I would highly recommend the Dragonfly 3P over the Dagger 2P for a true two person tent. It’s a palace with better features and at the same/lighter weight!
yeah,I’m choosing the tents between dagger 2p (1.84kgs)and dragonfly 2p(1.41kgs) ,until someone told me that dragonfly has 3p types in 1.51kgs,it made me turn up a new way. My wife used to hiking with me in a width 1.2m pad instead of single pad 😂.So dragonfly 2p is not suit for us. I want to ask you for the space is enough and comfortable, right?
@@布鲁噶嘉嘉 Compared to the Dragonfly/Dagger 2P, the Dragonfly 3P will feel significantly larger. It is slightly shorter than the Dagger 2P by ~5 cm, but it is 5 cm taller and much wider by 25-50 cm. As someone almost 2m tall, I would much rather have the Dragonfly 3P if I was going to sleep in the same tent with another person.
@@BigDawgCAM thanks for u replying me and show my the correct choice. By the way, can I ask u some questions, where did you buy the Dragonfly and what was the price? I live in China, there's even no ways to but the tents like Nemo, Big Agenes, Msr Hubba, Rei Rome.........
I’m a little worried about the rain fly not covering the entire side on the head end. I currently have the dagger 2 but I’m looking at returning it for the dragonfly 3p. Do you know if the 3p dragonfly has enough room in the overhead pocket for an iPad? The dagger has no such pocket. Pictures online show the 2p dragonfly with a large pocket that can fit it. But the 3p dragonfly looks to have a smaller pocket… hard to tell.
I’m a massive fan of NEMO tents. I have had two iterations of the Dragonfly 2P. I’ve loved both. I adore the OSMO version of the Dragonfly, personally. I had a Big Agnes Copper Spur for a bit and the rain fly sags like crazy in any consistent rain. Ended up returning it. Also the nylon on the Big Agnes tears if you look at it too quickly. The Dragonfly OSMO is stout in wind and rain, spacious, durable, love the features and weight. For a freestanding 2P tent I personally think the Dragonfly 2P OSMO is currently the best on the market.
@@SneakyCaleb It covers everything very well in my experience! I have used this tent while getting battered all night by a storm on the Washington coast. Sea spray and heavy rain all night and high winds too! Not a drop of water in the tent.
Just used my REI coupon and points on the Dragonfly osmo2 w footprint. Been using the REI PASSAGE 1 for 12 years now. Bombproof little tent but a tad heavy, and small. Can’t wait to get out with the Nemo!
I have and really like the Dragonfly 2P. I bought it before the OSMO fabric was introduced. I'm usually using it solo, but it's certainly big enough for two adults considering both have vestibules. The internal storage really elevates it to another level.
I finally bought my first high end backpacking tent and it was the Dragonfly Osmo 2P. Wow, what an amazing tent. I use it for solo hiking and is so spacious and not heavy at all. I am in love with this tent!
@@segundaordem they have to be tapered/mummy style and 20” wide, otherwise no. I use it for solo. I don’t feel cramped and it’s not a heavy tent at all. For two I do feel it would be cramped. I could see sharing it with my wife but not a buddy.
Devin, very detailed video, makes it much easier to decide on which tent. I would really like a comparison between the Dragonfly OSMOS 2P and the lighter Hornet OSMOS 2P . Thank you !!!
My girlfriend and I tried the Dagger OSMO 2P. We felt it was a little tight with two 25" wide sleeping pads. We exchanged it for the REI Half Dome SL 2 Plus, and we found the extra 4" in width and more vertical walls in the head and foot ends was a better fit for us. The OSMO fabric is really amazing and I wish the Half Dome had something similar or came with a silpoly rain fly. I think the Durston X-Mid 2P would probably be my next choice if I had to do it again given my geological location. Side note, I purchased one of your Dark Sky packs and am looking forward to testing it out on a trip to Banff coming up. Cheers!
When it really comes down to it, a 3 person sized tent will always be more comfy for 2 people. If you're splitting the weight anyway, it's a good way to maximize living space. I wasn't aware the Half Dome SL Plus had that amount of space. That's great! Enjoy the DARK SKY! Love that little pack!
@@BackcountryExposureThe Half Dome has just that little bit of extra space on the sides so your sleeping pads are not rubbing against the bathtub floor and the pole structure allows the inner tent walls to be more vertical in the corners. I swapped the stuff sack that came with the stock Half Dome for a Sea to Summit 8L dry bag to efficiently pack away the tent. I love nerding out about gear choices.

The Dragonfly does have two stake out points, so it would still be an issue in that regard. At least the stake out points are adjustable, which is not always an option on fly sheets. The Hornet in this case would be the better option.
