This is a good conversation early on. I wish more folks would listen and pay attention to what he saying. This is deep!
Never heard of him
@@emanualcarr7408 What does that have to do with listening?
@@emanualcarr7408Really good tight end for NY. Drugs is a terrible thing
I went to high school with Darren…. Nice to see him grinding.
Same. I was a freshman at north Cobb he was a junior. Shouts out kennesaw mountain too lol
You must have been wondering what he’s been up to all these years
I have always had the top most respect for Darren bc getting clean from Opioid addiction is one of the hardest things to do in life. Shout outs to D Dub.
was he really an outcast?
Looks like we all went to high school together. I went to north Cobb as well. I remember him being small, then he randomly grew to be super tall.
I enjoyed this interview because of how vulnerable he was. He did not shy away from the trending questions and seemed well prepared to answer them. I wish him well in figuring out his journey of happiness.
Wow! This interview nearly made me cry with how much i could relate as a former drug addict who really struggled in the recovery stage because i wasn’t able to look at myself in the mirror and be honest with who i truly was along with past trauma. But once you win the battle against yourself you truly can do anything. May God bless him and keep him on the right path.
Amen 🙏🏽
May God continue to watch over you on your personal journey
The first 3 minutes and you realize this interview is about to be good.
I thought the same exact thing
Great interview no doubt
When he said trying to figure it out. I knew we were going deep.
Facts! I dropped a like as soon as I heard the first couple of minutes
Open honest conversation. I like this dude.
He seems like a decent human. Keep going Bruh.
This guy took self awareness to another level and did a 360 reevaluation. Salute 🫡
Gruden plucked him of the Ravens practice squad and he turned into a beast 2019/2020. Those 2 seasons got him paid generational money. Glad he’s doing well.
All facts✅
Hell yeah!! I remember seeing this a few years back when he first started blowing up!! lol, Gruden snag that boy!!
This man had gronk or kelce potential. Gruden is Gruden but most people don't understand he could bring out the best in broken people as well as care enough to use that to help them find peace and happiness as a person
@@austinbridges4568Great grandson of the famous musician "Fats Waller" song - 'Aint Misbehavin'.....google it!😅
He is a great-grandson of composer and jazz pianist Fats Waller.
@darrenwaller bro i didnt know who you were when you became a Raider. Im so blessed that you did because within two years i got divorced rent to rehab and truly dove into figuring out how to love myself became from day one you were open and honest about things most men aren't strong enough to admit. Thank you for being a real man admitting your struggles/weak points as well as giving people a path to overcome their personal weaknesses. Its stories like yours and watching men like you grow and overcome that has kept me in the fight and trying to be a better man every day.
I agree when he says being in nature brings you peace. Just being outside on the trails can do a lot for stress and anxiety
I heard your story the other morning on NPR. My daughter and my nephew (who plays football) were with me. It was such a blessing. I felt like you spoke directly to him about a lot of things. He actually really loves basketball more than football but he plays football (I think) for the same reasons you did. Thank you for sharing your story 😊.
Never heard of this man until today but I like the interview… he’s well spoken & express himself very well!
Record holder for receptions in a season for the Raiders.
What's good Coog, I see that avi.
@@DivineForcesBro 🐾
I love this get everything you can from the league and retire from the league before it retires you this young man still has alot of life ahead of him
Great conversation. If more people were as self aware as this man, the world would be a better place
Dude was a phenomenal athlete, at one point for the Raiders he was like top 3 tight ends in the league easily. Always has been a humble dude, so I hope he enjoys his future from here on.
I don't know who this gentleman is but he is an interview I did not know I needed! Thank You for your vulnerability through your journey! I listened Sir!
Ive seen his interviews before but you can tell he's growing and thats all we can ask for in this life. "Im an addict" is deep on all levels because we all are addicts to something in our lives that put us back into the same positions were in before.
He left 30 mill on the table😢
For those of who sufferer or have recovered from Opioid addiction; Darren has a real good story of hitting rock bottom and eventually getting clean while in the NFL.
Love it. I want him to write a book. He just spoke what so many people need to him. Quiet life is my new goal. ❤❤❤
Battling with self worth and self love is on going battle many people in the world face.
I like the growth he’s slowing. As people we need to look within and see ourselves and use our ups and downs to progress.
never judge a book by its cover- this brotha all tatted, yet gifted, talented, wise and unique- live on bruh- be that example-
Always knew he was in a different space. Hes very spiritual and he’s been through alot very gentle soul. Gotta be careful with souls like his they are genome but fragile. Gotta protect them
So his grandfather is Fats Waller, didn't know that was his grandfather, Envy, should havs expanded on it cause yall didnt ask who his grandfather was.. Fats Waller is a legend
They probably didn't know
Rarely do these dudes research the folks they invite to their show. I, like You, was waiting for Envy or Charlagmane to ask follow-up questions regarding his grandfather.
