Moss Side has improved a lot over the past 20 years although it still has its.issues.
It's a matter of opinion but Moss Side isnt too bad, you have the gangs but they battle with each other and i feel safer walking round there than other areas mentioned here in the comments. My mum used to take us to moss side to visit family friends. We went to shops there, not problems this was in the 70s.
@Mulberry2000 We were teenage punks in the 80s. We had mates living there and it was really scary place to walk through. Maybe it's because I grew up in a leafy part of Stockport, I don't know, but I dreaded going up there. It really was bad.
I think you should try and cover Brinnington, that was a while ago one of the most depressed places in the country. It's gotten a bit better than what it used to be but still needs a bit of coverage.
@@honestplaces Yeah idk what happened to the place now, I guess it just attracted the wrong people overtime. Nothing to really do here apart from a gym, b&m and library. There used to be fairs outside the first house library and GoLocal but they seemed to of stopped those events because less and less people went to them not many people wanted to setup a stall there. (If you wondering where that is, it's opposite the road from the post office, there used to be a marketplace there but it got all turned into townhouses, shop and library) I feel like you just genuinely don't see a lot of outdoor community events in the UK anymore as you used to, mostly councils and big brands doing them now but it's not common at all. Can't tell if we got lazier overtime...
Grew up and lived in Manchester then moved with my parents to rossendale lancashire when I was around 19. Although we still work in Manchester we don’t regret the move. It’s always an interesting conversation topic here or back in Manchester cause it seems like everybody here wants to move to Manchester and everyone in Manchester congratulates me and wishes they could move out 😂
I used to live around there between 2016 -2019 on Horton Road. Claremont road was quite rough. Always wondered what the Claremont pub was like. The litter and dumping used to piss me off
Ask someone from south Manchester and they'll tell you somewhere like Harpurhey, Openshaw or Collyhurst is the roughest. Ask someone from north or east Manchester and theyll tell you Moss Side or Wythenshawe is the worst. The grass is always rougher on the other side.
If you haven’t already, I’d recommend going up to the north east. Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland and the old mining towns above would be a gold mine for your channel.

Lived here all my life and can safely say there has always been the tossers and nut jobs, but they were all tucked away in little pockets. I grew up on Benchill rd and in those days, most of my neighbours well spoken and quite posh. Whenever I meet up with old friends who I grew up with there, they all say the same thing, we couldn't have wished to have grown up in a better time or place.

My Hubs had a flat in Moss Side when much younger, he says it was a very happy time.. The neighbours would turn up with food for him & when he mentioned it needed decorating, everyone brought paint & helped. A lovely carpet turned up on his doorstep one morning too!! We are both white & to this day we visit Moss Side once every few weeks for foods and spices & Bun & Patties. Never had a spot of trouble. I use to score from there never had any bother the police use to let the Jamaicans control the area and all was sweet so long as you didn't take the piss
Not true it depends where you go in moss side in the 80s etc, we walked through as a family Alexandra park no problems. One guy was an artist and he was doing some sketches there no problems.
@@jeepsthetimebandit I did not grow up in Stockport but Wythenshawe, and Beswick
I think you should try and cover Brinnington, that was a while ago one of the most depressed places in the country. It's gotten a bit better than what it used to be but still needs a bit of coverage.
Been there plenty of times as a kid. Wasn't too bad then
@@honestplaces Yeah idk what happened to the place now, I guess it just attracted the wrong people overtime. Nothing to really do here apart from a gym, b&m and library.
There used to be fairs outside the first house library and GoLocal but they seemed to of stopped those events because less and less people went to them not many people wanted to setup a stall there. (If you wondering where that is, it's opposite the road from the post office, there used to be a marketplace there but it got all turned into townhouses, shop and library)
I feel like you just genuinely don't see a lot of outdoor community events in the UK anymore as you used to, mostly councils and big brands doing them now but it's not common at all. Can't tell if we got lazier overtime...
For the roughest part of Manchester them bike are very safe lol. In Beswick, Bradford, Newton health, clayton and Wythenshawe they be nicked fast.
Moss Side hasn't been the roughest place in Manchester since the 90s. It's not even in the top ten IMO.
Lovely video mate. I appreciate the work!!
Cheers pal 🍺
I lived in Manchester & Salford for 2 years back in 2014-2016. All of it's rough! Some decent folks though.
Yeh same with most areas init
The Claremont is still open?!? Wow! Not been in since the 80s!
Would love to know how many pubs there were in 70/80s between it was an experience then

