Shang Tsung definitely has skill. As a scientist and a sorcerer, but he wastes it all on his own personal gain and doesn’t care what backstabbing underhanded tactics he uses as long as he gets what he wants. He’s nothing but wasted potential.
Wouldn't blame Liu it's obvious that time itself is stubborn no matter what you do certain people can't be erased and Kronika's spirit is always around just unable to actually do anything that Liu Kang may notice. She needs to stay hidden from him or he'll keep killing her
Even as a god, Lui Kang has limits. Changing someone's personality and erasing their existence are some of them. Besides, kronika did try hard enough to erase Raiden in every timeline but couldn't so it's practically useless to kill her off.
Casting my bet now, that wasnt kronika, but shang tsung from the other timeline where he won and killed kronika and Lui kang because that was canon. He is recruiting himself for some kind of use. He has kronika soul so he can pose as her at will.

Because her and her children are quite literally the foundations of the universe. If Lui Kang were to rid the universe of them the universe likely wouldn't even be stable. (Just my guess)
@@agnihistoria7951i believe this, kronika wasn't bluffing that Liu Kang does not have the power and skill. Unlike her he needed the crown to keep time from breaking.
Technically, she's in a New Era now. So perhaps she already succeeded in creating a New Era, and only needs to reclaim the hourglass to continue her plans.
I was just fine with Geras being back not Kronika but since this game will have both Cetrion most likely will be in this game to in some way since they a trio.
I love this considering that in MK11 Aftermath,in the first few minutes of the game Shang Tsung says, “She sculpted my entire existence to serve her; to collect souls for her crown.” And thus, Kronika once again uses Shang Tsung for what he was made.
The kronika here is probably not the kronika that was killed by Fire God Liu Kang / MK11 crown Shang Tsung. the Kronika is from new timeline that doesn't have the hourglass and the crown When Liu kang resets timeline he probably couldn't erase kronika due to being a titan that was existed in the very beginning of time, there were probably some events where Liu Kang can't change since the Titans have some influence in the Mortal Kombat universe. Or probably this is the Kronika from mk 11 and she couldn't die Liu Kang just turn her into glass and shattered her into pieces but she isn't dead and when Shang Tsung Mk11 died she returned back to life
He's just being easy with them. Sure he can't out right erase them but he can definitely control them if he want. In Shang Tsung ending he pretty much enslaved and controlled all Titans. Just like how he said in the first trailer, he gave them a Blank Canvas, everyone can have free will and can make their own choices.
@@SalmagrosI have to agree. It's not that he can't control their fate, he just chooses not to interfere and gives them their freedom. This is further explained in the new intro where liu creates the timeline he said something along those lines.
I think Kronika still got the images in her mind about the timing before new era, that why she wants to make revenge to Liu Kang to make time back to her timeline
How did Kronika survive MK 11? Simple. She can't die. Liu Kang with the hourglass can effect Elder Gods and below so she conspires to undermine all Liu Kang has done. I don't mind that she's still alive. I just hope that she isn't the big bad. I hope she's the playable midboss or something along those lines.
Indeed. I hope that we finally have the big bad we promise. Like the One Being or Lucifer. You know, these minor background characters that were more or less treated as mere plot device.
Right, I doubt there's even a story-perspective that makes her the "big-bad". Maybe in a mastermind sense, but it looks like she's pretty powerless at this point. It seems she'll be setting up events and utilizing stronger enemies to try and undermine Liu Kang's timeline and come back to power, but she's dressed in a disguise and hiding around so I'm assuming she really doesn't have much power at all.
@@dontpetentertainment3450if Onaga really is somehow related to Shao in this timeline I heavily doubt he's a foe. It's likely Onaga isn't any kind of villain since he isn't in charge of Outworld.
Bro, Mr Fire God did Shang Tsung kinda dirty. Like, how was he NOT gonna take the first evil gig coming his way? I get that Liu Kang wanted to probably give Quan Chi and Shang Tsung "meaningless" lives or something, but...call me crazy, how about them a loving family and shit instead? That way they wouldnt be tempted by magic and Souls? Not saying to make them nobles or royalty, but at least farmers with a kind heart?
I feel like this will eventually lead to a similar situation as Raiden's situation in MK11 with Revenant Liu Kang, with Liu Kang going back in time again, realizing that the only way to save the world is to save Shang Tsung.
seemingly this Kronica comes from a different timeline, perhaps that explains her apparent ''resurrection'', or is about the time that she betray and later imprisoned Tsung, about him, from a deadly sorcerer to a simply faux healer and charlatan, that is a unexpected change, a evil genesis begins.

@@CleverGirlAAH Nothing wrong with deconstructions. The meme is fine, perhaps just don't read comments if you expect anything else in the modern internet era, though.
Shang Tsung definitely has skill. As a scientist and a sorcerer, but he wastes it all on his own personal gain and doesn’t care what backstabbing underhanded tactics he uses as long as he gets what he wants. He’s nothing but wasted potential.
Damn it, Liu Kang... you had one job... ONE JOB!
He has kronika soul so he can pose as her at will.
but he won, so why would he create a timeline where he lost so he can try and fix it
@@deepfriedbollocks4402perhaps it's like in Pokemon USUM where Ghetsis came from an alternative universe where he won, and decided to come into the other one to try to take that over too
I agree on this one. There's no point in doing that. Even a child won't believe such a stupid theory.
I actually like this idea.
@@josephdomino1844 dude did you not play aftermath. There are two outcomes, one where shang takes over everything and one where Lui Kang wins. Those are both cannon, at that point with the level of power he has why wouldn't he come fuck up Lui Kang shit just cause that's what he does.
Shang Tsung is just like the rest of us in this new era.
