Southern Railway No. 5000 in August of 2023

While we generally use vintage diesel locomotives to pull the Missionary Ridge Local on weekdays, every now and then we do use them on weekends as well when one of our historic steam locomotives is not available for service.
In August, 2023, we had a vintage diesel weekend, featuring the Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia Railway No. 80 on Saturday, and Southern Railway No. 5000 on Sunday. It is a fairly rare occurrence to see the 5000 on the Missionary Ridge Local, due to it typically being featured on our dinner train and trips into Northwest Georgia.
