That's great to keep the same look of the mufflers but new. That's awesome to keep what's already been done. Rather than trying to put an updated looking mufflers something no one will ever see but the people that know will know. For a car to be sitting around all those year's I'm almost surprised Chip didn't have to pull the whole engine out.
Amazing how even the simplest thing can be improved once technology lets us know better. A superior design to a period looking product. Magnaflow makes some great stuff, always get good results with them in my projects!
I do like the gentle pace of these videos. As a Brit I am not always impressed by the big brash thing youtube often dishes out but I do really enjoy Chip’s videos.
Nice to see the progress. Man, the Magnaflow dude was tedious. I think I counted 4 times he said virtually the exact same thing, to a different camera.
Magna Flow did an Awesome job creating what had been there. As they break in the sound will get even better. I'm guessing that they May have tried the side pipes, but after the first leg branding happened, they went full length pipes under.?.
The real test will come when you get the car out on the road and get some of that horsepower coming through those pipes. It sounds quite quiet right now. There is no bark coming from that dog yet.

cool car find , whats up with the rear leaf spring u bolts, right side look longer ,like the nuts for spacers,is that what im seeing ???, hot roding make it work,
I've been following you for years like everything you do please don't take this the wrong way I was wondering why you didn't go with an earlier muffler more original MagnaFlow wasn't out back then I might have gone with a Smitty's thrush mufflers came out in 1966 I think I missed what year that car was built he said the 60s anyway can't wait to see the finished product can you comment on the mufflers
Nice work, but man they stand out way too much under there. I totally understand using stainless, but I, my opinion only, would have loved to see new "aged" steel mufflers used. Still, thanks for preserving this car, and showing us your journey.
Very nice 👍 I hope there will be a tv show to show the entire journey from footage of the old days to finding it and all the work and to the end where Chip decides to keep it rather than selling it.
I GREW UP IN THE FIFTY AND I REMEMBER THOSE MUFFLES, THEY WERE GLASS PACKS AND THEY WERE LOUD, THOSE ARE MELLOW,, AND YOU CAN HEAR THE WHINE OF THE TRANNY, GEORGE HIS SHOP WAS NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA
Sweet! It's fantastic to watch you shine up a piece of automotive history. Great job as always Chip!!!!!
you know the old saying, you can polish a turd
this video series had probably been my favorite I've watched in such a long time
You're a Great Fabricator Chip, always loved your work, God Bless your sir and your Family

$20 bucks says Chip goes back in and faces the Magnaflow logos toward the floorpan.
Awesome job Chip....what a beautiful car..... they are lucky to have found you for this revival, peace.
Damn, muffler man, switch to decaf.
I think he found them.

Great series on this preservation 😊
The car is looking awesome Chip. Love the job you are doing on it. Ron
If Stone-Woods-Cook were still around, they would be trying to trade you out of the engine for their Willys, HaHa. Love your show. Bill

As always nice stuff fellas. Thanks for sharing.
Not related to the exhaust... but I'm really curious what that chain-to-rod under the spare tire/gas tank is for?
Part of the towing kit, if recall correctly.
When the continental tire kit folds down it holds the tire in place. Notice the spring relief.

AWESOME 👌 👏 👍 😍 SOUNDS GREAT 👍 YOU'RE THEE BEST CHIP
Those remind me of a couple glass packs I had on my 57 Chevy!
Sounded like machine guns going down the street!!
Sweet!!!!!
Chip the level of care you are showing this amazing piece of history is truly remarkable. And Magnaflow nailed it with those mufflers!
Everybody loves Chip!
It’s good to know folks, who know how to do stuff!
You know you got some pull when MF builds you a one of muffler.
Magnaflow should sell mufflers and call them "Barris"
Said it before, this vehicle is BLOODY BEAUTIFUL.
Nice to see the progress. Man, the Magnaflow dude was tedious. I think I counted 4 times he said virtually the exact same thing, to a different camera.
Mr. Foose, I would like you to check out "laser rust repair", Dennis Collins uses that process for all his Jeeps. Just a suggestion. :)
No idea there was so much about mufflers I didn't know.
Active Side Pipes..... My. vote....
Awesome job Chip!! Are you gonna dry ice underneath the car?
Had a '52 88.
Was fast for it's day.
Magnaflow with their snarky remarks yeah I’m watching you fella
A lot of waffler with that muffler 😂
I'd be tempted to add a red and white tuck and roll job to the car if I was the new owner
Rich is the exhaust master!

"Functions the same way and provides the same function." 😂
Be cool seeing that old custom cruising down the road, top down and pipes rumbling. Wind it up and back off the gas and listen to it pop on decel.
The car looks strange with that original blue interior.
the brothers must have spent all thier money on bodywork and paint
I hope you fall in love with this car while you fix it up and buy it for yourself…
Chip will overhauling ever come back. ?
that car was a find
The length of that pipe an the garth make it have a deep throaty tone to it . 😮❤ nice editing.
Did you end up painting the intake manifold?
And quite reasonably priced too, I'm sure....
Car is super quiet.
Like we said in the day: IT’s Boss.
Preservation is the key
Leave to Chip
Chip knows what he’s doing but I would have replaced all the pipes with stainless steel for longevity.
I would have used mild steel mufflers and surface rusted them to blend in.
The real test will come when you get the car out on the road and get some of that horsepower coming through those pipes. It sounds quite quiet right now. There is no bark coming from that dog yet.
Love to help out on the car
Boyd Cunningham was never as good as Chip. God bless you
Would that be Coddington?
Have the bottom of that car dry ice blasted and it would look brand new!

What's the length of chain for that's under the rear part of the car?
probably keeps the continental kit and spare from being stolen???
Very nice 👍 I hope there will be a tv show to show the entire journey from footage of the old days to finding it and all the work and to the end where Chip decides to keep it rather than selling it.
Did anyone ever re install the rear axle on a car like this to raise the tail end with the spring pack on top instead of below it?
Rich did an awesome job on that exhaust
🙂
Not feeling it. I was hoping for a better sounding exhaust. Cool vid though.
Oh that whine
I GREW UP IN THE FIFTY AND I REMEMBER THOSE MUFFLES, THEY WERE GLASS PACKS AND THEY WERE LOUD, THOSE ARE MELLOW,, AND YOU CAN HEAR THE WHINE OF THE TRANNY, GEORGE HIS SHOP WAS NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA
He had a shop in Lynwood CA. Before that. I used to ride my bike by it in the 50’s
WHY ARE YOU YELLING????
Beautiful job, but sounds a little too quiet.
It's going to be sad when only a fraction gets offered.
The market is getting smaller and smaller every year. The guys that are really into the old customs like this are dying off. Sad but true.
@-Mike-69 yeah, like 4 died today. Even Frank Fritz died!
Sounds like crap
Great work! Super cool Barris car too.👍
