    Something very eerie about that shot just lingering on the tunnel entrance...the cars moving overhead. The possibility of someone emerging from the dark. Brrr.

    I moved to Sheffield in 2003 and so never got to see the underpass known as the hole in the road and from what I've seen from videos on RUclips were there shops in the underpass or not.

      Hi 🤗
      Yes, there was underground access to the major street level department store, such as C&A, House of Fraser and YEB. Also, there were shops that were only accessible from within the hole itself, such as Hardware stores, Tandy, Thornton, GT News etc.

      Is that all you filmed? I'm disappointed, I'd have filmed every entrance and everything that was down there, including the fishtank, just to document how it was. My brother and myself filmed and took photos of the castle market, inside and out when that closed.

    Absolute dump, hilarious how all the boomers reminisce about this hole.

    People are reminiscing about a subway? How sad, and yes it's called a subway everywhere ,not just America

    • @wainwj11
      @wainwj11 10 месяцев назад +3

      It wasn't a subway. It was an underground town centre full of shops that connected all the large department stores.

      I think people reminisce about their memories attached to the place. Time spent there, with friends, family and loved ones, rather than the actual bricks and mortar?

      It was better than what we have now.
