Clipper is from Pan Am airways. That was their call sign. Air traffic control referred to Pam Am airplanes as clipper during air traffic communication.
The airport needs to substantially improve its operations. It is losing airlines and the fees added to passenger tickets are hurting the travel to Liberia. Thank you for interesting coverage of housing aspect.
Damn the place looks deplorable and unkempt, taking into account the place being there over 76 years or so. Various governments never developed anything, let alone build anything new, afraid of the recurring of Liberia.

Clipper is a brand of Airplane. Like you say Toyota, Mercedes as brands of cars. Those days, clippers were the most popular for Pan American Airlines.
Clipper is a kind of Air Plane. So it probably has something to do with that.
