@@randomperson010 she had a stroke and is unable to speak properly and her entire left side isn’t working properly. Still to this day she can’t speak in full sentences and at that time she was hardly able to say anything so she wasn’t able to talk about how she felt or even speak to gelo at all

Say what you want about LaVar's boisterous personality, bad takes, and inflated brand, but when it comes to wanting the best for his boys, his heart is pure gold. He's an involved father, literally gives his kids the world, and he's genuinely hurt when his kids mess up (Gelo getting arrested, Melo starting a fight in-game during the BBB world tour and going MIA during his draft party). Which is way better than Jamie Newman can claim. I do think LaVar is a little quick to dismiss his anger (imo he was a little too nonchalant and dismissive about Gelo's China situation after gelo returned safely back to the US, and perhaps the cushy lifestyle has made gelo a little too complacent -- gelo's lifestyle is a little too lavish and relaxed for someone who hasn't made it yet), but only now am I seeing the real genuine hurt, disappointment, being lost for words, when he initially found out abut Gelo's arrest, and that's so real and raw for any parent. Granted, it was tough to watch LaVar try to strong arm Lonzo/LaMelo into sticking with the BBB brand after turning pro, but the fact that LaVar ventured to create an apparel brand and a whole freaking basketball league is a testament to how much he cares about his boys.

Lavar is the Dad that many of us from the hood needed. Where I grew up in Coney Island Brooklyn, most of us did not have our fathers in our lives. So, the older dudes in the neighborhood, Video Music Box and the movies raised us. Many have either been killed, went to jail, or are still stuck in the same environment and rely on drugs and alcohol. I got lucky though. I’m a U.S. Military retiree with a Bachelor’s and two Masters Degrees. Had to do it on my own. Still wish I had a Dad like Lavar to call on when I hit my rough moments. The ball brothers have a great Dad. 👍🏼
