I would have said, “So you’d rather have the legal liability for someone’s injury or death in the event of a medical emergency and needing professional medical transportation?” During both appeals to the board.
The audacity to fine someone for having an ambulance at your house blows my mind. The first thing she should have done was hire a attorney second would be to contact the media and expose these sick bastards to the public! In the first place just the idea of not allowing a commercial vehicle to park in someone's driveway is ludicrous if you have a plumber or electricians come to your house where are they supposed to park?
Emergency Vehicles are permitted everywhere and they can park in the event of an emergency. That decision was something that no Court would entertain and yhe the Court would tell them to kick rocks. She also needs to contact The Federal Prosecutor and get them involved
While most of these HOA stories are fictional, meant to inspire and maybe even subtly educate us about ways to resist tyranny in its more shadowy forms. This story is more ridiculous than any I've heard. Unless the board is willing to go against all common sense and ban emergency vehicles from these gated communities which I don't think they would, except for non-emergency incidents, such as transportation of a person who isn't experiencing a medical emergency. I don't really think a situation like this would happen.
I wonder why the board members did not also get prison time for this. If it's true that they violated federal laws that would be logical. Next: Not the Hoa but the board members should pay the damages to OP. And of coarse all legal costs which could be very high.... including all lawyer costs of OP...That she got supported by others should only teel me that those supporters should get their support back. (To use in a next case as we learned at the end of the video...there are plenty) (May be also those living there who supported the board in their decicions at the start a part)
How did the HOA can think that their by law can be above the Federal law?
HOAs all think their bylaws are law and no other laws can change it.
ADA? Sue the hell out of them!

HOA don't like people stirring the pot, when it is the HOA the stirs the pot
If someone in their family were to have a medical emergency, would they fine themselves? I'm calling BS on this one.
This is absurd. Ambulances can break traffic and parking laws when necessary; they can clearly break HOA rules as well.
Why didn't Emily serve them with a cease and desist order?
That can be done if you are NOT a HOA member (which was not the case in this story)
Another thing I would do.. Contact your congressmen and or senator..

Hoa has no right y lnterfear with a medical reason. They just threatened her son's life. She should press charges.
She's right if she doesn't stand up to them. Now they will continue to push her and bully her to get their way.
Ou can Sue her for discrimination.

You can never override the ada and fha laws. hoa rules do not outweigh the law. these laws must be fallowed or you could end up in federal prison.
