      @shotelco Год назад +14

In the past, archaeologist made their money like grave robbers, selling their finds to anyone who would pay for it. Let me assure you there is no money to be made from an archaeological dig today. It’s not at all like what you see in Indiana Jones movies. Any artifacts found go into the museum or institution that funded the expedition. Typically, it's governments doing the funding as an investment in potential tourism benefits. Not much to be made in history either (unless one has a popular youtube channel).
History should be funded by the people via the government though research universities, for the education and future of the people.
Unfortunately, in purely capitalistic societies, The economic pressure to find a reliable career after college has pushed long-standing and versatile majors like history out the window. So these departments are slowly being defunded.

I don't know if that's even possible on such a large scale with that technology, or if it would be financially feasible for any group or individual to do so. But I think there are likely other sites that may have suffered the same fate. So, I was wondering if something like that could help.

It is in their genetics for this is who they are. They burnt down Africa’s greatest city of the pre colonial era a city more developed that many European cities of that timeline with roads straights as far as your eyes can see. The mighty BenIn city of Nigerian then they claimed that they just wanted to burn a few streets, a few palaces and a few museums they looted. They shot any Africans who didn’t run away or faces them as the British troops raped and murdered their way through the city hanging chiefs equivalent of their most senior lords whenever they found one. They were an evil race without souls, without honour, remorse or conscience in that past and unfortunate time line and it’s a fact. They wiped out half of the planet in genocides. An entire race committing crimes against humanity, getting paid for it with the loots and getting away with it and never saying sorry and their children and grand children pocketing the loot to this day and majority of them defending them. White that crime gave them ever single privilege and advantage that they enjoy today. Can you imagine these evil people of that timeline having nukes and knowing what resources law under the planet’s soul? They would rescue 75% of mankind and wait for the dust to settle and start mining.

Hahaha you really have an inferioty complex dont you?! Why would Europeans go put of their way to destroy the history of a people (who you have no ancestry with mind you) in Africa? LoL whether you like to admit it or not, we do not care if Africa was advanced or not. What we do care about is we wish African people TODAY would start acting more civilised and responsible. Its the only continent on earth that hasn't got its act together. Blaming the world for their own problems will never get them anywhere.

Ignore the bigoted so-called archeology of the imperial crooks. To get a proper perspective on what Africa was really like prior to the European invasion, read what Herodotus, Pliny, and other ancient scholars wrote about the kingdoms and people of Africa. Read Ruins of Empires by Count Volney, hope I spelled his name right. When ancient scholars and explorers first went into Africa they had no axe to grind, and they gave an honest assessment of the wonders that they found, and the people that they met, Herodotus: Of all of the people that I have met the African hates injustice the most.

Thanks-I know nothing of ancient sub saharan cultures/dynasties-there is very little written or U-tubed about them relative to N African and Near East cultures.
But perhaps you are being a little harsh toward this archeologist who obviously found these cultures to be important.
I just can't see someone who was THAT interested in ancient African cultures-doing anything to damage them.
I am under the impression that re-burying sites-after throughly investigating cataloging them was common-you are certainly aware of this
    1) To protect from weather-wind sand blasted erosion-that way they will be undamaged (less damaged by time)when future scientists want to re-investigate them
with better tech-and with better understanding of. the neighbors-near and far-they might have interacted with
2)And to protect/hide them from "pot hunters" jewelry hunters ceramic hunters. religious artifact hunters-it is common for sites to be
ravaged by folks hunting for "stuff to sell" (understandable but it destroys the real information context)
In the late 1800's-1890-1900--pot hunters/vacationers/tourists dynamited the walls at Walnut Canyon AZ hunting for artifacts of the
Anasazi(inexplicably left about 1100 ad). In remote sites-where people are poor-artifact hunting is not unusual-gotta feed your family...
He probably buried it to protect it-from time and people.
He was one of the few academics seriously investigating "black Africa"-I just don't picture him being malicious.Africa-ancient and otherwise is usually portrayed as if it
was Tarzan movie- all loin cloths gibberish. grass huts etc- no gardens/farms/workshops/blacksmiths/plows/ domesticated herds-/looms/textiles/
    furnaces to produce iron -
    Well great video-thanks-Charlie

Well, if he was a supremacist racist, maybe he had the wrong profession, don't you think? Because obviously, if you are a supremacist of some kind, perhaps starting to investigate the history of other ethnicities that are not yours on another continent different from yours was not a very good idea. Unless that was their intention I destroyed those ancient places 🤔 (We only have the question of how many places the same thing has happened before.)