Grew up and lived in Manchester then moved with my parents to rossendale lancashire when I was around 19. Although we still work in Manchester we don’t regret the move. It’s always an interesting conversation topic here or back in Manchester cause it seems like everybody here wants to move to Manchester and everyone in Manchester congratulates me and wishes they could move out 😂
Claremont Rd is just the start of mosside, you were in fallowfield more 😂😂😂
All feels the same 🤣
Does this on all his videos. Did it for Blackpool too - roughest pubs my arse. The guy is deluded and milking people for You Tube views.
I used to live around there between 2016 -2019 on Horton Road. Claremont road was quite rough. Always wondered what the Claremont pub was like. The litter and dumping used to piss me off
Cash only pub in 2024, unbelievable
Can be quite annoying

Great epsiode as always bro! You'll have to come to nottingham to do and episode or 2, there's pently of rough pubs all over the city

Agree, they're many many places in the North West like this, probably a lot around the UK
If you haven’t already, I’d recommend going up to the north east.
Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Sunderland and the old mining towns above would be a gold mine for your channel.

such a weird comment. basically the same as the bad parts of australia
Yeh, sure, Australia has reverted to where it started, a huge prison, thanks to the cultural Marxists. Enoy the incoming Globalist New World Order, your country NZ and Canada are test beds.
When people mention the 'North-South Divide' in the UK, they're referring to Northern England and Southern England.......but that divide also exists in Manchester! Basically:
South M/cr = The 'Haves'
North M/cr = The 'Have Nots''
Your vlog's are good bro... respect 🙏....now then, your gonna struggle to get a beer, around here....90%.of the pubs, don't exist anymore....(I fookin know)....was born in rusholme now living in the wyth..(wythenshawe)....still go, wilmslow road, (rusholme chippy).for a tasty scran.... good 👍 that your doin this 👌 👏 👍
cheers pal. yeh estates are always hard to find pubs, always goof for as you say scran!
Wythenshawe did have a reputation back in the day. Like everywhere else, it’s not where you go it’s what you do and who you go with. Back on topic of Wythenshawe, while it still has its social ills and what not the area has improved thus its a tight nit community.
100% true
Lived here all my life and can safely say there has always been the tossers and nut jobs, but they were all tucked away in little pockets. I grew up on Benchill rd and in those days, most of my neighbours well spoken and quite posh. Whenever I meet up with old friends who I grew up with there, they all say the same thing, we couldn't have wished to have grown up in a better time or place.
I’ve lived in Stratford for 25yrs now live in Altrincham . I used to go to the Claremont to score a weed back in the 90s . Great place . Moss Side has some great people , old school Caribbean’s salt of the earth . Great video mate . You sound like you’re from Manchester?

I grew up around here, it's definitely not the roughest estate in Manchester. It's also nowhere near Wythenshawe, you've got Whalley Range, Chorlton, Northenden, Sale Moor, etc. between them. Take a wander through North Manchester or Broughton in Salford, they're rough as a badger's arse.
Just the one pub there now? Dreadful. Went to Moss Side a few times when I lived near Manchester and the people were more genuine than some of the more well heeled parts of the NW.
Yeh mate, guy said there used to be like 10. Shame iniy
Moss Side is a great area with good community. Most of the fly tipping is outsiders cruising off the Parkway. We do care about our area x
Not talking gang crime, but Moston, Harpurhey, Monsall, Beswick, Miles Platting and parts of Gorton are all just as bad in terms of day-to-day crime.

People could perhaps do with free brooms handing out I guess, though!! Mancs is very expensive for taking big articles to be tipped/recycled & could help folks more than they do.
