I think in the demake's headcanon zero stayed dead after x5 and X never met Axl so it all can connect with the zero series and the "X fought alone for so long"

I remember playing the demake and completing it hours after it came out. One of my favorite video game experiences I've ever had. I really can't overstate how phenomenal this game is, please play it for yourself!
I guess it's better designed in general in a lot of ways and objectively improved in most areas, but because there's only X and its an smaller game then it's no replacement for the original as it's "missing" things, there's still a chance that they add Zero and Axl and the navigators without the tag system. The creator said that for now he will be working some years in his next original project then later he might revisit to add those things, so there's still hope, he just wanted to be sure he can actually finish the game, otherwise we would have an X corrupted situation right now.
Do people even know why X8 fans like X8? Amazing cutscenes and voice acting, playable navigators. Lumine is the femboi god of that era It seems to me that this game was picked up mostly by people that DON'T like X8.. Also, they got a bit of the lore wrong with the bosses being copy chip reploids in their original forms. That's only the case after the original 8 mavericks are defeated.
There's a lot of lore weirdness in the demake that puts me off of it (along with the difficulty being far too high for my tastes). I sort of expected this to happen when it came out, but it's no less disappointing that people are disregarding the original X8 lore.
It gives me the same feeling as those sonic sms 1 and 2 remakes, that aren't actually remakes since they end up doing their own thing halfway through (I'd like some details about the lore changes since I didn't play the demake yet)

I'm still wondering what inspired the new-gen reploids if they weren't based off of him. There's a cameo battle with Red that implies the new-gen reploids inspired Axl, rather than the other way around... I think.

"Better than og" IMO honestly i see it as a really good fangame, but it removes something that made unique X8 as it is the tag team and the characters. Summing up some other aspects and it doesn't quite gets better than the OG It could be better
X8 is my favorite, and I have mixed feelings about the demake. I appreciate it as a passion project, and the fact that they fixed some issues with the stages, but the lore changes are just too much for me to swallow. Also, I don't like how they changed the vibe of the Orbital Elevator - it was originally a straight line for a reason.

A lot of the design changes are objectively upgrade over the OG. As much as i love X8, Yeti, Rooster, Manowar, and Trilobyte absolutely destroy the Game pacing for me everytime i replay the Game. On the other hand, I agree with Jakob. As much as how slow it is on the OG, it has its own charm and and were designed that way, it's a literal Space Elevator so it'd make sense for the stage to be a long, straight line (also the music helps getting the feel right) Making it a traditional sidescroller halfway through just hit me on the wrong side tbh.
Incredible? Yes! (and super fun indeed) But better than the og X8? Nope! (still, congrats for the brazilian creator of this MMX8 fangame, Alysson da Paz. He did a magnificent job)
I've played both this week to confirm the Demake is objectively better for more seamless level design, more balanced armors, cranked up movement (double jump&dash), and getting rid of all the downtime + autoscrollers while adding a few QoL changes like allowing weapon switching while charging, and gave the annoying_boss_rush_padding_megaman_tradition a Twist that should raise the skill ceiling for speedrunners. This is the perfect sequel to X1 without needing a Tag system. Pacing is soo important that OG's main issue is having 1/2 of real gameplay, only thing that og shines is Zero's gameplay via spear hitboxes, and having a Ranking system.

i've beaten that section a trillion times so i'm surprised by how easy it looks in the Demake. Gotta beat it, just tried the first few minutes and it looks very promising. Always thought MMX8 felt like the ultimate challenge of the saga with it's ominous third stages that the boss fights get, but the bosses in the Demake are just cruel!
I prefer the original for lore reasons, and also I just love how the gameplay feels, especially with the tag teams and different characters. The demake simply doesn't have that mechanic, so I'm going to give it a pass for the time being.
This game was great but the big problem I had back when I played was that it was hard to judge how far in the edge of any platform you're on. I always struggled maneuvering in the teleporter room in the boss rush stage. Also bosses are difficult to tell especially final sigma when his vulnerable or invulnerable
High jump buff in original X8 in that section is pure hell since one single mistake holding the jump button too long will mess you up so the fact that Icarus legs part got rework and operate like Hyper Armor with hyper chip is beautiful Honestly if this game have Ultimate armor (i don't know if i can call it Ultimate armor since it just combination of Hermes and Icarus armor), i want full rework for that armor since the ability to almost one shot the boss is really.........unnecessary

Demake's Red armor = Zero (via double jump & mashable buster as a form of melee) And Axl is a gimmicky & lame megaman OC (do not steal) with an unbaked transformation mechanic.

Also the utter lack of downtime and fluff is what makes it complete if you PLAYED THE GAME, I'd say the absence of a Ranking system, Time Records, and Save files with an NG+ counter is what makes it slightly incomplete.

In fact, it will be more canon that way, since stuff from beyond X5 containing Zero was integrated later in the story. Axl even has a Bio Metal... technically.

The lore, the atmosphere, and the smooth gameplay of the original will always top the improved level design of the demake in my eyes. I like to be able to go in with Zero and Axl for maximum mobility and enjoy their unique playstyles compared to X. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort put into this demake, and I understand the gameplay decisions made by the developer, but it simply isn't for me.
I’d even disagree with it looking better and I grew up in the 2d pixel art era. It doesn’t look bad, it justs looks kinda flat compared to the models. A better looking game would be like MMX Corruption (Corrupted? One of those two names haha)
Honestly, I prefer this more compact and "Straight to the point" reinterpretation of Mega Man X8. I never liked the shop system, the tag team mechanic felt meh at best, and having to replay the game multiple times for completionism were bad calls on capcoms behalf. To me, it cut fat rather than genuine corners.

I played x6, x7, and x8 back to back over the course of 3 days so when I got Here in og x8 i just got insane ptsd from gate’s lab

Honestly, I prefer this more compact and "Straight to the point" reinterpretation of Mega Man X8. I never liked the shop system, the tag team mechanic felt meh at best, and having to replay the game multiple times for completionism were bad calls on capcoms behalf.
To me, it cut fat rather than genuine corners.
Well, the maverick and the orbital elevator stages are true stages now instead of a collection of gimmicky minigames
Looks and plays better but the insanely high broken as hell difficulty is a huge deal breaker.
