Yes, but ancestry DNa is showing what some Jamaicans were not told. After seeing their result, they say,but they told us we are from Ghana only. Nigeria, Ghana, cameroon and others
@elsabishop7669 yes, but most of your Ancestral mothers were igbos matched with men from gold coast. A jamaican born British was suprised that he had 58% igbo DNA, the rest ghana, cameroon. He travelled to these 3 coubtries.
@nduodiaka-ph9sl please don't tell us our history you have not been able to and certainly do not know yours. We are people from all over West Africa (our language tells us so. Our culture and spirituality is mainly and food is mainly from Ghana)
Ibo is popular. That's correct. Ibo is different from Ijaw. Most of people taking for Ibo are not Ibo, but Ijaws the natural riverside people. Especially, Jamaica, there was even a school name after Kalabari, later changed to Calaba, is not Calabar but Ijaw Kalabari people or Tribe.
@AllenGodwin-k2k look at Jamaicans Ancestry DNA results from diffrent companies, I have never seen ijaw or urhobos in their results. Either igbo, ghana, cameroon. Yesterday I saw ,urhobos, ijaws ,some akwaiboms identifying and speaking igbo. Even Asari Dokubo the ijaw man claims his ancestors from igbo.He calls him ,"Edi Abali." IN igbo, Edi weans wolf.Abali, means night. Edi Abali, meaning night wolf because the wolf always moves and makes noise at night hunting for prays to kill and eat.
@raphael3620 in the carribean, probably jamaica, they have place with the name connected to calarbar. Which is from slaves that came from that area of Bight of Biafra.
Nice to know this community in Jamaica can trace their igbo ancestor to the igbo in the southeast nigeria, the most successful tribe in africa.
Thanks continue the good work
Thanks, will do!
