ceremony track.

Just an update, we still have access to the same link to the full soundtrack on Spotify, but Som Livre seems to have privatized the entire album.
It felt like it was geoblocked.

@@archivesport7517 Do you know what was the cause of Som Livre taking down the soundtrack?Iike an expired contract or the maybe a dispute between Som Livre and the International Olympic Committee.

Except if you see that part clearly in the early version, the red star on Moscow's Spasskaya Tower (seen on the upper left) was replaced by a simple cross.
