- New Mother Orangutan Sarikei holding her tiny baby girl orangutan
The love she has for her new baby is so apparent in this adorable animal video clip! The baby is awake and very alert and flings out her arms very much like a newborn human baby does. It is funny how she keeps hitting mom in the face accidentally and how Sarikei reacts by flinching! But as a true doting mother she just takes it and adjusts baby's position
The adorable scene also shows the baby's affectionate older brother Tombol sitting with his mom and new baby sibling and Sarikei affectionately touching him giving him some motherly attention!
In this HEARTWARMING video we are treated to close up views of Sarikei cradling her baby with so much motherly love and affection!
Orangutan birth
The Critically Endangered 2 week old baby Girl Bornean Orangutan was born at Chester Zoo to mother Sarikei and Father Willie and is the newest addition to the Bornean Orangutan family at the famous zoo
In this video we get adorable close up animal footage of the new 34 day old baby orangutan - after reviewing our footage we can reveal is a baby girl, but the gender and name is still to be officially announced by the zoo at the time of uploading this video
Chester Zoo Baby Orangutan
Chester Zoo is has a very successful record of Orangutan births at the zoo and most of the Orangutan Mothers are able to rear their own young without the assistance of zoo staff, this is largely due to the expert care and facilities the World Class Zoo provides for the animals.
The current animal population have had valuable experience with babies and have observed relatives caring for young, using this learning and experience to enable them to rear their own offspring
Birth of critically endangered orangutan at Chester Zoo
Bornean Orangutans have been considered critically endangered since 2016 with an only an estimated 100,000 left in the wild. They are seriously in danger of extinction which makes the birth of this new baby orangutan very special indeed

My heart just melted. She reached out to touch her older child to reassure him that he was still loved too. That’s what good mothers do.😊💕
Open your eyes, she isn't feeding the baby. Both mom and older child looked unhealthy with a lot of hair loss. The concrete prison is horrible place to force them to exist in especially when they are usually in the tree's and rarely on the ground.
It's so interesting to see the familial behaviour of mothers in captivity with older babies

Sarikei is such a great mother reflected by the devotion and love of her son and a healthy, thriving baby. I remember those kinds of yawns when l had four children within five years. Thank you Ape Tracker for this sweet video.
I think Orangs only have a baby every 8 yrs in the wild. So this is odd she has 2 so close in age. I noticed quite a few in captivity do.
@@brendabrinkmanpasichnyk3500 yes l have seen this too. Oragatans living in the wild are solitary beings and in the zoos they live in small sociable groups. I've wondered if this can possibly change them genetically and instinctively.

Big brother was trying to get some affection from mum and mum was more than happy to reach out and give him a gentle love tap😊.
