Undertale: Toriel is such a good caring mother, she's so sweet, her anger toward Asgore is justified.
Deltarune: DONT HURT GOAT DAD.
To be fair she was the enemy in undertale as well. One human soul let's you leave the barrier and 7 destroys it. He had six but never went outside to get the 7th and that is why toriel hated him because he killed 6 of her babies and didn't even finish what he started. I'm team murder goat mom.

As a kid whose parents constantly argued at the dinner table, his behaviour is pretty much accurate to how I was at his age.
Asgore literally did nothing wrong and was just having a fun chat while Toriel was constantly glaring at him like, what'd he even do LMAO.
@@aerissai8341 It’s implied in chapter 2 that Asgore used to be the police deputy, but something got him fired. Asriel was the only thing keeping the family together, and after he left, everything fell apart.

All that's confirmed in DR Chapter 2. Though I'm not sure about the Asriel part, I'm certain Toriel and Asgore divorced (with Toriel keeping both children likely because Asgore left his police job, meaning leaving him with no stable financial income so he chose to open a flower shop) before Asriel left for University, leaving Kris all alone with only his mom.
In a more detailed write: Asgore relieved himself as chief of police because of an issue that ended badly (i.e similar to his authoritarian role of Monster King in UT which would have lead to Toriel immediately distancing herself from Asgore) and passed down the role to Undyne. DR and UT counterparts are very similar, they just've lived different lives.

That’s actually is what Toby wanted from the original Undertale. That’s why there are so many funny lines, but there are still the sad moment.

Sylph of Space Toriel’s the problem here. In Undertale there’s a reason for Toriel leaving, since she was disgusted by Asgore’s plan. Here, there’s no need for any murder so why would Toriel be so mad at Asgore? He only said there’d be war to give the people hope.
@@thebiolibrary5572 Its not really a reason why she left him in Undertale, she could have stopped him if she was there. She left because she put the blame on Asgore, because instead of grieving like her, he became angry and wanted revenge. She could have hold him down, reminding him that this would not be something Asriel and Chara wanted (well, they dont know what Chara was thinking), but instead she left and ran from her responsibility as a Queen.
So yeah, i see Toriel as the main problem in both games, Asgore is not innocent as well, but atleast he tries to reconnect and do something. (like acually ruling a kingdom and bring freedom and in deltarune be a loving father)

THE RISER Totally. I can’t blame Toriel for being upset, but I do think Asgore deserved better. He was in a shitty situation and said what would make the masses happy. Toriel was pissed cause she knew Asgore wasn’t being true to himself, so instead of helping monsterkind she ran away. Again totally understandable since her son died, but the man doesn’t deserve this.
As for Deltarune I have no idea why they split. It was sometime before Asriel left for College, but we don’t have much to go on.

DigitalPixelz yes it is, just look it up. Or you could just test it yourself. All you have to do is kill flowey in a neutral run, and then spare Asgore again in the next run. Everything will be the same except, flowey will not kill him, meaning Asgore has a bit more dialogue.

This makes me wonder: why is Toriel so upset at Asgore? I know he was Asgore "You Must Be This Tall To Live" Dreemurr in Undertale, but what the hell did he do in Deltarune to warrant her anger?
From what I could piece together from his living conditions and those missed payment notes, I'm guessing he wasn't good financially and eventually Toriel was fed up with it.
