2 Outfield Drills To Work On Explosive Movements

- Drill #1.
Athlete will drop step and after about 4-5 steps, tosser will throw the ball over the shoulder of the athlete. Right when the athlete catches the ball, they will turn outside to the opposite direction, making sure he/she is planting and exploding. Tosser will then throw a line drive after about 5 steps.
Drill #2.
Tosser will roll a ball and athlete will field it in a do or die situation. That means the athlete will field the ball on the outside of their glove foot with one hand. The athlete will then run to the bucket, drop the ball in the bucket, and make sure he/she is square to the tosser before drop stepping and taking off. After about 4-5 steps, tosser will toss the ball over the athletes shoulder.
It would be possible to combine the two drills into one....
