    This "ALL-I" Codec ought to be just a simple firmware update and nothing else. I got R6 Matk II on the launch date and I was pretty damn excited about it but that excitement is fading out slowly after using it for almost a year now. And IPB is just PURE CPU intensive. Do we have to upgrade our workstation every now and then, when a new camera like R6 Mark II comes out. I have no issues editing BMPCC 6K footages.... but finding it extremely hard to edit 4K footages from R6 MK II. We just need a BASIC firmware update to enable ALL-I codec for video and nothing else. Even those cheaper camera have ALL-I and why cant they put this in R6 MK II. I have been a Canon shooter for more than 12 years now, but i deeply regret investing on R6 MK II.
    P.S.: If anyone get to see or read this comment.... Please don't buy R6 Mk II... Better go for BMPCC/ Sony / Fuji / Panasonic. ITS NOT WORTH INVESTING on Canon R6 Mark II esp. for video. Thank you.

      I completely understand the frustration from the perspective of a pc user, but if you used a Mac with the m1 or m2 chip and Davinci resolve the argument is a non starter. Mac plays H265 files like it’s butter because it’s a native codec on their hardware and it’s the easiest thing to edit. I moved over to Mac in march and I have looked back. My pc had the rtx 3080 and a ryzen 12 core gpu and totally struggled editing h265. Almost 18yrs of editing I have never enjoyed it more than ever now editing on a Mac.

    • @JaredHoyman
      @JaredHoyman  Год назад +1

      Completely agree! Dual recording would be great. Atomos would be fast enough to dual record on the one ssd, but if canon updated firmware to allow recording on SD while using clean hdmi out that would be great!

    Which pro res codec would you recommend to use with the ninja for the r6 mk ii? I shot my first video with it and image was sharp on camera- but when I pulled up the video on the ninja it was a a little blurry- I was recording via the ninja to ssd - in pro res 422. Am I doing something wrong? Focus peaking was on and I was sharp on monitor and camera.

    Sorry for the noob question. So if I put the r6 mark ii in C-Log 3, is that sent over HDMI to the Ninja V, so that I get the same dynamic range as if I were just recording internally in the camera?

    I have All-i in my R5 and also had it on the A74 but never use it. Ipb is good enough. The only time I shoot all i is when I need to convert to Prores so I can edit the best quality in my free Davinci Resolve. However I discovered I can edit Canon R5 8k Raw light with the free Davinci without re encoding. With the R6mk2 clog3 I also re encode to prores 10b 422 of course I have a script that does it from my memory card reader to a cache drive. No issue with Davinci and I can edit realtime with an older Cpu and a 2060 card.

      That's awesome! Good to know about prores lite working on the free version. I would like to make a video comparing the different codecs, size, efficiency in editing and quality of image. If you are using Davinci Resolve often, you may find the one time payment for studio is well worth it.

      @@shawnlabranche6852 its a windows script menu driven. The choice is prores or 8bit mp4 and also i chose the output size. Meaning 8k,4k,2k and so on. I also have a lut sub menu so I can add a lut into my prores or on the 8 bit output. Because most of my videos are family related or me shooting wildlife i encode to 8bit so I can store or watch on our tvs using a Nas drove or its for davinci for editing. I have a small lut menu that allows me quickly colorgrade without even touching davinci. So I enter the drive lette for my card reader and go through the quick choices and it does all the re encode as a bulk. I even have the black bars as an option to convert video into 2:1 aspect ratio.

I can always find something new to buy for my hobby. Drone would be nice maybe a new gimbal. Better lenses. Heheh. But I am interested on how 6k raw looks once Atamos do their thing. Now it all makes sense... canon can not bring all-i to the original R6.. as it will have more bitrate, producing much more larger files easy to edit... but also The Camera will overheat... 2 or 3 times much more faster.... we already know how bad the cooling is...
