I agree Cool band awesome tunes but a lot of respect has to be given to Jim Peterik of Survivor and his involvement with 38 Special he helped Co Write Hold on loosely, Caught up in You ,Rockin into the Night He had a great relationship with the band and it shows with writing some timeless hits
I don't think these guys are the originals. I think outside people come alone half way through their careers seeing the popularity of the songs and they go talk to lawyers to acquire the name of the group after its original members have put the kaibosh on things.

What a difference between 1983-1985 when I saw them 3 times live "original line-up" and now. Obviously. Only Don Barnes remaining now. Back then they had 2 drummers and a couple female backup singers "post Dale Krantz". Miss Donnie Van Zant running around onstage and his vocals also. Also Jeff Carlisi on lead guitar!! 38 Special,so underrated.quite possibly one of the greatest rock bands of all time, their hits speak for themselves.not to mention the movie soundtracks.they will always be my go to good clean rock and roll band,a long time fan.God bless ya’ll guys🙏🇺🇸
seen them at a free show in rochester maybe eight yrs ago and while they were playing the power went out when the power came back up they went right back into the song .they sounded great.
Jim Peterik of Survivor made a big contribution to writing Caught Up In You, and Hold On Loosely. And Jim has a new group 'Pride Of Lions' that has also put out great songs, along with a newer live version of Survivor's 'I Can't Hold Back' with Pride Of Lions with an amazing newer singer, check it out.

My bf would have me sing 38. Special for him I had all their albums I wouldn't trade growing up in the 80's for nothing I wish my G.babies could grow up in the world I did..God help us❤
I just can't. I mean, it's all good that people still pay to see this incarnation and it's good for the band members that they can make a living but when you see the band in their prime in the mid 80s, then there's no ending up here at least for me.
Totally agree! While I admire Don Barnes for what he has brought to the band all these years, this is a shell of .38 Special. No Donnie, LJ (RIP), 2 drummers, background singers and of course Jeff Carlisi. It’s really the Don Barnes Band. Glad folks enjoy it but as you say, I can’t!
Still sound pretty good Don. Perfect volume on instruments to still hear lyrics. Too many bands playing too loud to hide poor singing, not the case here.

They should call it .38 special feat. Don Barnes. Or,
Don Barnes’ .38 Special.
Since he’s the only one left.

3/25/23; the date is in the title. The keyboard player sings background vocals.
