In the mgs4 Novel written in universe by Hal for Sunnys husband. Says liquid infiltrated the Middle East as a sleeper agent for the British Secret Intelligence Service, but he was taken prisoner because his government sold him out
do you think that's during the time he eventually met with big boss what's your take on it ?
@mycardboardbox I believe Big Boss was getting ready for his war against the Patriots. He saw Liquid as just another Soilder, whom he could plant his Outer Heaven Meme into.

Hal writes that a Sunny his is like Snake but he should be his own man and just live. live with sincerity. respect other people's freedoms and believe in yourself
This video essay on Liquid Snake is exceptional. While he's often considered the most entertaining yet shallow villain in the franchise, my perspective differs. Liquid emerges as a profound character, whose entire life was stolen and who endured a challenging upbringing under the Patriots, likely in the care of Dr. Clark-the person responsible for rewiring Gray Fox's nervous system to induce constant agony.
Liquid escapes to Africa, becoming a child soldier and encountering Venom Snake in the 1980s. The events of The Phantom Pain must have been bewildering, fostering resentment as isolation grows on the base. Despite Venom's well-intentioned attempt to reach out, it proves ineffective.
The video touches on an often overlooked aspect: Liquid meeting the real Big Boss and realizing Venom isn't him. Though specifics are unclear, this adds intrigue to MGS5. Noteworthy is Venom's restrained behavior; he refrains from belittling Eli or asserting superiority, something Liquid explicitly said his father Big Boss did to him.
In the late '80s or early '90s, Liquid likely discovers the truth about the real Big Boss. While my opinion lacks evidence, what is clear is Liquid's heightened awareness of the Patriots compared to his brothers. Solidus, despite recognizing their malevolent influence, remains ignorant of the organization's true nature. Liquid may of been fully aware of Solidus's actions in MGS1. It's my belief that Liquid simply didn't care about his machinations. but is still ignorant of their brotherly connection.
here's a theory of mine. Liquid was also used as a puppet in mgs letting him think he was in control but it was really ocelot and the patriots. However Liquid might have known this and simply chose to get along with it. Just for an opportunity to fight snake. he just likes fighting in the same way that grey fox does. He may also partly want to undermine the patriots but even so he partly seems to go along with it partly seems resentful.
I think I figured out how Ocelot became possessed by Liquid.
Ocelot didn’t undergo the hypno therapy until later after he lost liquid’s arm. Maybe even before.
However while the arm was attached Ocelot being the son of the Sorrow summoned Liquid as a spirit medium using the arm as a catalyst.
The hypnotherapy in addition to this possession enabled ocelot to “save” a copy of Liquids mind over his own.
That’s my reasoning anyway, but that’s just a theory.

I wish we got more out of psycho mantis like a mock boss battle or something at least ( I know you kinda do when you fight Sal Metal gear ) it would have been cool to get more out of arguably the most iconic bosses in the franchise

@@Demimatrix its a possibility but its not "confirmed" because we dont know if the events kingdom of flies mission 51 happened after or before Mission 46 Truth - The Man Who my guess is just as good as yours, it may not be considered canon since it was cut content and diamond dogs are seen to collect metal gear but in free mode we never see it at base after liquids disappearance, but either way it adds to the story lore, so that ones up for you to decide, hope that helps!

that's interesting you know, considering the sons of big boss are liberated, solid snake is no longer a pawn of the patriot's, solidus challenges the patriots for that said liberty, and liquid live on through ocleot,

Worth a watch because Hideo clearly has an affinity for Kubric films and themes, such as surrealism and switching between the waking and dream state trying to understand which is truly real. Love you videos and the research and passion you put into them.

Wait, is the reason liquid didn't die too the parasite bc psycho mantis removed them from him at 23:59 ? And him having been controlling volgin at the start does make sense with his backstory about having burned down his village with his father in it, believe that's why he said that even he wasn't as bad a solid snake in MGS but that they were alike, or am i massively over thinking this?

here comes my stance on the liquid ocelot possession. Ocelots father was a spirit medium so i think mgs2 it was real but in og mgs rising was suppose to be between mgs2 and mgs4 and we saw raiden fighting Crying wolf. so maybe Raiden cut Liquid arm and frees Ocelot?
hey!, that's a very interesting point there, and i didn't even know that about the og mgs rising which is refreshing to hear, but it is explained in the mgs wiki that ocelot personally changed his arm to a prosthetic one so thats not possible
Liquid tries to free himself and not be Big Boss, but becomes like Big Boss in MGS 1. Wears the same coat like him and makes Outer Heaven, has a Metal Gear.
The person that becomes less like Big Boss is no doubt Solid Snake. He manages to live a good life despite having to constantly battle. He doesn’t hate nor
tries to make at Outer Heaven. Even though he has the recessive genes, he overcomes both Big Boss and Liquid. Liquid may be a brilliant sob,in the end he is pathetic. What is even more pathetic is that Liquid failed to kill Big Boss, Snake managed to accomplish that, twice, no 3 times. He couldn’t even kill Venom Boss, fucking sad!
Recessive genes are NOT inferior! Liquid's understanding of genetics is flawed and colored by his self loathing.
Liquid is the superior clone because he possessed the recessive genes of Big Boss. The "soldier genes".
The entire coda of Metal Gear Solid is that nurture beats nature. Liquid was engineered to be the perfect soldier while Snake was basically engineered to be the perfect civilian. But Snake was the one who surpassed Liquid, he defeated Big Boss and Liquid even though he wasn't given soldier genes.
The entire story of the games is that a person decides who they are, not their genes. That the idea of a person, their meme, will always outlive their genes.
Liquid is the superior clone because he has recessive genes. Recessive genes are not inferior, they are not flawed, they are not garbage. That's the tragedy of Liquid Snake, for all his intelligence he actually has a horrible understanding of genetics.
