Thank you so much for making a clear and right to the point video! I learned how AND removed the lock on an old portable jewelry display case in literally minutes. Once I put a new lock on, I’ll be able to take (& hopefully sell) more valuable pieces to shows without worrying about sticky fingers.
After many views of other "how to" sites, this video showed the solution which the others missed. What to do if you mailbox lock does not have a nut and washer to permit removal of the arm. As shown here, the solution is simple: bend the arm. If you encountering this problem for the first time, it will not be obvious that the arm is soft and pliable. Pliers bent mine sufficiently to permit the old lock removal. Once that problem was overcome, installation of the new lock is intuitive. As a previous comment noted, "lifesaver". Gracias! Asante sana! Thanks!
Thank you for this. My current lock is exactly like this, without a locknut-- and we thought if we could bend the arm, it would slide out just as you show-- however, being old school US manufacturing quality, the arm is not bending at all. Honestly, I think the door will bend first. On another thread, someone commented that no one would have designed something that couldn't be disassembled and there was some 'trick' that had to be figured out. The only thing I can think if is a bolt cutter lol. I will try again...
no need to just ask your mailman/mail lady can they un lock your box so that you can have the lock change , that’s what i did . an he left mines unlock for few days till i put new lock

You're a lifesaver. I thought I was going to have to drill it or something and that was so easy!

When ur a home owner like i am , you have to do it yourself , or pay someone else🥴 Thanks to this video , I will be doing it myself 😂😂🥰
My building tried to get me to pay $175 just for a locksmith to do this. I said hell no and followed your video for only $13. Thank you!
Very easy to follow video! Thank you!
excellent video!! thanks!!
Great job, is a pain waiting for the mail lady to open the box to install a new lock lol
It's ridiculous! I can't believe that was the solution USPS came up with
What’s the difference between a 9 and a 5 cam lock?
Thank you 👍
Great! Thanks 🙂
My horseshoe piece is loose and allowing the lock to slip out of the hole. Should I replace it or is there some way to tighten it?
AWESOME🙏❤
Thanks my guy
Had to take a stationary off
do these locks come with a key?
If someone has lost a key, how do you remove the lock if the box is locked? Can I just take a drill with a titanium bit and just drill through it?

Okay, did'nt think of that, thanks for the idea. Peace.