This show is great for comedy, but they do the bare minimum when interviewing.
@@sirrmanning2769you expect them to do research every single day 4 every single guest . It’s impossible to know everything sbout everybody damn
But he mentioned that his granddad was a Jazz musician. It's great that he's a legend in that genre, but he's being interviewed on a Hip-Hop station. Had this interview been on NPR or something Jazz-related you would have better follow up questions.
Talent wise Darren Waller is one of the top 30 best tight ends ever. Very underrated
Reality wise he’s an all time BUST
@@dougiewisehow is he a bust again? He literally went in the sixth round was there really an expectation? He ended up getting his act together when the raiders picked him up 2019 and 2020 he had over 1000 yards and was ranked 35th in the top 100 then his career went down hill this interview obviously explains why he doesn’t want to play the sport
@@dougiewisea bust is a first round even a second rounder

Darren Waller interviews are always great
I have to admit... I Love the Breakfast Club and I Love that they spoke of Darren's NFL career. News for me is that I didn't know that he was no longer married to Kelsey Plum. But... C'MON Breakfast Club, he is ALSO the great grandson of the Great Fats Waller, one of the greatest jazz musicians ever. I grew up on R&B and hip hop but I am also a jazz head. You could have asked him one question about his family history... just one about Fats Waller.💔
Much respect to Darren Waller change my own view of him he’s a good young man trying and being honest and open we can all learn even at my age from this stellar , damaged , humble and good young man ! Respect sir Godspeed !!! I’ll be pulling for u 👊🏼🙏🏼
I love Darren Waller great player!!! Love how he articulates just an all around grounded individual trying to be better
This is definitely self awareness if I ever saw it
Yes it was pretty good. I hope he continues to work on himself and like he said be patient.
As Raiders fan we always love Derren Waller
Nope
@@cutetay71 why not?
@kaysheye7784 because he faked injuries his heart was never into it.
I have been hard on Darren this Man is very well spoken and getting his life together now I look at this Man different nothing but praise 🙏👌👍😊
This interview hit hard. Definitely wasn’t expecting it.
I have a ton of respect for Darren! Best of luck to him. I will listen to his music and see if it is for me.
This is the type of self awareness that men of today need to have! Good on him man
Darren is a 7 life Path . that explains it all , very spiritual and intellectual man . Love 💙
This was a great conversation that was needed for a lot of men
Awesome interview. Great that Waller opened up and shared...
This was a great interview. This brotha was very articulate well spoken and articulate with his emotions and how to express them. It takes a while for us men to find this type of mindset and you usually have to go through some BS to get it. Great interview. P.s. are people focused on the actual conversations in interviews nowadays or just how famous someone is? 🤔
Enjoyed the video. That's what it's all about. Once we're delivered from a stronghold or healed, look at ways in helping others. There's someone out here who's experiencing the same. It's always a blessing in helping others.
He seems very honest and a work in progress. 👏🏼👏🏼
“Rub some dirt on it” is still super prevalent and in some cases appropriate. Learning how to let shit go is more important than expression of emotions.
I feel like charlamagne and envy tried their best to make dude break about the retirement and divorce. Legit just kept asking about it.( Industry trick, as the same question in different ways to get the answer you want or to trip up your guest). Homie stood 10 toes when he said he at peace, in a better space, and ultimately working toward his pursuit of happiness.
Yep, I noticed they do this often 🤦🏾♂️ respect folk's and find other things to ask
Especially when he asked that “fumbling Kelsey” question. He wanted him to say something bad about her
Probably needs a non- famous wife because he needs care!😢
New respect for him! At least he was honest and focus on yourself! Great new appreciation for him! Self love man
This was a really dope interview. He’s painted a certain way online but he seems like a cool guy.
This is a profound conversation.
Darren just helped so many people with interview alone
This was truly a wonderful interview, dj envy ask some good NFL based questions, while charlamagne asked mainly personal life questions, and Darren did a great job answering them. I respect his fight and perseverance, and I wish him nothing but the best in the future, and BIG UP TO THE BFC for this one.
I just realized that one person was missing???
She's on paternity leave.
Fun Fact : if you double tap this comment it automatically likes it
Thanks for the fun fact!😊 I did it on your comment. That's cool how that works 😂
I tried it, it didn't work. The 1st tap liked it but the 2nd tap took it away... 😂😂😂

Love this! The sobriety journey is amazing. One day at a time ❤
Really enjoy listening and I pray this helps other that is going through what this young man has went through and still going through. Thank you Breakfast Club. Great Interview!!!!
I this young man the best. I hope he finds his happiness.
