Great to see some direct steam ploughing! Hear in England cable ploughing was more popular. Probably down to the amount of rain we get and muddy field. Great watch👍
Smaller fields also made cable plowing a necessity in much of Europe and England since steam engine plow rigs take so much space to turn at the end of the fields. In the US winch plowing wasn't common and all the farmers with small fields along the East and West coasts of the country had to wait for small tractors to come along before they could replace their draft animals.
@ Yes what you say makes a lot of sense!. Even hear in England cable ploughing was only practical in areas with open land. Hear in cornwall with our small fields an narrow lanes it was never going to work. Financially it worked for our bigger farmers in the midlands and Lincolnshire to hire in contractors with cable ploughing gear, rather than buy the machinery there selves. Thanks for the info.👍