I’ve always been a noob guy since he’s been playable but Shang was my second. Over the years Shang has just become a much better character
Ugh why Kronika have to be back she failed back to back in trying to create a new era and she won't give up and she clearly will be playable.
Never underestimate a "chronosage".
@@twinodoom It's not a new era that she created which why she's manipulating Shang Tsung.
I like this voice for Shang Tsung. It sounds just like Cary.
Good choice.
4:28 that face tho
The face of… I’m about to goto the strip club and get some poontang rubbed on me RIGHT NOW!
I'm pretty sure that big guy that confronted Shang tsung is Baraka.
I believe so, as well. He's infected with the early stages of the takaran disease. The top of his head shows it.
@billyabroad8057 Yeap, that was the first sign I noticed, too.
he look like Dom Torreto
Nah, at this point the MK1 Baraka's backstory is that he was a merchant, not a farmer.
Who says that he can't be both?
Shang Tsung the snake oil salesman lol
Even at his lowest he finds a way to go lower. Good ol Shang Tsung. Though i reimagined him in a different light. Still evil but different.
I was just fine with Geras being back not Kronika but since this game will have both Cetrion most likely will be in this game to in some way since they a trio.
Shame they couldn't keep the voice actor from MK11 for Shang Tsung. He was definitely the best
Ah, that interaction between Raiden and Kung Lao sure felt authentic
This scene actually made me feel bad for Shang Tsung for 2 seconds until I realized it was Shang Tsung
4:27 when the hot Latina walks in
I gotta say, this game cinematics are insanely good
I love this considering that in MK11 Aftermath,in the first few minutes of the game Shang Tsung says, “She sculpted my entire existence to serve her; to collect souls for her crown.” And thus, Kronika once again uses Shang Tsung for what he was made.
Turns out Shang played himself, literally, as the 'Kronika' here was the same Shang Tsung from MK11.
And we didn't need her in the first fucking game of the new timeline
I think Kronika still got the images in her mind about the timing before new era, that why she wants to make revenge to Liu Kang to make time back to her timeline
I like how Kung Lao and Raiden are wearing hats but their faces are still being blasted by the sun.
Why doesn't Liu Kang erase Shang Tsung existence from the start?
Liu : " I must consult with the game developers"
Wasting his life as a con artist is more severe punishment than death.
I love how he is on the verge of breaking at the beginning right before Kronika shows up
Shang Tsung’s ego is like a wildfire…
Deprive the spark; and there is no danger.
Provide the spark; and it will grow, consume & destroy.
Hands down the best version of shang tsung to date
How did Kronika survive MK 11?
Simple. She can't die. Liu Kang with the hourglass can effect Elder Gods and below so she conspires to undermine all Liu Kang has done. I don't mind that she's still alive.
I just hope that she isn't the big bad. I hope she's the playable midboss or something along those lines.
Indeed. I hope that we finally have the big bad we promise. Like the One Being or Lucifer.
You know, these minor background characters that were more or less treated as mere plot device.
I just want Onaga to be the final boss and all these other bad guys could be his henchmen or something
@@dontpetentertainment3450 That works too. Onaga is a really underappreciated villain that is heavily underutilized.
4:22 *It has begun*
Bro, Mr Fire God did Shang Tsung kinda dirty. Like, how was he NOT gonna take the first evil gig coming his way? I get that Liu Kang wanted to probably give Quan Chi and Shang Tsung "meaningless" lives or something, but...call me crazy, how about them a loving family and shit instead? That way they wouldnt be tempted by magic and Souls? Not saying to make them nobles or royalty, but at least farmers with a kind heart?
I gotta say, I love the direction of the past few MK games. Terrific stories, great motion capture and good voice acting.
I also can't wait to see Kronika meet Quan Chi.
I'm having ABC'S Once Upon a Time vibes with all this time-traveling and plot twists.
Kronika pops up shit just got real most definitely using Shang tsung to bring herself back and Shinnok
Damnnn that Voice Acting for Sheng Tsung.
Looking forward to it !
I feel like this will eventually lead to a similar situation as Raiden's situation in MK11 with Revenant Liu Kang, with Liu Kang going back in time again, realizing that the only way to save the world is to save Shang Tsung.
Saving Shang Tsung? Hell no!
He must win
seemingly this Kronica comes from a different timeline, perhaps that explains her apparent ''resurrection'', or is about the time that she betray and later imprisoned Tsung, about him, from a deadly sorcerer to a simply faux healer and charlatan, that is a unexpected change, a evil genesis begins.
To be fair he was an evil con artist to begin with
that voice, tone, the face structure, for me it's a back in the 90's mk movie, i already love it
I'm assuming Liu Kang tried to make Shang Tsung good but no matter how many changes he made, they all turn out the same
After all Shang has done I don't think Liu wants him happy.
"It has Patreon flowers"
That vile fiend! I knew he was always evil 😂
Shang tsungs sales talks was strong tho
It wouldn't surprise me with all the time lines. I'm just glad he's back.
Aye I’m not gay but Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Liu Kang tho…
Yall need to chill fr
The way shang tsung smile he is very cute boy who else love his smile ☺.
Weird how Baraka human form put down Shang Tsung. Baraka should be Shang Tsung Arch nemesis in the new timeline.
Shang Tsung as a snake oil salesmen is perfect
What if this isn't her but another titan
Same face, same voice, she knows about the previous timeline. Pretty sure its Kronika
I kinda expected Shang Tsung to be like "Don't bullshit a bullshitter, lady" to Kronika.
I mean he's still evil just on a smaller scale, kronika just give him the power
I know it isn't Cary but the guy doing shang tsung actually sounds like a younger version of him