This was way more insightful than I thought it would be 👏🏾
Great interview. He could easily be misunderstood. I agree the song wasnt the best look for how the world views him but if it helps his mentals I wont kill him for it. Stay strong & keep God close 🙏🏾
Amazing interview. I recommend Every man watch this . Wow
I am absolutely rooting for this brother, that’s a lot to process when you get a divorce and retire from a sport that you’ve been married for so long.
No lie, so much of this was my experience from feeling uncomfortable in my skin to football all the way to the viral lung infection. crazy!

Charlamagne don’t realize them lightskin jokes actually hurt ppl 💀
Right, this guy would of benefitted from getting treated better earlier in his age and his trajectory would of been different.
This is a grown ass man who’s hurt over light skin jokes. Wow! I’m glad I had the father and mother I was blessed with. Especially my father he prepared us for the worst and best of times. Life is what you make it. You create your own pains way before experiencing them. Hurt feelings especially over silly things such as skin color is deeper than hurt feeling you gotta have mental health issues.
He moving to light skin himself with all the bleaching
@Melissa-sq2mi FACTS!!!!!!!!
Nobody believes that anymore besides you🤦🏿♂️@@brennankaneyt
This was an EXCELLENT conversation.
Can’t even hate on the dude, Respect to Darren for saying some real shit.
Great interview! I have a tremendous amount of respect for this young man and can relate a lot to his story. I hope everyone gets everything they thought they wanted in this life so that you too can realize that fulfillment comes from peace within you.
This was a great episode. I needed to see this. I respect bro for sharing his story with us! It helps us and him!
Great conversation. I wish him all the best + inner peace.
I was so hyped when he came to the giants, a yr later he’s off the team but I’m happy he got to finish as a giant
You gotta find Joy 🙏🏼.
In the word “Happiness” you can make out the word “Happen.” Usually something needs to Happen for you to gain Happiness.
Hearing his perspective on things is dope
Awesome Interview! I always liked him as a player. I have even more respect for that brotha as a man! Great testimony!
Wow! You have a great show! I just listened to this and you guys are great interviewers. No fluff has some tough questions. I will be subscribing to your podcast from now on. Thank you!

Phenomenal Podcast and interview. Thank you for this.
Great description of just living life. He’s made enough money in his mind to do what he wants now. This is a place we all wish to to be say to be but don’t know what it will be.
This was a great interview!! If you have never been through his situation , just know it’s real. Thanks for opening up and speaking on it.
Keep pressing !! We look forward to seeing you successful in your next season .
This was a great conversation.
Dope interview. Very well spoken
He’s incredible, all respect to Darren Waller.
1000% can relate to that colorism and racism thing growing up and and dealing with feeling isolated cause of that. I still deal with that some to this day. People look at me weird when I say it but I’ve genuinely experienced just as much if not more racism and prejudice from black people( while being black) for being lightskin or not being “black enough” as I have from white people.
The lil jokes and stuff are funny sometimes but I’ve literally been excluded and talked about by “my own people” time after time growing up for just being me and for doing/liking the things I like.
I was raised to speak articulately, but some people will tell me I “talk white”. I was raised to dress presentably at all times because you never know who you might bump into, but some will say I dress like I’m “from the suburbs”. I echo everything you’ve shared, and a part of me even at 30yo holds a grudge against my parents for raising me in a “white neighborhood”. But they were only trying to give me an upbringing that they dreamed of. Safety, comfort, peace.
Now these kids are growing up with social media, and I can’t imagine the level of judgement they might be receiving from their “brothers & sisters”. WE, as a Black community, have to do better uplifting and encouraging our Black peers. No matter what they sound, look, or act like. It really is important. Thank you for your comment.
And thank you Darren Waller for being vulnerable. Your journey is a healing tool for a lot of people.
Great interview. So very proud of you and your journey.
Salute to Darren ✌🏾 from the DMV...
I feel this dude. I didn’t feel I fit in
Great interview. Need move conversation on mental health
Charla was COOKIN!!! Great conversation
Loved his interview on the Pivot Podcast!!
Envy said "seems like you've been FIDDLING a lot wit music"😂😂😂😂😂 No faith in bro
If you heard it, that is what you will say too😂.
Damn this conversation deep. Can relate so much!! 💯
Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I wish Darren Waller would do a country wide tour talking to young people. What an inspiration!
This was a great interview
Ngl. I gained a new respect and outlook for him after this interview.
I'm taking time to heal!!!
I definitely relate to him saying kids made him feel not black enough. I didn’t even grow up around a lot of white people until I got to high school. My family is just from the country. I grew up around a lot of country black folk but in high school people said I wasn’t black just because I liked to go hunting and fishing and drive trucks. I’m glad I was raised by my strong willed grandma and I never let it get to me.
Great conversation!
This is a really good interview.
I miss my step mom she gives the best mouth hugs
I like this mans energy first time listening to him or finding out about him
Solid dude, great interview!
