Looks super cool! Excited to see where it goes
Me too!
The kids are gonna go crazy for the MACROGACHI
Lol I hope so!
I must say, the quality of your vids and humor is unbelievable. I have already peered into the future and envision you with at least hundreds of thousands of subs. As an electrical eng major in college, I can't say I've ever had a strong passion in the field but yours is contagious and is inspiring me to become the best engineer I can be. Keep doing you brother, it's working.
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate the encouragement! I hope I can keep teaching and entertaining!
I love your videos. It is hard to find easy arduino projects that are actually cool to do.
Thank you so much! That was one of my goals and I'm glad to hear someone felt that way!
I think this has a great future ahead! I think I will be trying this out!
I am more of a digimon fan so the wireless capabilities make me automatically think of battling, sending copies over, and jogressing with a friend.
Hmm, I like the idea of competition but maybe not battle 🤔 I'll have to think on it more but thanks for the awesome idea!
@@makeit4less oo if you want to focus on competition you could do daily mini games based on the tamas age and health. Maybe more than the scope of the project, but I will Def be following. I'm excited for the second part!
Make a community discord? I love your projects, keep it up!
I am thinking about trying that 👍
This got me hooked! Subscribed!
I'm working on the follow up! Stay tuned!
Accelerometer for a step counter? You could tap into that Pokemon Go energy and give out points for going outside.
That would be really cool!
I love this so much and we are making one. I just wanted to let you know the link in your description is to an esp32 but your schematics shows esp8266. Thanks heaps for your awesome video!
Hey, great video :) it's crazy to find a channel like this that hasn't blown up yet. I would not be surprised to see you pass 100k within the next few videos. also, yes; we can tell you're reading a script right below your camera. I look forward to seeing your channel grow. thank you for making this.
Also,
I happen to be an artist and I would love to help out with any pixel art that you might need.
I'm working on my camera presence but thanks for the feedback! Can you send me an email to makeitforlessshop@gmail.com so we could discuss the art?
This is sick! I definitely will be following along to make one!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Tell you what would look cute inside that…
I'm definitely open to new ideas!
Amazing!!! Im exited to see how it turns out!!
Im excited to keep working on it!
Awesome! super cooool project! can't wait for the next part. the wifi could be used to transfer items between two macrogotchi or to let them mate in order to produce an egg or something. I really love this project! keep it up!!!!
Ooh that's such a cool idea 🥳
@@makeit4less I have another idea, which seems a bit big, but which I find incredibly exciting. Namely, it's about bridging times when you can't play or take care of the Macrogatchi. For example, during work or at night while sleeping etc.. (TLDR - at the end of the text)
In your game, players are offered the exciting opportunity to send their in-game characters on expeditions while they are away or unable to actively play. This in-game mechanic allows players to collect valuable items and discover mysterious locations. One unique aspect of this mechanic is the ability for players to choose the duration of their character's journey independently.
The expeditions provide players with meaningful activities even when they are unable to actively play. By sending their characters on a journey, players have the chance to make progress and gain new experiences during their absence.
During these expeditions, characters have the opportunity to collect valuable items. These items can range from rare weapons and equipment to special resources or even unique artifacts. The collected items can later be used in the game to enhance the character, unlock new abilities, or expand their equipment.
Moreover, characters may stumble upon hidden locations during their expeditions. These locations could include hidden treasures, forgotten ruins, or uncharted territories. Players can then decide whether to explore these places, which may lead to additional rewards and insights. These discoveries can also contribute to the progression of the game's storyline, immersing the player in even more fascinating adventures.
A notable feature of this in-game mechanic is the ability for players to independently choose the duration of the expeditions. Players can decide to send their characters on a short 20-minute journey during a break or opt for longer expeditions lasting an hour or even five hours. This flexibility allows players to tailor their in-game activities to their individual needs and schedules.
Additionally, during these expeditions, players can accumulate experience points (XP). This allows players to make progress in character development while exploring the game world and collecting items. The longer the expedition, the more experience points can be earned, providing players with an additional sense of reward and motivation.
The items found during expeditions have different rarity levels, determining their value. Players can trade these items with other players, expanding their collection or obtaining desired items. These items can range from cosmetic items for character customization to items with special attributes. For example, some items could increase the character's luck level, resulting in more frequent encounters with rare or valuable items, while others might slow down the character's hunger level, providing an advantage in the game's survival aspect.
In rare cases, players may discover eggs or embryos during their expeditions. These can be incubated in a specialized breeding station. The hatching or development of these eggs or embryos takes a certain amount of time, offering players an exciting anticipation and long-term reward. The hatched creatures could possess special abilities or traits that assist players in their further gameplay.
The locations discovered during expeditions are marked on a map, allowing players to revisit them later. This encourages further exploration of the game world and enables players to return to these places to uncover additional secrets or face new challenges. Returning to these locations may also come with additional rewards, sustaining the players' motivation.
TL;DR:
In this game, players can send their characters on expeditions to collect items and discover locations, with the flexibility to choose the expedition duration. Additional features include trading items, gaining experience points, hatching eggs or embryos, and revisiting discovered locations, enhancing the immersive and rewarding gameplay experience.
let's gooooo
Glad you liked the video!
I'm definitely gonna follow this. Thank you so much. Could you please suggest what I need to focus on if I wanna learn how to approach projects like this one on my own? I wanna create a map with buttons that when pressed show videos and information on a screen, but also a lot more. Is there specific software and programing languages I should focus on?
If you don't have much experience with coding in general I would suggest looking up a coding basics video first. Once you are comfortable with some of the basic concepts of coding I would suggest finding an intro to Arduino video and going from there!
Cool project. You should make 2 and us the WiFi to connect them so they can play and increase happiness but make them tired.
But please don't use the WiFi to create a DLC scheme!!!!
Ooh I really like that idea!
Hey, cool project!
Ive been using a device lately called the ESP32-2432S028R, which im calling the "esp32 cheap yellow display", its basically an esp32 dev board with an integrated display (the same display as you are using) for about $15 delivered. Might make an interesting platform to build the project on as it cuts down on the amount of wiring!
Ooh, thanks for the tip! Yeah if it's all there already it will make life a lot easier! I will have to look into that!
@@makeit4less let me know if you have any questions on it!
Is there a part 2 somewhere?
Couldn't find part 2 but there's a link to the Gitlab repo in the description.
just curious if you feed your code to chat-gpt and ask it to improve it/ make any additions it sees fit. It would be really cool experiment
