That bala has been through hell and back. Sad to see this outcome. Some of the dorado may be smaller but in general they are a much more gregarious fish and there is a bunch of them. They likely respond in kind with any attempted bites. They aren't as timid as some others.
No, oh no, not Balla shark i’m devastated Vic all the setbacks and recoveries that fish went through that’s a real shock. I’m gutted I’m sure you must be too Vic:(:(:(
It's your dorados I just watched one chase the tin foil at 8:40 . And I thought it was a bad idea to put your bala and tin foil back in there.. man fish aggressions hard to deal with isn't it..
Thank you. I watched the 8-9 min a few times, can't say I saw a confirmation of your words but I appreciate you looking out and trying to help. ... I didn't want to either but several peers were saying I should take the bala from 240 g into 1800 g. As you know I am usually hard to influence but these comments have been persistent over a long time from various peers, so I guess they made me try it in the end. I shouldn't have done it most certainly.
I think the largemouth would be good in the outside pond where you keep the tilapia and turtles he would be much happier and also give you more space for more rare fish.
Oh, maybe you meant the wild ponds where we harvest tilapia and Co. Yes, the lmb could easily go there. There is bass there already. But we'd like to keep ours on exhibit and also to continue learning about them. Ian says no one or almost no one is able / has shown to keep them long term in a fish tank. Do you know why? I don't.
Do them.black devild eat live Vic whet u feef him fish !? Mussels? Cod my gulper takes all of the above he need a live soon he needs to hunt every now and then 😊 .Happy Christmas Vic to u and ur family
Wyckii are predators and opportunists. You know as of my current understanding I don't believe in the necessity of live fish feeding. But my understand ever evolves.
Agreed on both points. The pike has been very cautious in the 1800 gal but no marks on it at all yet. I am counting on its extreme sass / bully character.
I think the main difference is that the Dorado are predatory fish and the bala and tinfoil are more of a 'bait' fish. So a difference in temperament hunter vs prey. Maybe if they were in a group there would be safety in numbers.
Dang.. that's really sad, that tinfoil was old and gigantic. I had a feeling it would be the bala though, they swim erratically when stress and are a more delicate fish. Sorry Vic...
What abut a hide 4 loiue he's got nothing to hide under at all perhaps a pipe or abit of wood 4 him I'm sure he'd appreciate that.hows the little blobs gegetting on ? U have only 6 now them bloody lice attacking gills I've had to rwak my heaters as its winter in England 🏴 now he's doing old 40 percent water change last night 4 both tanks .astro is getting big now bout 6 inch he was like 3.5 when i bought him last Yr now I've had him a while thank god I got thrre eventually after many failed attempts just coz I tried using chemicals never again with precious cargo [ gulper catfish].💯🤘🏻
Louie had a hide for 1 year in there and has never gone in it. He doesn't need it. I have just taken it out 3 days ago. ... The lice started to die off but still present. Soon I hope. So far no change in the 6 remaining gulpers behavior. ... I am happy for your perseverance and current success with Astro.
Thank you so much. Great eye! I am stunned! Yes, the dorado tried to bite or bit the barbel's tail! And the barbels are no pushovers at all. Wow. They probably were attacking the tinfoil too. If the damage doesn't subside or gets worse, someone will have to be moved, either the dorado or the barbels.
Funny enough, I just did a major shuffle and redecorate of my own today that was akin to all your shuffling and redecorating woes all rolled into one event (vacuuming mountains of old leaf litter in the cardinal tetra tank to make room for kuhli loaches, followed by shuffling 2 weather loaches and 23 neon kuhli loaches with the latter being so challenging to round up that one must all but empty their tank, dump it, and dig through the sand to get any burrowing hiders). I know how you feel, and before today I haven't felt the way you did since I got my leaked tank fixed and reshuffled on February 27 2022! Sorry about the bala shark:( For what it's worth Morti on Monster Fish Keepers has a bala shark they've rescued in 1995, therefore they can live at least twice as long as your record. I hope Bass and Mr. Black can cope well enough with the mutual space reductions.
@@Fish-Story That it is, I will go over the difficulty of catching them a bit more in the video with Liam as I have had quite some surprises in this regard. Another funny enough thing is that I accidentally dumped about 40 percent of a can of pellets into the mixed loach tank today: in other words, I put myself in a situation where a few seconds of disaster means vacuuming work to rival yesterday's the very next day. At least yesterday's vacuuming was good practice for today! Speaking of bala sharks perishing, if this one was 15 years old, presumably it was from Rochester? If so, its surviving the move's pinched air tube that killed so many other fish was a major miracle because bala sharks are quite liable to perish in reduced oxygen conditions.
TY Vic 🙏 enjoy the day
Thank you. Ditto!

Yes, poor thing. All the problems in what turned out the last year of its life.
Glad to see Mr Black get his own apartment.
Reminds me of the big one you had
Yes, a "nanocube" of his own :)

I'm guessing the Dorados are nipping the tails.
Maybe but I've not caught them yet doing it. I think you are referring to the Aral barbels tattered tails.
I think the largemouth would be good in the outside pond where you keep the tilapia and turtles he would be much happier and also give you more space for more rare fish.
Perhaps you are confusing us with someone? We don't keep anything in the outside ponds. They are wild and keep themselves.
I think they are referring to the Mayan Cichlids that you did a video on a few years ago.

@Fish-Story arhh right ok so they do in the wild then nice cat
The Dourados are too fast and aggressive to be attacked.
I think the new Crenicichla is more susceptible to be eaten.

I was thinking the same thing. Also too many fish, need more tanks
Agreed.

13:51 it’s the dorados for sure need to look more closer at the fish you can tell!

@ good luck! Keeping an eye out for you on the fish hope it works out!
@@Chrish_Fish That was a great and helpful spot!
Bala have a similar mouth to the roseline shark, i've observed
A similar telescopic extension of the upper lip?
@@Fish-Story Extending at a downwards angle, yes
@@Kevin-hx2ky Cool, good to know. I shall watch our roselines closer.

Sounds awful to be catching loaches in a tank with substrate. ... Of course, our bala didnt perish of natural causes.

bass are a dime a dozen. can't you put him back in the local water system? I'd rather have seen the bala get this much love.
