Welcome to We Who Are About To Die. This game features a physics-based combat system with directional attacks. You control your character fully, at all times, based on complex inputs - you will never sit there while an animation plays.
This game's combat will take practice: at first you will find it hard to even hit anything properly. To win and master combat you will have to slow down and pay attention, pressing random buttons in a panic will only send your gladiator to an even earlier grave. You will learn how to move, how to use momentum to hit HARD, how to hit targeted weak spots and eventually, you will make up your own moves and fight in your own style.

Take control of a gladiator with a single life, that you lead to an inevitable dea-- I mean, to victory and glory! Fight from the Pits to the Arena into the Stadium, pleasing larger and larger crowds until you finally become a legend of the Grand Stadium.
Each run is totally unique!
There are many roads to becoming champion. Try different approaches and improvise through the randomisation to survive in the long run.
Strategise your way to victory - combat skills alone are not enough!
Deal with random events, choose your next matches, please the rich patrons, please the crowds, expand your school, setup your training regime, bribe for information, hire professional help... and much more!
Fully modular equipment system!
Progress and purchase/loot weapons and armor. Master 8 weapon classes that all play differently. Spend hard earned gold and influence and outfit your character piece-by-piece.

So as someone that has invested pretty heavily into this game now, I have some tips!
1) The reputation system is basically only for random events right now, so basically positive reputations have a higher chance for positive random events and lower reputations have a higher chance for negative random events.
2) It is SUPER important to focus on the betting mechanic to be successful, as far as the 50 damage to teammates right now everyone starts with 100 health, so you would need to take half of their health or 25% of two of them. I generally focus on the timed based ones because they are REALLY nice for the smaller fights like 1v1 or the many v 1.
3) You can only keep weapons that you loot when the battle condition allows it, which brings up another point, it's worth paying attention to the details of the battle conditions. They can sometimes make or break a fight early in the game. I also recommend going for the scollo upgrade Entourage as soon as possible. It'll give you a +2 to your teammates whenever that condition is applied to the battle (even in a 1v1 which is awesome). Afterwards I'd go for the heirloom upgrade which will let you bring an item in your first auxiliary inventory slot to your next character. Which means you can bring a super powerful weapon to a character starting out. Just be sure that you don't die with it before you put it in your auxiliary slot.
4) Training... Do it early as it costs more the higher your rank. I would definitely invest at least 1 point every week in whatever weapon you're using.

Hey Drae! If you really enjoy this game, you should check out the arena mode on a game called Exanima. It is COMPLETELY physics based and has quite the learning curve. I think it would be worth it to check out sometime!

Oh crap, seeing this unlocked some ancient draegast channel memories, I have no idea what the game was called but you made a few episodes playing it years ago when besiege was still picking up steam. I think it was an arena style game with three players, where each player controlled a army of robots or mannequins where the goal was to navigate the arena and ether take control of the enemy base or conquer the opposing armies and assimilate them. I think you controlled a particular robot which was the commander, and it had a set of lights on the back of its neck that indicated how many soldiers you were leading
