Do not watch any other video on hotshot trucking. This is the one and only. By FAR the BEST information out there! Daniel, listen man, I've researched how to get my hot shot biz going for the the past six months, and found other's information misleading, confusing, illegal and stressful. Here, in two videos (this and your other one about the actual DOT/MV application), you have allowed me to get set up, completely, legally, in less than a week (less waiting period), and feeling confident about every step. You've given me the path to change my life. I am so thankful for your willingness to share your expertise! See you on the road....
21 years old trying to become self employed. Young but construction is nothing I wanna put my body through for the long haul. Thanks for this man I’m sure there’s a lot of us that really appreciate it.
Go rent a truck a few times to get a feel for it so you're ready once you're through this process. Always remember to watch your turns and the clearance height of your vehicle. Good luck Hun!
I've been looking for a job for 3 years and I'm done wasting time doing tests, classes, and thousands of applications to make myself more attractive. This is what I'm going to do. Thank you for this video.

@@solovizion3192how’s hotshot going and are you doing non cdl. Last I make around 80k yearly should I just into hotshot I want to work for myself at this point in my life
Thanks for the Video! I'll be organizing on Monday! The biggest hurdle I'm worried about is the time between when I run my first load and the check for that run hitting my bank. I've heard it will take 30-60 days to get paid for any given load, I've estimated I'll need between $5000 and $6000 in fuel over the first 60 days. Should I raise that capital first or will the fuel card company have deferred first payments?
Ive been self employed for 10+ years. We have a lawn service, have a few other workers besides myself. Im in my mid 40's now, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get out there and make it happen every day, lawn service is very labor intensive. Hotshotting has been something Ive thought about doing for years. We do have a truck. Just need a gooseneck. I thought about starting out Non CDL and then switching to CDL later after I got more familiar with the biz and with regulations, etc. But maybe thats too complicated to go and switch or maybe there is not too much benefit doing that. Idk. How can I get some cost estimates on truck and trailer insurance, GL, cargo insurance, etc. So I know what kind of up front costs I am looking at before Im able to start hauling? Im looking at Start-up sometime this fall.
Thank you for the info. I want to start mid January I hope you can help me with the insurance and more. I'll set up a call with in a week or 2 thank you again. Oh I'm in california
@TruckInsurance hello. It's me again. Just a question will you be able to help get my permits. I'm having a hard time doing it. I'm studying for my cdl and I don't have much time to get them. We will talk and let me know how much will you charge me ok. Talk soon.
Yea of course, we’ll help you with any questions you’ve got. Every once in a while we get stumped by something but we’ll help you figure anything out…that’s how we’ve gotten good at what we do!
19 here. Looking to startup my own business I got a 5th wheel trailer I’m working on, and a Chevy 2500. Idk if I’m going to keep or sell the 2500 and get something better. Engine does have 60k miles and all new gaskets, it’s solid. But has fuel issue and truck still needs power steering and put back together lol Edit: I’m in iowa, if you have anything specific for Iowa lmk please
Hey Daniel, thank you so much for this great info! I have a 2023 diesel f350, but would need a trailer. Do you have good connections/recommendations for trailer leasing until i go ahead and buy one? Also, I already have an LLC for my landscaping business, so could I either restructure or use a DBA so that I can use my current business LLC and EIN? If I'm able to use my current LLC, how long should I expect to wait before I can be up and running with dispatch taking my first loads? Thank you again!
thank you for the information. One question. I have a Wyoming LLC that aka as the holding company for my business interest. ( I live in Arizona) The plan is that my Wyoming LLC will be listed as the Member of my HotShot LLC registered in Arizona. right at the beginning you mentioned that I must have an LLC in my state that I live and will be operating out of... In your understanding and to your knowledge will this situation I present have the same effect?
how hard is it to go from a non-cdl to a cdl. like im going to start driving non-cdl but i have a friend who wants to see my company started before driving for me and he has his cdl. i would want to use that cdl to haul heavier loads.

Hello… Thank you so much for such valuable information. A real quick: Once I have the BOC-3, UCR, Driver’s physical/ drug test and insurance, the authority becomes automatically active on the 21st day? Or Do I need to fill out a different application or do sth else in order to get the authority active? Thank you so much!
You need to make sure you have your insurance in place as well to go active by day 21. If you need a quote, we can help you with one here: forhire.pro/Quotes
@@TruckInsurance Thank you so much. I requested a quote from your website and I was redirected to one of your partners. I am now in contact with them. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I would order it as soon as you apply for your authority. The only thing that would change is if you got a violation in-between ordering it and going active which is such a small time frame that you should be fine.
We do consulting and insurance. We don't actually file your motor carrier application or do compliance assistance but you are more than welcome to schedule a call with us and we can help point you in the right direction for just about everything. quick question do i need to apply for IFTA and IRP. and also can I operate under a regular license plate or do i need to register for 26,000 lbs and yes i will be non cdl
IRP and IFTA is optional under 26k lbs…so definitely don’t do that, less is more! Depending on your state, you might need a for-hire plate, which is different from an apportioned (IRP) plate. I would double check with your DMV.
I have a question for ya I’m a new start up hotshot business Troy NY 12180. I bought a brand new truck and I’m wondering should I register and insure that truck in my personal name and add my business insurance to my DOT number and run under Ron the truck that way or do I have to register the truck in my business name
Does having a DUI / DWI on your MVR effect getting loads are finding loads? There is no conviction yet but does show on my MVR. I been talking about starting my own hotshot business then got a DWI charge. Just curious before I go threw all the motions of starting my business.
@TruckInsurance I looking at truck and trailer insurance and I lese on or just make a company but no drivers. Unsure yet, I know I gonna use one of those links and have someone help set it up vs myself and have a error. Thanks for your helpful video.
Anytime you are crossing state lines, GVW over 10k lbs, carrying other people's property and getting paid for it, you need the MC. CDL vs. Non-CDL isn't a factor in needing the MC or not. Non-CDL just has less compliance and permitting requirements.

Where can I rent a trailer? Is it worth it to own it or rent it?
Same question go for for the truck.
I don't have any recommendations for renting trailers or trucks when it comes to hotshots. You will want to purchase both a truck & a trailer.
